  1. Wouldn't that be what he's doing already? There is a WoB that something's deliberately obscuring Harmony's "vision", preventing him from learning more about Cosmere stuff, and I can't think of anyone beside Odium and Trell (if they're different beings) doing that, or having power to do that.
  2. The Shardpools exist on every world there is (or was: see the Hoed pool in Elantris) a Shard on, so all major Shardworlds should be accessible to worldhoppers. Regarding minor Shardworlds, like Threnody or First of the Sun, I'm not certain - I'm guessing they have their own perpendicularities (Hoid's term for place you can hop into to switch between Realms) where their "native" magic pools. Or they use some leftover Elsecalling fabrials from the first Knights Radiant.
  3. Granted, although it only works on you, and not on your clothes, things you have in your pocket, dirt on your skin or anything else. As your bane, any time your clothes leave your sight, they are somehow misplaced to the most improbable place, albeit not one that would destroy them permanently. I wish to re-learn how to multiply numbers, and not at the cost of my new pet shoggoth. High school finals are not a good time to forget maths...
  4. Harmony is probably not "much" more powerful. Odium is pretty much uninvested in Braize, while Ruin and Preservation spent a lot of themselves in creation of Scadrial and humans there. It could be that Odium is scared of Harmony because his usual enemies (Aona, Skai, Honor) were somewhat invested, and therefore at, say, 0.8 of Odium's power, whereas Harmony could be something like 1.2 or 1.4. Seeing how Odium has already faced and destroyed two Shards on one world, going up against someone 1.4 times more powerful than it might not be such insurmountable odds. Odium's fear may come from the fact that so far, he's only faced Shards weakened by being Invested - think of a bully who suddenly learns there's a new kid on the block that's capable of fighting back. Also, doesn't Odium actually work through Invested pawns, such as Paalm or Fakeless Immortals? For them, slipping into Harmony's sphere of influence is probably not much harder than for someone like that Terriswoman nurse to slip into Endowment's on Nalthis.
  5. As you didn't specify what you'd wish to get, the Nightwatcher picks a random thought from your mind and works with this. Suddenly, a truckload of oysters is dumped on your head. They're fresh, tasty and edible, and will continue to be so for days. However, a moment later you find yourself in the nearest large (larger than a swimming pool, deeper than you're tall) body of water. Clothes-less. I wish for a pet shoggoth that wouldn't eat me or drive me mad.
  6. Do we use webcomics too? Anybody here reads Gunnerkrigg Court? I'd give Kat iron and steel allomancy - working with robots all the time, she'd sure find it handy. Otherwise, AonDor, as the world of GC already has some form of AonDor equivalent magic, so it shouldn't be hard to hack Sanderson's AonDor to fit it, and Kat could do wonders with it if she could access it. For Antimony, f-Duraluminium. That girl really could use some more Connection to people.
  7. Granted. Tomorrow, you will get a letter telling you that one of your beloved relatives has died - and left you a fortune. I wish for some sweet waffles.
  8. You know, The Lost Metal will appear after Oarthbringer. So while I'm not very convinced, it is possible that Oathbringer will end with Odium being free to roam the galaxy, and book 5 will end with something entirely worse.
  9. Rithmatist is pretty good (I was all "why, why is there not part two already?!" upon finishing it), although yeah, it is more YA-ish. Then again, I don't read much YA either, and I liked it a lot. It's certainly different than the recent teenage dystopia fare, and magic is really interesting and fun to read about, not to mention the plot has your typical Sandersonian twists and turns. I wasn't overly fond of main character - he's a bit too run-of-the-mill for me - but the support cast more than makes up for it. Melody is awesome. Reckoners are good as well, though I admit I like Rithmatist more. Can't say about Alcatraz.
  10. Perhaps the Third Oath for them is something along the lines of "I will follow the spirit of the law rather than the letter when it is just", much like Third Oath of Windrunners is something of an addendum to the Second.
  11. *reads the unfolding craziness* Wellp, I've started this.
  12. Volratho posted it in thread on Chicago-Naperville part of Calamity tour, page three. Here's the link they've given. The reading starts roughly halfway through.
  13. Granted. The next time you take part in any competition or lottery with a car as a prize, you'll win it. However, until the end of your life, you will be plagued by phone calls from used car salesmen. I wish for a free luxurious around-the-world cruise.
  14. Wolverine publicity, most likely, to bring in people who know the books but aren't Sharders and aren't much interested in Scadrial as a whole.
  15. Re: Elantrians and how Aons could be discovered: seeing how Harmony is not really taking the hands-off approach with Scadrial, could it be that Devotion also took her time and clued Elantrians in? Dreams, this sort of stuff (it's been a while since I've read Elantris, but didn't Raoden have Significant Dreams?). Assuming this happened before Odium's field trip, of course. Dakhor could be Dominions' counter to this. I know it's probably in tinfoil hat territory, but there's really no other way I can see people figuring this stuff out on their own.
  16. Good sleuthing, and I agree with your conclusions. I thought of German too (I learn German at school, so that wasn't a great logical leap to make), though I didn't look into Allik's name. Interesting! For an added bonus, am I seeing things where there are none, or could NoScad and SoScad's relationship mirror that of real-life France and Germany? They were quite hostile for the longest while (can you say "Alsace-Lorraine"?) before being rather forced to become "friends" in face of an external threat (Cold War and USSR). SoScad and NoScad have already hit it off on a rather less-than-friendly note, after all, and we know external threat exists... and is red.
  17. *a wild tinfoil hat theory appears!* Regarding OP's question of who the woman on "voidbringing" chart is, I've just got this weird thought. What if it's Dalinar's wife? We know from all the RAFO's that she might be more significant than simply being Dalinar's Lost Lenore. She's blonde-haired, as evidenced by Adolin's fashionable mop, and being married to an Alethi like Dalinar would force her to cover her safehand. I know it's kind of evidence-lacking and completely off-the-wall thought, but stranger things were conceived on the Shard.
  18. If we're talking Earth past events of Reckoners, I'd probably pick an Epic with power of teleportation or some sort of precognition. Otherwise, I'm torn between Awakening, which is insanely vertarsile and could be really useful, especially if I talked people on the street into giving me their Breaths, and Sparker (Mental Speed Ferring), which in my everyday life of not fighting crime would probably be more handy than more combat-oriented powers. Or better yet, Sparker/Slider Twinborn. I'd breeze through exams, job interviews and life itself like it was the easiest thing.
  19. This makes much sense. Highspren and starspren - always high in the skies - look like fitting cousins. Also, did anyone consider analogy of falling stars (AKA meteorites) and Skybreaker using Gravitation downward and hitting the ground with Division?
  20. You are the ultimate policeman.
  21. This is a solid theory (and well-explained one!). I can absolutely see it being correct. I wonder, in this case, it'd be possible to create more "leaking" metalminds. Going by your theory, the advantage of nicrosil is that the more you tap it the more you can tap it, so other "leaking" metalmind would probably work, but be "tappable" (totally a word) at a very slow pace... From other observations: Drabs wouldn't be able to tap medallions*. Would Rosharan gem fill with Stormlight if you put it near nicrosil medallion? Could Radiant get investiture from such medallion? Anyway, I like the theory, and it looks good to me. *As a way to test the waters, someone could ask Brandon whether Drabs could use SoScad medallions. Or was it asked already?
  22. When you don't have to check on Coppermind to catch that reference.
  23. Edit: ninja'd! Well... Granted. You're contracted to do the cover art for the first book in "modern" Mistborn trilogy. If all goes well, you could even get all three. As your bane, you now hiccup every time you say, write or think the word "cover". I wish for some kindly time traveller to drop by and give me all volumes of White Sand.
  24. But the blade didn't vanish from either Amaram's or Kaladin's hand at any point... You'd think Heleran would've summoned it back as soon as he realized the borrowing person isn't among the living anymore. While I do agree that the person Kaladin has killed may not be Heleran, I think we should use Occam's Razor here. Red-haired Sharbearer with the same sword Shallan remembers Heleran having? It could be another Veden, but I think it's far more likely it's actually Heleran. Not to mention that it gives more possibilities, narrative-wise, if Shallan finds out Kaladin was the one to kill her brother.
