Shallan and the cube [RoW spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Dreamwa1ker's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It wasn’t the same exact box! The other box was ‘dimpled’ not smooth. I wonder what the difference is... -
She’s ace/heteromantic

Dalinar is a terrible father.
-
It’s the common cold. A worldhopper brought it to Roshar by mistake. Demoux from Mistborn, specifically.

It’s entirely possible that the Spike just stores Connection to the Physical Realm. Once he had that, it’s possible Kell could just transition to the Physical Realm, manifesting a body on the way. Removing that Spike would probably leave him trapped between realms and in a great deal of pain though.

Oh, I think he was tricked. Tricksters often get tricked, especially folk ones. They just come back to trick the one who tricked them - and usually figure out they were tricked soon after it occurs. Quite a few folk trickster stories begin with the trickster being tricked. Mythic heroes can end up tricked too, but that tends to be on a rather different scale with very different consequences.

This is great. But you should find a way to sneak “there’s always another secret” in there. It fits the song so well.

Dasak's presentation and Ishar's army or Tukar's army
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Dasak's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, that one. Odds are most new readers won’t catch it unless they happen to read MB right before or right after RoW, but being on these forums is a great way to get spoiled!- 16 replies

Which is why I want to know if this came up in Beta. Because that’s where it would have come up. If it came up and was left unchanged it’s intentional. If it never came up, then it may just be a mistake.

Dasak's presentation and Ishar's army or Tukar's army
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Dasak's topic in Stormlight Archive
If you read Mistborn immediately after, or read Mistborn just before, it really jumps out. Especially since you have no reason to And if you just read MB, then it’ll jump out enough that you’ll go check... which spoils the rest.- 16 replies

Felt is a Ghostblood Agent [Discuss]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Stormlight Archive
He was. Kell’s opinions on nobles changed throughout SH though, so I don’t think it would be an issue. I mean, several GBs are lighteyes and that hasn’t been an issue. Shallan is a noblewoman and that wasn’t an issue. And Kell likely retained his friendship with Breeze, despite the fact that he should have known about Breeze’s noble heritage post-Ascension. Felt is almost certainly an agent for someone. He’s been a rogue agent at times and he was part of the 17th Shard at one point. I think he may be working for Kell now because he is in the perfect place to be the GB spy near the Kholins. He’s never been mentioned to be wearing an earring, which I think he would have if he were Saze’s. -
Contest of Champions Predictions [RoW Spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Crossen's topic in Stormlight Archive
And if he parades Moash in front of Adolin, before the latter has a chance to be debriefed? He could even pick himself, wait for Dalinar to tell everyone that Odium will be his own Champion, then appear as Taravangian in front of Szeth. There goes the deal... -
Felt is a Ghostblood Agent [Discuss]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Stormlight Archive
We’ve seen three GBs. Four if we count Kell. That isn’t much of a sampling. -
Whimsy + Odium = Caprice Whimsy + Honor = A Rogue of some kind (think Robin Hood) Valor + Honor = Chivalry Honor + Cultivation = Civilization (hence the Rhythm of Science) Honor + Odium = Retribution Cultivation + Odium = Eugenics/Social Darwinism Honor + Odium + Cultivation = Conquest/Colonialism Odium + Honor + Dominion = Revanche Odium + Devotion = Abuse Odium + Mercy = Empathy Honor + Devotion = Fidelity Devotion + Dominion = Kingship Ruin + Preservation + Cultivation = Evolution Harmony + Honor = Peace Devotion + Cultivation = Faith + Dominion = Worship Mercy + Devotion = Salvation Invention + Cultivation = Industry

Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Clinical does not mean ‘doesn’t enjoy.’ Kell kills passionately, but he does enjoy it and he enjoys the thrill. Mraize kills clinically, but with pleasure. Kell burns hot, while Mraize is cold. This isn’t about morals; it’s about personality. -
Weirdly, this was where my head was going too. But I thought it was less ‘fishing for information’ and more goading Shallan into going after BAM so she can lead the GBs there.

Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Kell totally would have - so long as the person was a noble or affiliated with the nobility. Mraize would not kill for the thrill; Mraize kills for the hunt. He is very clinical. Note that Kell goes South after ten years and spends a good chunk of the next century there. Spook wasn’t being directly influenced by him then. -

She’s an Assassin though, and Windrunners tend to have issues with that. -
Shallan is even more cringe than before
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Atlas's topic in Stormlight Archive
I’m not so sure they did lose. Something weird was going on in that conversation and a known Scadrian spy is in Shallan’s camp which is unlikely to be a coincidence. If anything that conversation goaded Shallan into immediately heading off for BAM... who the GBs want to find. If there’s a spy on her team she’ll be leading them right there... -
Kaladin would probably disagree, considering that Reatares seemingly ordered the death of his squad. But yes, aside from that Kalak is a lot of fun. I hope we get to see more of him soon!

Dasak's presentation and Ishar's army or Tukar's army
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Dasak's topic in Stormlight Archive
Mistborn is directly related to one character’s entire plot actually. If you haven’t read Mistborn yet stay away from the discussions here until you do. There’s a pretty big spoiler in RoW.- 16 replies

Felt is a Ghostblood sleeper agent. Way back in TFE: “Felt, one of the House Venture chief spies, climbed into the carriage, nodding his hawkish, mustached face respectfully to Elend, then Jastes.” Felt is a spy, originally from TFE Scadrial. He was present when Kell died, during the revolt and Elend’s speech, and the Catacande. And now he’s here, on Roshar. We know the GBs have a spy near the Kholins. We know that having an agent near prospective members is common practice. Felt has been by Dalinar’s side for years. He’s a loyal and trusted member of Dalinar’s forces. And now he’s on the Shadesmar trip, in the perfect position to ‘innocently’ question Kalak and discover the whereabouts of Ba-Ado-Mishram. We were all but told he was a worldhopper in Dalinar’s memories. And we know he’s tried to find the Nightwatcher before going on Dalinar’s mission to find her. His presence here, now, is remarkably suspicious - and no one suspects him at all. So: I posit that Felt is a Ghostblood agent in deep cover. Thoughts?
-
The editing question is why I wanted one of the Beta readers to weigh in on this. The GBs don’t care about most of Rosharan politics. They aren’t interested in control. They don’t want Odium free, but that’s the limits of their interest in ‘local politics.’ They didn’t want Kalak killed; they wanted him captured so they could interrogate him and possibly experiment on him. And I’m not so sure they lost either; if Shallan had gone through with the attack Kalak would be dead. He’s still alive, which means they still have a chance at learning what he knows. And there is a Scadrian in the group... and not just any Scadrian. “Felt, one of the House Venture chief spies, climbed into the carriage, nodding his hawkish, mustached face respectfully to Elend, then Jastes.” A spy. A spy who served Elend, who comes from the Final Empire, who saw Kell’s death, who has proven himself capable before. If Felt is a GB sleeper agent I would not be remotely surprised. And Shallan is about to lead her group to the very thing the GBs wish to find. Lightweavers may make good spies in theory. The problem seems to lie in the fact that none of the current batch have much training.
