  1. If the question is which of them is, personally and as an individual, a more terrible person then I think the obvious answer is Sadeas. If the question is who's actions could lead to worse outcomes for every human on the planet then I think the obvious answer is Amaram. Sadeas is the more terrible individual, in my opinion, because I would rather my child (hypothetical child as I do not have any children) be Amaram as at least they are committed to doing what they think is right no matter the cost. Sadeas is only committed to himself. That being said, if I had to choose which to inflict upon a group of people I would probably pick Sadeas because, at the end of the day, he is probably not going to summon the Eldritch God of Hatred.
  2. Or the phrase "dragon's nest" is simply the best "translation" between English and whatever native Nalthis language Warbreaker was written in.
  3. There is a WoB about this but even without that you can learn what happened. If you read the description of the Blade Taln is carrying when he arrives in Kholinar and compare it to the description of the Blade Dalinar uses you will notice that they are completely different Blades. This is why Dalinar hears the screams; someone swapped Taln's original Blade at some point. I think the scene is fairly clear that he was lying but, perhaps, he was not.
  4. I'm on mobile so I am not going to look it up but in a previous thread we accounted for every Honorblade. Unless Sanderson lied through the characters (possible but unlikely imo) then every Honorblade is spoken for and Vasher could not have one. Quick recap of a much longer discussion in that thread: There are ten (10) Honorblades. One (1) went with Taln to Braize. One (1) was reclaimed by a Herald (possibly Nalan but we are not 100% on this). One (1) was with Szeth and is now with Dalinar. The remaining seven (7) are with the Shin.
  5. Not to be a debby-downer but have we ever seen evidence of Inquisitors having some sort of special "the Lord Ruler sense" that could be enhanced by "antenna"? That seems like a bit of a left field theory. That is not to say I am against left field theories but I was wondering if you had any reason for guessing that?
  6. Couple of points: 1| Ruin was missing a part of his power: the Atium. That is why Ruin was so desperately seeking out the Atium; without it, he was weakened. That is also why Vin, as Preservation, could take on Ruin directly (see point #2). 2| Harmony is actually comprised of more Ruin than Preservation because Preservation added a small part of his power to each human. There is a WoB that coyly mentions that Harmony is doing something with that imbalance; i.e. Harmony is diverting a portion of Ruin's power in some way so that he remains in balance; otherwise, as per our best guess, Harmony would overbalance towards Ruin's Intent. I believe the two points I wrote are correct but, if I am wrong, please forgive me.
  7. Lucky for you, I am bored at work and own the Kindle version. That quote it is from Kelsier; it is an inner monologue musing. Full paragraph: "Though, it would be best not to trust his narrative too closely, Kelsier thought, running his fingers across the page. Men rarely see their own actions as unjustified."
  8. This seems to be a solid reason for why Dueling is a Calling.
  9. If you are discussing the chart I think you are discussing then it is worth mentioning that we do not actually know if that is the "Voidbinding" chart or if it corresponds to something else (e.g. fabrials). See this thread:
  10. This has my vote.
  11. There is a "Creator's Corner" forum far to the bottom of the forum list that contains the subforum "Sanderson Fan Fiction". I have never looked in there but I imagine it might have some Mistborn fanfic.
  12. ROUND 1: Vin v Shai: Really, do we even need to talk about this? Bai bai Shai. Vin win. Eshonai v Siris: Shardplate and Shardblade > Regular Armor. Eshonai win. Adolin v Dilaf: Dilaf's speed and strength will, most likely, be matched by Adolin's Shardplate. Adolin win. Raoden v Alcatraz: This is the weirdest fight. I give it to Raoden unless Alcatraz breaks AonDor (unlikely). Raoden win. Kaladin v Hrathen: Hrathen is one of my favorite characters but he is not match for a Windrunner with a live Shardblade. Kaladin win. David v Wayne: David hovers in the air until Wayne is out of Bendalloy and healing. David win. Susebron v Denth: Susebron has the clear advantage in Breaths but Denth is one of the Five Scholars, a Returned, and 100x craftier. Denth win. Wax v Vasher: While Vasher has the same advantages as Denth above (plus some Breath), Wax can hover in the air and has a gun. Never bring a [sword] to a gun fight. Wax win. ROUND 2: Vin v Eshonai: A slightly harder fight for Vin but, in the end, Eshonai is no match for the Ascendant Warrior. Vin win. Adolin v Raoden: Shardplate is surprisingly resistant to Investiture and Shardblade's unsurprisingly kill Elantrians. Adolin win. Kaladin v David: Kaladin owns the skies and does not take kindly to strangers. Kaladin win. Denth v Wax: If Wax can beat Vasher, then Wax can beat Denth. Wax win. ROUND 3: Vin v Adolin: Adolin's only chance was his good looks but Vin's already married. Vin win. Kaladin v Wax: Kaladin might own the skies but Wax shows his true grit in this fight. Wax win. FINAL ROUND: Vin v Wax: An incredible clash of the old and new. Vin and Wax had a short, brutal battle that ended with the sound of a gunshot that just was not enough. Vin win. In my opinion, Vin would be the winner of this tournament.
  13. "You don't understand," the Lord Ruler wheezed. "You don't know what I do for mankind. I was your god, even if you couldn't see it. By killing me, you have doomed yourselves..."
  14. I guess it really depends on the size of the black hole and how close it is to the planet. If the black hole is sufficiently small and sufficiently far away, then I doubt it would pose that great of a risk... I think?
  15. Haha nice! You learn quick! It will be fun having you on the forums!
  16. It is something you can make up. It is a joke my wife and I share; because I read so fast I must be burning graphite so I say I am a "Graphite Misting". I think you can add it under one of the account profile settings. Also, as a very obscure joke, my profile picture is of the molecular structure of graphite.
  17. I think @yafeshan means that you take the second device to the target planet, fill it with weight that has Connection to that planet, and then link the two devices via Connection as well. I do not think it meant to destroy the planet in any way.
  18. I think it would be more proper to offer @TheBillPN a biscuit.
  19. When Rlain is brought to Bridge 4, Kaladin questions why as Parshmen are, usually, more expensive than human labor.
  20. I always assumed he was smuggling Taln to elsewhere... hmm, I will have to reread that part and see if Amaram ever mentions where he is going.
  21. I would agree with this sentiment. Mistborn era 1 was written quite some time ago when Brandon was a (relatively) new author and probably lacked the resources to have a team of alpha readers/editors/assistants who now try and catch hand-wavy stuff like this. While there are some easy outs for him here (e.g. Scadrial humans are not earth era equivalent and were designed by Ruin and Preservation to be able to handle heavy metals at much higher concentrations) I would go with Argel on this one and assume it was just a small gloss-over.
  22. If you reread the fight scene between Kelsier and the Inquisitor at the end of the first Mistborn book, then you will see that Kelsier pushes on one and pulls on the other end of some metal bars in order to get them to spin in the air and block some arrows. Kelsier was a savant of, at least, Steel and Iron. (note: Pathfinder pointed this out to me the other day and it nearly melted my brain!)
  23. I can supply the needed block of cheese and thesaurus if you are running low on the necessary supplies to summon Peter.
  24. While I might be quibbling over semantics, is Compounding really a hack? I mean, isn't it just a "natural" interaction of the two magic systems? In the same way that Surgebinding is a natural interaction of Honor and Cultivation? To me, a hack is doing something that the magic system does not naturally allow to every user; e.g. Vasher feeding on Stormlight to sustain his Returned form. In other words, I always thought Compounding was an intended result and not an accident or a hack.
  25. Fullborn are not, necessarily, a "hack". It is possible for genetics to handle the making of a Fullborn. As far as I know there is no other two-shard magic system that allows for a naturally occurring monster like a Fullborn; everything else would, of necessity, be a "hack". Granted, we have never actually seen a natural Fullborn but the possibility is there. Also, once a Fullborn exists or enough hacking is done, you can replicate Fullborns with relative ease. Mash some nicrosil together with some other metals and voila! As many Fullborn as you want. Again, I do not know of any other Sanderson magic system where such a powerful monster can be created and then easily replicated.
