    Yeah, better safe than sorry. Also keep in mind that until AU, Secret History was only available as an ebook, so anyone who doesn't have an e-reader of some kind will probably be reading it for the first time in Arcanum Unbounded.

    My biology teachers taught us about how Lamarck thought evolution worked and then explained that he was wrong. Lamarck would have said that cutting off the elephants' tusks will make them bear offspring that are born without tusks, or that clipping a bird's wings to keep it from flying will make its future eggs hatch flightless chicks. We know that's not how it works because those changes don't affect the underlying genetics--and it's only a "mutation" if the genes change.

    I understand. I'm not in that situation myself, but I understand. It's sad that a few abusers are making life even more difficult for people like you who actually need those medications, but sometimes it's really difficult for doctors and pharmacists to tell the difference between people who need it and people who are faking in order to feed an addiction or sell the drugs at a profit.

    Drivers who think that being in a parking lot gives them license to drive wherever the storms they want. Last night I was attempting to exit a parking lot and another car turned onto the aisle I was in so that he was directly facing me, on the left (in other words, WRONG) side of the aisle. I waited briefly for him to get on the correct side of the road, thinking that he'd just taken a too-wide turn, but he kept creeping down the aisle on a collision course toward me. So I gave him a little honk, but he just honked back at me as if I were the one being stupid and reckless and driving on the wrong side of the road! >:/

    Re: drugs, my mom worked as a retail pharmacy tech for a few years, and she saw lots of customers in the pharmacy that were obviously addicted or high or stoned or trying to con their way into getting more medication than was legal or safe. America has a SERIOUS problem with prescription drug addiction. I look with suspicion upon anything that has the potential to get me addicted to it for that reason.
