  1. To me, Adonalsium being Shattered is not a reason to rule out omniscience/omnipotence. Depending on how you view Christianity, Jesus was both omniscient and omnipotent but allowed Himself to be killed to fulfill a specific purpose. Adonalsium might have allowed the Shattering for a specific reason, no?
  2. 1024 is a multiple of 16; it is 16 x 64. I'm not sure if that matters but there it is haha
  3. Not to mention that Wax was technically dead and tapped gold from the Bands. He did not need to start tapping before a life ending injury.
  4. If you understand the concepts well enough to derive mathematical equations then you are probably going to do just fine on the test with or without Feruchemical zinc haha
  5. Renarin, Taln, Jasnah, Lift and Shalash are the flashback characters for the second set of five books iirc.
  6. Math requires you to know how to solve the problem - no amount of tapping zinc will teach you how to solve equations if you do not already understand how to. If I understand how zinc works, it will help you think through the problem faster and perform any mental math faster but it does not teach you anything. I really don't think zinc would provide much advantage in regular testing and only provide a moderate advantage in timed testing.
  7. Ah. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
  8. I disagree. We don't make people who are cognitively (earth-word, not Cosmere) exceptional take pills to dull their thoughts to the level of the lowest-common denominator eh? IIRC, Feruchemical zinc does not make you smarter but merely makes you think faster; if you do not know the material before the test you cannot simply tap Feruchemical zinc and learn it during the test. You would simply be thinking "I SHOULD HAVE STUDIED" much faster than the other unprepared people in the room, right? I think there is some argument to made for restricting copperminds but, personally, I think everyone should use the gifts/talents they have.
  9. Please read the following in the soothing voice of either Bob Ross or Morgan Freeman: Because Uruthiru was sealed in crem and this created a preserved environment? Because it was made with soulcast materials that resist decay? Because a Knight Radiant Surge we know nothing of yet was used to cast "Preserve" on the art in Uruthiru? It is possible there is some latent magic preserving the tapestry but I think it is beyond far fetched to assume that the preservation of a tapestry is evidence that a Lightweaver created a tapestry that causes people to murder the nearest person.
  10. I took that to mean that Sanderson might still tweak some of the specific wording given but that the overall plot (Jasnah faked her death and then retreated to Shadesmar) is canon.
  11. I think on Brandon's Facebook page he responded to several people asking about a paperback copy and he said that there would not be one. I could, also, be completely wrong about this haha
  12. Not only that, but we have a WoP (Word of Peter) saying that Scardian metallurgy would be very advanced when compared to the matching Earth era but Scadrian advancement in the area of electricity is stagnated when compared to the matching Earth era.
  13. One thing to remember is that Scadrian metallurgy would be considered very advanced when compared to a similar era on Earth so it is entirely possible they have the tech to isolate the various alkali metals.
  14. I believe it is canon. This is where my idea stems from. Thanks for the link! That makes it a lot easier to reference!
  15. I don't think Jasnah left a fake body behind. I think the body Shallan saw was Jasnah and Jasnah was holding a small amount of Stormlight to heal her wounds and then, once they lost interest in her, she retreated to Shadesmar.
  16. The hunk of pale gemstone has been confirmed, iirc, as an Aether. You would need to read either "Aether of Night" or, possibly, the sample chapters to "Liar of Partinel" to catch the reference
  17. I would assume natural aluminium exist[s/ed] or else how would they know how to soulcast it? Maybe? I doubt it personally. I have trouble believing no one ever tried to cut aluminum with a shardblade.
  18. [emphasis added] I am a bit confused by your wording - Aluminium is an Allomantic metal. Yes, it is possible.
  19. I shall take a stab at these! Incoming wild guesses! Duralumin only boosts Allomancy (wild guess). No. (moderate guess) The amount of spikes required to control a human is four (4). Soul stamps are far too weak of an Investiture to mimic four spikes. Even if a soul stamp was somehow comparable to four spikes I would still rate it as "unlikely" as a soul stamp rewrites your history whereas a spike staples on someone else's history - this makes me believe the "staples" provide some sort of "grip" whereas a soul stamp would be "smooth". I think your final guess is probably somewhat accurate. Nicrosil would enhance the strength of the Surge - perhaps it would reduce the Stormlight cost for lashings, enhance the pull of a reverse lashing, reduce the Stormlight drain of an image etc. Yes, a highblizzard would be the result. The continent of Roshar probably reaches subzero temps on some of the mountain tops (the Peaks where the Horneaters live are supposedly very, very cold outside the range of the hot springs). The Frostlands might reach subzero during winter? I would imagine there has to be somewhere on the planet that does but on the pangea-esque Rosharan continent? I would go with a yes (moderate guess).
  20. I would love to see a quality animated series (ala Avatar: the Last Airbender or Star Wars: Clone Wars). I think there is solid potential there for a show that appeals to both kids and adults. Personally, I would like some adaptations of existing material but I would be totally happy with new content being released in this format.
  21. I thought there is a two-week moratorium on discussing new content, even in spoilers, outside of the appropriate subforum. Is that incorrect?
  22. When you glance at your computer screen and do a double-take because you read "Welcome to Ubuntu" as "Welcome to Urithiru".
  23. CaptainRyan casts Resurrection on this thread! (full exp res of course) As I was reading this thread I thought it might be worth pointing out that the first "on-screen" time for Elend and Vin is not, necessarily, their first time with each other. Brandon was very vague about when/how often Vin and Elend were intimate in the reddit thread (see above comment) so it is entirely possible that both Elend and Vin had issues with sex initially due to their upbringings but worked that out off-screen and we are only given a glimpse of a better time.
  24. I totally googled it too haha. If you add "17th Shard" to the acronym when you google "CFSWF" then you get more correct info.
  25. YIL: Reading a graphic novel is very different from reading a novel. Wow. I am a quick reader and that does not help with a GN. I was turning pages so fast that I barely looked at the art. Halfway through I realized this was a terrible idea and tried to slow down. Impressions: The pacing felt weird. Kenton headed out to the Mastrell's Path and then BAM! He had four spheres right away haha. And then everyone died. And then his powers were gone. And then some people lived. And then his powers were back and he could control three ribbons and then the book ended and... wait, what? I am used to a much slower pace with books so this was a bit of a shock. Overall I enjoyed the story. I have not read the prose so I am left wanting more! Also, the art was beautiful. Sometimes it was hard to distinguish who was who but it was still very well drawn and colored.
