  1. Not to mention that Preservation got involved in switching out metals (replacing bendalloy and, erm, chromium? with Atium and Malatium). The Shards definitely have some level of influence when they Invest.
  2. Good point though I seriously have doubts if Martin will ever finish ASOIAF. Rothfuss I have a little more hope for (I just started rereading for, like, the 12th time). Name of the Wind is, hands down, one of the most beautifully written books I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
  3. The first Mistborn trilogy is my favorite as well! I love the first book on its own and then I treat book 2 and book 3 as if they are one large book haha. I think 2 and 3 can be a bit slow in places but the payoff of finishing the series is worth every moment.
  4. I had a very similar thought at one point and went digging through WoB's (or maybe someone pointed it out to me?) and found this: Q: A bow, for example? A: They could create, probably...Well, let’s RAFO that one, I’ll show you what’s going to be happening.
  5. Kaladin definitely did not have a spear while using the Parshendi bones as armor. There is no way a bridgeman would have been allowed to be armed.
  6. I, too, think this is the answer. Sigzil is simply a good listener (no, not the Parshendi kind).
  7. Haven't there been hints that Shinovar is different perhaps because Honor or Cultivation made it in the image of where they came from (possibly Yolen)? I always got the impression that Shinovar was an anomaly on Roshar and not a naturally occurring environment.
  8. Without his Shardplate I think Adolin would be at a severe disadvantage. His training has revolved entirely around using his Shardplate as he has always had it (iirc, he inherited from his mother's side of the family). Not to mention that Adolin is used to lower gravity then most other sword fighters (this assumes any world that does not have a specified gravity - ala, WoT, ASOIAF etc. is Earth gravity). I just think the style of fighting as a full Shardbearer is just so radically different when compared to regular swords that it would be almost impossible to compare them.
  9. I believe Kelsier's main issue was that he was a Cognitive Shadow. If the Ire magic was insufficient then the Elantrian (forget her name) who planned on picking up Preservation would have been screwed as well.
  10. Frost refers to Odium's Intent as: "He bears the weight of God’s own divine hatred, separated from the virtues that gave it context." I would imagine that is Odium was a reflection of Rayse's anger then it would not be referred to as "God's", which is, I think, Frost's way of saying Adonalsium. For the record, I do want to say that I am unsure of whether or not the Intents came with the Shards immediately or later. You could very well be correct but I am merely sharing my take on what we know.
  11. I think Frost's letter implies that Rayse was a hateful person and that his Shard matched that - i.e. The Shard Odium was already of Hatred and that Intent matched Rayse's temperament. I could be wrong about that though.
  12. This. Check, I think, the last State of the Sanderson. "The Lost Metal" is the next "big book" slated for the Cosmere after "Oathbringer" iirc.
  13. @Pathfinder As fun as it would be to squabble with you I will just unfollow this thread. You obviously have a different point of view and I am too hungry at the moment to deal with your sarcasm and off-base analogies.
  14. Probably the Rider of the Storm?
  15. Evidence in favor: - Nightblood produces black smoke that is known to be "corrupted" Investiture - Black is the color of combined Investitures - Nightblood is based on a different magic system's product (a Shardblade from Roshar) - One of the main creators of Nightblood is known to have visited Roshar before making Nightblood - This same creator is also known to be able to use Stormlight, Roshar's magic, to fuel certain aspects of Nalthis magic (though this is shown after Nightblood's creation) - Nightblood has been referred to as a "robot spren" and a "broken Shardblade" by Brandon I'd say that is some pretty compelling evidence that Nightblood is more than just Nalthis magic. I would not say it is "confirmed" but I think this is a pretty solid theory. @Drake Marshall's wording of "all but confirmed" is accurate if, perhaps, a bit exaggerated, in my opinion.
  16. Denth is great but I have such a love for how well Hrathen was written in Elantris that I find it hard to decide which is the superior villain. Sanderson is so good at making likable antagonists!
  17. HUGE Mistborn spoilers:
  18. When you are writing a reply there is a toolbar at the top of the editor. If you push the button that looks like an eyeball you get a "spoiler" box inserted for you. Simply type the words you want hidden in that box. I am attaching a photo that has the spoiler button circled in red. Also, when quoting something, you can use the quotation mark button that is to two spots to the left of the spoiler button. Also, on a personal note, please always write what your spoiler tag is hiding right before you actually insert the tag. E.g., if you are hiding spoilers for Mistborn: Secret History then do something like... M:SH spoilers Otherwise people will not know what is contained in the spoilers box and that can be tempting/confusing haha
  19. Depending on how you look at it, Heralds could be considered "not human". Living for thousands of years, enduring supernatural torture for long periods of time, having some amount of unknown magical abilities. In the same way that Brandon says that Hoid started as human but it is now "more complicated" Mraize might be implying that Tezim has reached the "more complicated" stage haha
  20. Clubs was the Smoker. Dockson was not Metalborn. He handled the team finances and supplies. He took Kel's crazy plans and used his incredible quartermaster/account skills to make them possible. Kel was the dreamer and Dox handled the details. Without Dox they would have been broke, lost, and wouldn't have had food/beds haha.
  21. Just a heads up, it is mentioned in the Stormlight Archive that they create aluminium via soulcasting.
  22. I think randuir was referring to the 5th Heightening. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Heightening
  23. Ah, that is a clever plan. Perhaps there is some enhancement to Steelsight granted by the eye spikes?
  24. This would be my tentative vote mainly because of this -> Combined with this -> If we could compare Glys to Ym's spren then we might notice right away that one of these two spren is not what they claim to be.
  25. Normal eyes, as I mentioned in my first post, also cannot see through walls/obstacles. Someone running from a regular soldier could hide in some kind of bolt hole but an Inquisitor would see right through that. Also, while Steelsight does have the disadvantage of metal dust not many people would know that and regular eyes have a ton of ways to be blinded, no? I think Steelsight is a superior sense for what Inquisitors are designed for. It, like anything, has drawbacks but Inquisitors are highly specialized resources and I think the tradeoffs work for them.
