Tzalum wandered casually through the Village. With his tanned skin and angled eyes he fit in well among the Terris, even with his accent. He wasn’t, of course, but he looked close enough for Master Thaidakar’s purposes. Right now his task was to watch the newcomers, these mysteriously appearing Worldhoppers. Master Thaidakar believed that if he could parse their method of travel, the Ghostbloods would be able to utilize it to accomplish their goals ahead of the publishing schedule. Whatever that meant. Master Thaidakar could be a bit... eccentric... at times. Tzalum would follow him anyway. The Ghostblood master had saved him from a life of drudgery in the backwaters of Alethkar and given him new purpose. He would follow him loyally now, wherever the journey took them.

The seamstress quickly calculated the total and Eryn put the bill in her pocket. “We go back to Temple now; see Sovreign.” He was Zola’s father now; he could pay for this.

"Anything you can do, I can do ... just as well?"
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Ixthos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Actually, Kelsier held the Shard fully. He just couldn’t access all the power. But he was able to see what the Mists saw and he recognized them as part of himself - just a part he couldn’t do very much with. It was like a paralyzed limb: still attached to his body, but one he couldn’t manipulate. His bigger problem was that the Shard HATED him. It’s one of the reasons I recommend reading SH before RoW: it really helps explain what’s going on between Odium and Rayse. -
Well, until fairly recently a lot of the Cosmere lacked modern tech. So less light and dust pollution to block the stars. And, for all we know, the artist was on a mountain top or using a telescope. It’s also an artist’s depiction. We can’t see every star in a constellation all the time, but we can see them some of the time. An artist can make the stars as bright as they want as long as they know the stars are there. It’s unlikely all those constellations are visible at once either. Indications are that the Cosmere is pretty small though, as it exists in a star cluster in a dwarf galaxy.

Yeah, who would have thought baby Cryptics are born as a concept via a merging of minds?

The Star map was created from an unknown point and is an artist’s depiction. It’s not necessarily accurate to how bright or dim the stars are when seen from that point. The only ones we know can be seen fairly consistently from most worlds are the three red stars.

I’m aware, Kelsier sent. But that doesn’t answer my question.

@AmazingGoob Kelsier shook his head. “You shouldn’t be making yourself hot enough for it to matter. Giving yourself a fever isn’t generally a good idea.” Kelsier himself could go hotter, of course, but he was a brass savant. That had its benefits - and disadvantages. “There are blankets upstairs, and my crew will arrange for outerwear once we have your measurements. That should help when you’re storing.” He paused, glancing over at Hoblim. “Store as you read. Focus on trying to store just the words, not the conversations. Memory is formed of many different parts. A big part of mastering copper is learning to store the pieces you want.” He smiled at Lilli. “Lower your burn. I’m standing right next to you and my allomancy is stronger than most. It makes the pulses resound more powerfully.”

“The easiest way to practice is to read a book and store the text,” Kelsier advised. “One you’ve already read once works best. Storing conversations can be disorienting, especially if you’re not used to it.” ”I’d take his advice,” Trésor agreed. “I was raised knowing of my powers, which is rather different than someone who only just received them.”

Kelsier smiled. “Everything in this house is yours to use for as long as you choose to stay. And you’ll find the labels on the bottom of the vials.” Trésor smiled kindly at Hoblim. “I can try. It takes experience and you’ll need to have some memories stored first. You shouldn’t need many to start; metal can hold a great deal and you aren’t going be making copies.”

Kelsier smiled, taking the vials. “You probably don’t want to swallow these by mistake.” He put them in his pocket, then gestured at the mantle. “You’ll find vials and bands for all sixteen metals in the drawers.”

"Anything you can do, I can do ... just as well?"

But it can enable lots of other people to be healed. As opposed to the power only being available to a few individuals. And we don’t know everything it can do. Besides, many powers require multiple elements. You need access to Stormlight and a Spren bond to use any Radiant ability. You need a lot of technical know how, access to the Dor, and come from the right place to use a Selish system. Mistborn require being descended from someone who ate a godmetal and access to the correct metal. Feruchemists require being descended from the people altered by Preservation and the correct metal and an attribute store. -
Eryn shook her head. “Playing. Running. Makes sweat. Not clean and not smell nice. Need change.” She turned back to the seamstress. “Will also need four nightdress, ten shifts, ten undergarments, and many stocking to match dresses.” The Seamstress nodded. “I have several of those items in stock and I can make more.” Eryn nodded. “Will take when pick up new dresses.”

Kelsier laughed, pocketing the other vial - and its accompanying note. “It is a bit of a misnomer. One of the better ballet troops deliberately hires Thugs. Pewter doesn’t just make you stronger; it makes you more graceful and agile. Not a bad skill for a dancer.” Kelsier nodded. “That skill is more useful than you’d expect. It’s how I knew she,” he pointed at Faith, “was coming. ”I don’t suppose you have any more of those testing vials, do you?”

Kelsier shrugged. “Up to you. You’re not quite as insufferable as most Kandra.” Eryn laughed. “Of course change. Cannot be dirty.”

Kelsier nodded. “Pewter. Try storing in the sample. If that doesn’t work you’re an allomancer.” He pulled a small vial out of his pocket and offered it to her. “Trade you?”

Not true on the last. One hemalurgic F-gold spike could be used to save a lot of people. (Stick it in a non-lethal bindpoint for someone badly injured. Give them a blank gold metalmind. Remove spike, patch entry wound and repeat with a new patient.) A-Pewter spike could do something similar. We also don’t know everything hemalurgy can do.
