The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Sunbird replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
I'm really glad to hear this, bleeder. I also agree with what Twi said about how it could be a good sign that this girl didn't start a fight during the discussion. It may be that she was realizing how hurtful the things were that she's previously said--now that she knows that you're bisexual and she was insulting a real person that she knows--and didn't know how to apologize verbally, in front of the whole group. At least, I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope it was something like that. -
When I saw this short in the theater, I was practically in tears by the end just from the sheer cuteness of it. More cute birds! Piping plovers: Baby rail: Baby magpie: Baby bluebirds begging from mama: Golden-crowned kinglet: Carolina wren: Young burrowing owl: Hummingbird bath:

Somehow I don't think it's a coincidence that the color scheme is the same as the Nazi flag... -
Hulu no longer has The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow available to watch online.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

@Darkness Ascendant I wasn't sure at first if that cover was real or a joke, so I checked the official Time magazine website. It's for real. (I'm sure you knew that already, but I bet some other Sharders will be uncertain like I was.) -
It's actually only been a few days... If it seems like forever, it's just because this thread moves so fast. XD

I'm disgusted with both candidates, and I approve this message. -

I debated about posting this one but decided it was too long for "opening sentence." But I totally agree, it's fantastic.

I went and saw Doctor Strange in theaters today!!! Absolutely fantastic. A bit of a head trip, particularly when the Ancient One is first giving Strange a crash course in "You have no idea how much you don't know about the universe," but highly enjoyable. At first it was super weird to hear Benedict Cumberbatch talking like an American since I'm so used to seeing and hearing him in the role of Sherlock, but by the end of the movie it didn't seem so weird anymore. I LOL'd a lot, especially once the Cloak of Levitation came onscreen. It's so sassy. XD And I caught a couple of subtle references to Sherlock:

At least somebody gets it! XD Q: Why don't clams have any friends? A: Because they're all shellfish.

Agreed! The first role I ever saw him in was J Jonah Jameson in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, so whenever I realize that he's voicing a part, that's the image that appears in my mind. XD He is also the voice of Cave Johnson in the Portal 2 video game. It's really funny to hear him ranting about burning a house down with combustible lemons and imagine that it's J Jonah Jameson speaking. D= What are you supposed to say when the chapter ends like that?

Q: What do you call a pair of crows? A: Attempted murder. (I told this joke in one of my classes on Thursday and all I got was blank looks...)

At the suggestion of @Doctor12, I read the Doctor Strange comic arc The Oath. Highly enjoyable IMO, and I LOL'd a lot. Today I also started (finally!) on J Scott Savage's Gears of Revolution, the second in his steampunk/fantasy series Mysteries of Cove.

When I'm trying to stream an episode of "Gotham" on Hulu and the ads keep buffering forever and wasting my time.

Anyone Here a Fan of The Dresden Files?
Sunbird replied to Quadrophenia's topic in Entertainment Discussion
@Ammanas @Quadrophenia Part of the reason I think Nicodemus is especially awful is the fact that he chooses to do heinous things of his own volition (as opposed to some of the intrinsically demonic creatures whose very nature is evil) and delights in taking away others' ability to make their own choices by foisting Denarii on them. And his pretending to be civilized just makes it worse IMO. I'd rather deal with a straightforward fight than try to see through a false veneer of civility only to be disastrously betrayed. IIRC, the innermost and most torturous circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno was reserved for traitors, and I think it fits. -
Question for Australian Sharders: In Australia, what does the term "chips" mean, assuming you're talking about food? I know it means different things in England vs the USA.

I'm not sure if I have a favorite villain, but the most evil villain is definitely Nicodemus. -

Re: Busking, one night in Salt Lake City, I came across a guy playing bagpipes on a street corner on my way back to my car from Salt Lake Comic Con. It was so weird and awesome I just had to give him some cash.

Sunbird replied to Quadrophenia's topic in Entertainment Discussion
@Quadrophenia I'm really not interested in arguing about it any more. I have my preferences for what I like and don't like to read or watch, and you have yours, and it's perfectly fine if they're different. I don't think people who read/watch media containing profanity are bad people; I just prefer not to do so myself. I'm not going to try to make you change your media habits, so let me be happy with mine, please?
