  1. Oh gods, that's a tough one. I think Stormlight, though - Roshar and its magics are so out there, I think anime could really do them justice. And it would go on for far longer than a Mistborn movie. Were you at the Shattering, would you rather grab Preservation or Honor?
  2. The sun in the symbol has sixteen rays. Nice detail.
  3. If it is Khriss on the cover, as the OP suggests, then perhaps we'll see something when White Sand comes out. Great cover, btw, gets me hyped for Arcanum Unbounded. Also, is it just me, or is it by the same artist who did Sixth of the Dusk and Perfect State covers? If so, can anyone point me to who the artist is?
  4. Couple of problems with that, though I wouldn't say they are necessarily proofs: I think it would undermine Kaladin's arc, the same way the "Kaladin is Dalinar's son" theory would. If Lirin was actually a Herald, wouldn't he find a way to deal with Roshone? He lacks other Heralds' crazy. Nale is justice-bound, Kalak is paranoiac, Jezrien is drunk, Ash hates her image, and Lirin acts... like a regular, if flawed, human being, really. All the divine attributes that would befit a surgeon (Healing, Giving, Caring) are associated with female Heralds, not male ones. In fact, the Herald said to specialize in surgery is Vedel, who's definitely a woman.
  5. This looks so awesome. I admit I wasn't sold on Kenton's looks when I saw the previews, but he looks great here, and Khriss' expression is just so fantastic! Excuse me while I'll sit here for a moment and admire...
  6. Navani did note that she and Gavilar had grown very much apart by the time the Parshendi were encountered. It could be that they were pretty much sleeping in separate bedrooms by the time the ravings started. Still, that RAFO on Gavilar's visions is pretty suspicious (I'm pretty sure it was a RAFO, can anyone check Theoryland? I can't access it). Then again, Taravangian does mention "Unite them" as part of the vision, and that's a mainstay in Danilar's vlogs from Almighty. If the visions are Odium-influenced, as Argel suggests, then why would Odium want Gavilar to unite mankind? Is it as tricky as to know that SoH and Diagrammists will make everything worse rather than better? ...I feel like I'm running in circles. Do you think a question "did Gavilar rave and act possessed like Dalinar did when he had is visions" would prompt a RAFO?
  7. Long post alert. You're not taking numbers into consideration. There are, counting conservatively, thousands of Koloss and less than a hundred Shardblades (Coppermind gives 20 for Alethkar, 20 for Jah Keved, 40 for the rest of the world). There are some tens of thousands of Allomancers and Ferrings, as well as several Compounders (several dozen?), against six known Surgebinders, three of which are not in the same place the rest of them, and four of which don't have the capability to travel fast - capacity which Scadrial allomancers and ferrings don't need because with their numbers, they can be everywhere. As for Cultivation, she doesn't seem very interested in preventing destruction by Voidbringers; I don't see her coming out of hiding just because destruction is coming from another world this time. Nightwatcher and Ironeyes seem to be rather similar in terms of just how helpful they are - the Nightwatcher may just as well punish those who seek help with a bane that renders it useless, and Ironeyes doesn't seem to be going out much these days (though of course we don't know just what's happenning behind the scenes). Either way, I wouldn't count them as assets on either side. Even if we make Shardbearers really overpowered and say that every Shardbearer is worth 50 Koloss, there are still many more Koloss. Even if one Radiant is worth a hundred Allomancers, there are still more Allomancers. Unless we count Voidbringers - and we don't really know what they do yet - then Scadrial has, IMO, a distinct advantage over Roshar in magic department. The regular military forces of Roshar are far more intersting, as they have more experience and more evolved tactics, so they might pull the tide over to Roshar's side - at least until Radiants and Sharbearers are dealt with and Allomancers and Koloss can join regular combat. If Scadrial played defensively, though, the army might have a problem operating in Elendel. Somehow, I don't see Rosharans being used to urban combat, whereas Scadrians, with their knowledge of the city and weapons that let them snipe the enemy from high floors - not to mention the capability to block any streets they wish - would be capable of playing them like a fiddle. Unless we're talking Lord Ruler-era Scadrial - I admit I'm quite at lost as to which time period exactly we're discussing. If we're talking Lord Ruler era, we can guess there were more Shardblades back then (two hundred, then? just guessing), but no Surgebinders. In this case, Scadrial gets a well-controlled army of Koloss and the Lord Ruler himself, who, as previously discussed, is a game breaker. For all we know, TLR could just end all Shardbearers himself and then leave the mundane army to be picked off by Koloss. Lord Ruler era versus modern Roshar gives Rosharans those six Surgebinders of theirs, but again, he's idiotically powerful. Unless he lets someone get close enough to tear off his atiumminds, he could probably wipe the floor with each and every single one of them - except perhaps Jasnah, who could escape to Shadesmar and attempt to Soulcast him from there. Still, I don't think she'd be capable of Soulcasting someone as invested as TLR. Quite honestly, the only situation where I see Roshar winning would be pre-Recreance Roshar vs. Scadrial of any era. The thousands of Radiants of the time would probably be capable of destroying Lord Ruler, and then routing the rest of Scadrian forces would be fairly easy. Likewise, if era 2 Scadrial was the aggressor, the Radiants could beat them quite handily. If we want to keep this time period-appropriate, Radiant-ful Roshar vs. Classical Scadrial would be even more laughably one-sided.
  8. Aluminium gnat. It should keep me free of Emotional Allomancy, and Would you rather live in Hallandren as a Drab unable to stop being Drab, or in Idris, but with your Breath?
  9. You know, I think I've read that, but it somehow slipped my mind. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where my ideas on what the future holds for Kaladin came from. I can see this happenning. A good test for his "Protect even those I hate" Oath, wouldn't that be?
  10. I suspect that Kaladin will arrive to find Hearthstone ruined by the Everstorm, but with survivors still there, including his parents. It would be a good place to start the "Leading" part of his Windrunner advancement - you know the saying, "only in his hometown is the prophet without honor" or something like this? Probably the hardest place for Kaladin to start leading people will be the one where everyone knew him since he's been born.
  11. Literally the first thread I've read after introducing myself to the Shard had a five-paragraphs-long post about Renarin penned by you... It's not hard to notice at all.
  12. Doesn't it have a dedicated AI to help control it? Jarvis, then Friday?I suppose that could make the armour somewhat harder to soulcast, what with it having a stronger Identity or something that would interfere with this (I know we've seen a person being soulcast while a stick was un-soulcast-able, but there's a difference in experience levels of soulcasting person).
  13. I'd agree that there's something off about Gavilar's endgame being to return Parshendi gods. If we assume his visions were the same as Dalinar's (wasn't that RAFO'd?), then the "let's bring back Voidbringers" looks pretty fishy. Consider the train of thought: 1. True Desolation etc. is coming; 2. This is bad, we need heralds to defend ourselves 3. Heralds return in the time of Desolations 4. We must cause a Desolation 5. Return to point 1. I mean, a simple skip reveals this runs on something of a circular logic. Was Gavilar hoping that if he brought back the Parshendi gods, the Desolation wouldn't be a "true" one, and therefore less severe? There's also the fact that the Sons of Honor's endgame is not to return the Heralds, but to return the Vorin Theocracy. This is also wonky in terms of Gavilar's involvement, as the Vorin dominance was brought down by Sunmaker, whom, as Coppermind notes, Gavilar revered. Why would Gavilar act against his idol? Or did he lie about this and actually reviled him? Why would he do that, if he could simply act noninvolved in the whole Sunmaker issue? I suppose it could be that Gavilar wants to cause a mini-Desolation (or what he'd see as a mini-Desolation) to reinstate the Vorin church as per "unite them" order, and bring in the Heralds to ready the people for the upcoming True Desolation in one fell swoop. There are problems with that, too. You'd think that he knew just how destructive the Desolations were - he presumably saw the Nohadon vision Dalinar did, and heard the numbers, but alright, let's say that he thinks that with Heralds on his side and what's left of humanity united in one spot, mankind can survive the True Desolaton. But it's accepted Vorin canon that Heralds appear in time to prepare the people. Does Gavilar think he know when they should arrive better than them? And if he saw the Midnight Essence vision, and thus the information that the Radiants defend people from Desolation - and if he'd want to bring back the Radiants because of that - how will he make this agree with dominance of Vorinism, which teaches evilness of Radiants? It's like... the more you think about Gavilar, the less sense he makes. This is a good idea. Off the top of my head, Coppermind character pages having "theories" sections would be a nice thing to have.
  14. Wow! I have little more to say than oh gosh, this is awesome. Love your rendition of Veil (and Veil/Kaladin, Shallan/Adolin would be pretty funny indeed). Unfortunately, I can't see anything past Urithiru Knights closeup, but the rest is great! Also, I think I'd make myself an Urithiru Knights T-shirt. May I?
  15. Great, now I'm imagining a scene of Sazed escaping with Scadrial in his arms while Galactus runs after him with a fork and a knife...
  16. Excellent! I've always wanted a watch dog... crab... creature. I'll trade a dead Shardblade, though it seems to be wonky - it's impossible to bond with it.
  17. Fifth Heightening. Immortality is cool, and if I got bored with it, I could just Awake some stuff, which is also cool. And I wouldn't be sent to combat evil creepy chalk drawings, which would be the case if I was a Rithmatist. Would you rather have Renarin's visions or Dalinar's visions?
  18. Well, he presumably did find a way to create bajilion copies of the same memory, so he could simply tap one of the coins to regain it. On a vaguely-related not, I really like @Oversleep's idea.
  19. Hmmm... I'll take my chances with Calamity. I can always just keep my head down and maybe get myself hired as some Epic's lackey, and who knows? Maybe I'll become Epic myself. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't survive even the first Everstorm, let alone the voidbringers. During the events of Wok and WoR, would you rather be a Parshman or a Parshendi?
  20. *checks ending of WoR* Nope. "Ugly lizard-crab thing".
  21. Considering he's talking to a crab-thing in this scene, I don't think it was anyhow confused BTW, @antgrgmn, nice catch! Didn't notice that on the re-reads.
  22. Looking through the site, I've noticed the logos on top. It's a nice touch that gallery is marked with Lightweaver symbol and Coppermind with Truthwather one. Still haven't figured out how to see which of my post have been up- and downvoted, though. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?
  23. I'd much rather read through them like everyone else. Journey before destination, right? If you were to get one of Brandon's upcoming books tomorrow, which one would you chose: White Sand part one or Arcanum Unbounded?
  24. I was surprised when I saw the blue Shadesmar, and I guess it'll take some time getting used to but wow! The site looks awesome, all... bright and modern. Edit: in the previous version there was an option to check which of your posts were up- and downvoted on the profile page, but I can't find it anywhere now...?
  25. My favourite character is actually Elokhar (yes, really), but in lieu of his absence, I guess Elend. There's just... something about him that I really like. Maybe the fact that he brings forbidden books to read at a formal party. Favourite magic system: definitely allomancy. The most internally consistent, logical and flat-out scientific magic system I've ever seen, and one that somehow manages to still surprise us while remaining within reason. Favourite work: Stormlight Archive. I have to admit, I've read Elantris right after Words of Radiance, and the difference is downright staggering. ...and yeah, Wax's absence is rather odd. All protagonists of Brandon's works are there, and yet he isn't, as aren't Wayne and MeLaan, who seem to have a pretty sizeable fandom, as far as I've seen.
