  1. I'd like to sign up as Kholwa, a terrisman who was educated as a doctor in Khlennium but always felt the need to return and help heal the sick in his rural village of birth. When Alendi's party suddenly appeared in the foothills of his village, Kholwa felt as if this was why he'd always been inexplicably urgent to return here, and immediately offered to help the Hero to the best of his ability.
  2. Amazing writeup! A bit of an implausible course of action for both parties, but it's interesting to see what effect it'd have Out of curiosity, what priority does the baton have? (Meaning, even if we had voted for Biorney in the last round, would we have lynched him before he began the protocol?) ETA: Anyone know when the next game is?
  3. The way I view it, all of the realms have impact on all of the other realms. The spiritual aspect is the general essence of an object, so it generalizes what, inherently, the object is. The cognitive realm is sort of a prism that modulates the spiritual information to fill in the specifics of an object. Metaphorically speaking, the cognitive realm is a prism that reflects the light of the Spiritual realm. It has to be close enough to the original that it doesn't simply diffuse all of the light and must be able to catch the light in the first place, but if it can do that it can transform it in a variety of ways. It also serves as sort of a communication line between each realm. The physical realm is the manifestation of the object put forward by the cognitive realm. Impressions of an object by conscious minds alter the cognitive aspect of an object, causing it to see itself in a specific way (eg seeing itself as a table rather than a bunch of wood). Because these impressions are formed due to interpretations of the physical aspect, it doesn't really modulate the appearance in the physical realm. These cognitive changes can, however, be 'uploaded' to the long-term storage of the spiritual aspect that defines what the object is, providing guidelines for the cognitive aspect itself.
  4. I would argue that you logically could store any allomantic power in a metalmind composed of the same metal as the the respective power. This is mainly because we already know that Preservation/Harmony has already invested the metal with the allomantic power it grants, which would mean the metal could in fact be invested with the given ability. I would also argue that the reason Miles doesn't mention allomantic compounding is likely because he's unaware of its existence. He doesn't seem the type to enjoy introspection, so he's unlikely to ever voluntarily burn non-Feruchemicaly invested gold. Because of this, he's unlikely to ever have allomantic gold and a desire to store it at the same time. I'm a bit busy rn, so I wasn't able to read the whole thread. Sorry if this has already been suggested
  5. I just checked the win conditions, it specifically says we must arrest all corrupt senators, so I think we're safe. The original writeup did make it look like there were only 2 Corrupt Senators, however, which would mean Mark would have to be innocent. If that's the case, the only possibility would be Wilson. Joe, do constables count towards win conditions?
  6. You argue that the wealthy noble houses care little for those they should represent, then in the same breath say a drop in taxes applied to those houses would result in higher wages for workers. If the rich are truly corrupt and greedy, it seems much more likely that these tax cuts would only serve to inflate the salaries of those at the tops. Larger houses are also more able to invest the nesecary capital to buy and ship in bulk, which results in significantly lower production costs for them. This, in conjunction with their tax cuts, would allow them to drop prices to a point at which they make a small profit on each product sold, yet are still able to sell enough to subsist. While this may seem desirable at first, in reality it would allow the rich to starve out competition and then establish a monopoly in this poorly regulated economy, which would allow them to raise prices tenfold. The only sustainable way to grow a balanced economy is to institute large taxes on the rich and use the resulting funds to subsidize upstart companies and the everyday costs of working class citizens I also find it ironic that you were appointed governor by the same group you condemn as not valuing the best interests of the people. If a group that you imply cannot do anything properly is the group that appointed you in the first place, your reign is, by your own argument, detrimental to Elendel as a whole. As such, there is no possible reason for you to remain in office
  7. 1)This post was utterly hilarious. I literally started laughing and got weird looks from my entire family 2)You referenced the Matrix 3)You referenced the Princess Bride (Plus, I like your signature) I think you might be my new favorite person, Aeromancer
  8. ETA: also, 16.18 is an approximation, it isn't an exact value. Because a number of pieces has to be an integer, it's possible that it was 16 just due to rounding.
  9. This may have already been proposed, but I just suddenly thought of a potential Cosmere tie in to an interest of mine. As such, I thought I'd inform you guys here on the Shard. Basically, I'm proposing that the Golden ratio was used as somewhat of a base for the cosmere. For those of you who don't know, Phi is a letter of the Greek Alphabet that in modern times is used to represent the golden ratio. The golden ratio is a number that inexplicably appears in nature on a variety of scales, from the patterns in which flower petals grow to the literal shaping of galaxies. It also pertains to the Fibonacci sequence (a series of numbers in which each new number is equal to the sum of the 2 previous numbers) because the ratio of a given point on the sequence divided by the point directly before it grows ever closer to the golden ratio as the points increase. This number, expressed as a decimal, is approximately 1.618. Obviously, this number x10 is roughly equal to 16, a number with drastic influence on the cosmere. 10 is relatively important as well (the 10 orders, etc.). It would also be important to scale the ratio upwards from a plot perspective, because Adonalsium couldn't have exactly split into 1.6 shards. It would be very interesting to see how the golden ratio pertains to a variety of in-world phenomena, such as the shape of Roshar, orbital patterns of planets, the formation of the Starbelt, any number of Shallan's sketches, the sand plates that form patterns, and possibly even the Shattering itself. I'm currently on vacation, but once I get home I'll do some research into applying this info to some of the topics listed above
  10. I wish that anyone who is in danger due to lack of food receive exactly enough food to return them to ideal condition if they so desire, and that said food is large enough to be easily visible yet small enough to be eaten quickly, has no negative health effects to the person eating it or anyone else, has an ideal taste and texture according to the reciver's preference. It should also be able to be chewed and be as fresh as possible, yet be cooked to the reciver's preference if nesecary.
