You are correct. This is exactly what I meant. -
[BoM spoilers ahead!] Hoid's objective in BoM

Unlike Roshar, Odium is not bound to Scadrial. -
Word of Brandon: You are severely underestimating what Bavadin is up to. There is sufficient evidence that the "pantheons where entire member is actually her" are not limited to Taldain. You are also ignoring the pretty blatant hints in the Wax&Wayne books that the follows of Trell literally seek autonomy (for themselves and from Harmony). Also Trell's initial goal, as I pointed out before was to praise night and shun day. Very much aligns with life on the Darkside of Taldain.

[BoM spoilers ahead!] Hoid's objective in BoM
emailanimal replied to Sallin Zeras's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have a WoB stating that Bavadin dabbles in religions. We have a WoB stating that red is associated with something very specific in Cosmere, but refusing to connect red with a single Shard (in fact, essentially saying that it is not Odium's color). The preponderance of evidence is not on the side of Odium at this point. At first, Trelagism was a religion teaching (in a slightly more carefully worded manner) that night is better than day, and that the stars (1000 eyes of Trell) are better than the shining sun. The key point to observe is that if I lived on the side of the tidally locked planet that is always dark, I would want a religion telling me that my side of the planet is better than the bright side of the planet.... Also, so far, Odium has NOT BEEN KNOWN to actually destroy worlds. Sel has two dead Shards, but it is not a dead world. Tanavast is dead on Roshar, but humanity is not. We now know from Brandon (and UA) that Odium fought Ambition near Taldain, yet Taldain is populated. Destruction of Scadrial (not Harmony) is actually not Odium's MO thus far. He was largely interested in destroying Shards, not planets. -
[BoM spoilers ahead!] Hoid's objective in BoM

As an aside, It has been officially confirmed. The word "ultimate" is perhaps too strong. Brandon has been very tight-lipped about Hoid's endgame. So, if it is to stop Odium (and only that), it seems like no more mystery. I think it is more fair to say that Hoid's presence on Roshar during Stormlight Archive timeline has as its goal stopping, or somehow interfering with Odium. But that is a small part of a VERY LONG timeline during which Hoid is playing some VERY LONG game. It has also been just as heavily speculated that Trell is in fact not Odium. Recent WoBs regarding Bavadin and religions make her a much more plausible choice. -
Perhaps, a mistake. Brandon, in commenting on Autonomy's Vessel gender ventured that Bavadin has been known by many deific personas to many people/peoples. This, as well as the observations about the alignment of the original Trell religion with the Dayside/Darkside organization of Taldain, suggest that Bavadin has been involved in creation, if not proliferation of Trell on Scadrial. At this point, it is not unreasonable to assume that A LOT of religions in Cosmere have been started, or co-opted by Bavadin. The most recent WoB is literally "Cultivation is alive and kicking". So is, apparently Endowment.

Sorry, that was my bad. I edited the post to actually say what I wanted in continuation. -

Usually, analogous between different systems, not between two parts of the same system. We also know nothing of this Skybreaker's ability. I am not certain it is implied directly by the Surges they have access to either (although we've only seen Gravitation so far). So, we have to attribute anything related to determining whether someone lies or whether someone is guilty Resonances. -

But Truthwatchers share no surges with Skybreakers, so it cannot be the same skill. I agree though on the larger point. Stump appears to be able to tell when kids are lying (or at least, it appears to us). Ym and Renarin have not been spotted doing this. Based on what we have seen of their neighbors, Truthwatchers should be able to heal and lightweave (although as Brandon says, their lightweaving may be different than that of Lightweavers). Seeing truth therefore could be considered a Resonance. -
The final word of Brandon from the googledoc: So, Brandon chooses to describe the 17th Shard mission (or their own perception of their mission) in these specific terms... And the 17th Shard is unhappy with Hoid, are looking for him... Want to prevent him from "interfering"... So could it really be that Hoid wants to combine the Shards again?? It's a variant of the popular "Hoid wants to restore Adonalsium" theory, but did Brandon just inadvertently confirm it?

I don't think it is fair to say that the Diagram is not one group. It is one group. But it is one group organized more as a political party than as an autocracy. Which is completely fine and reasonable (because if the 13 agents of Shaitan cannot pull it together in the cousin series, why would one expect other organizations to move with precision and single-mindedness???). I have a side observation. After the reveal of the type of Jasnah's spren, I keep on asking myself (and want to eventually see this asked of Brandon): would Mr. T. writing the diagram attract a Nahel-bondable Inkspren? Because given what we know of Elsecallers (and Brandon just used their name and the word "Macchiavelian" in the same sentence), and given the content of the Diagram, if you were an up-and-coming Inkspren, would you not want to bond that?
-
As much as I would love to celebrate Jasnah's everlasting awesomeness (and sacrifice an occasional goat in my shrine to a backpack and a kind of a bandoleer), I believe that the technical reason why this will not happen is because Honor has already been Splintered. We can speculate that "if anyone can figure out how to reconstitute a Shard, Jasnah can", but it seems like the Shards themselves do not know how to do it.

A Theory on the Origin of Adonalsium [Calamity Spoilers]
emailanimal replied to Amanuensis's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Checked the obvious places and cannot find it. Really strange, because "Did Adonalisum have a Vessel?" sounds like an obvious question to ask Brandon after Secret History (and I still am sure that I saw something like this somewhere). Going back to Secret History, here is the part that gives me reasons to strongly believe this was the case: Emphasis mine, quote from the Kelsier's meeting with Khriss and Nazh. Even though in an earlier quote Khriss said "I don't know if it was a force or a being", she later said "though I suspect the latter", this subsequent quote from Nazh is telling. In the first part of his statement ("And ones with no particular qualifications") he clearly refers to Ati and Leras (among others), NOT to Ruin and Preservation as Intents. He then continues to refer to Adonalsium as "the guy who had the job before". To me, this is not just a metaphor: rather this is an acknowledgement that Adonalsium's Shattering killed his Vessel (and consequently that Adonalsium had a Vessel). -
So, two competing interpretations possible. Version 1: Boon: Evi => Shshshshshhh. Curse => Renarin's health [*] Version 2: Boon: Something that might help Renarin with his disease [**]. Curse: Evi ==> Shshshshshsh. [*] Most of the other curses we saw, I think, were mental in nature: things of perception, whereas the boons could've been anything. This supports the idea that Shshshsh is the curse part of the deal. [**] Sending a spren to bond Renarin may be Nightwatcher's way of healing the boy (hey, it seems to have worked, no?). Truthwatching appears to be on the Cultivation's side of the double eye, so there. This might also explain why Glys is a boy - if this is a special deal from Nightwatcher, she may have selected someone, rather than relying on the standard boy-girl pairing (which reminds me a lot of Philip Pullman's daemons - wow - I get to bring him up twice in a row in these threads (-: ). Also might explain the visions. As an aside, I am much more receptive to the idea that this (Renarin's visions that is) is Cultivation's influence above and beyond the standard KR package, than to the idea that this is Odium.
