Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Rasarr replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. However, any time you are in the same room as an analog clock, you hear it so loudly, it drowns out any other sound. When it comes to tower clocks, this happens only if you're in the building housing them. I wish to be capable of consciously deciding when I fall asleep and when I wake up. -
For some reason, the first thing I thought upon a re-read was that he summoned Glys, though I don't know if a spren would be content with being used as a writing implement... or if Renarin is past his Third Oath, for that matter. Still. It's a weird thing for Shallan to bring attention to.

There was a thread where very similar idea was discussed. The two problems that came up with this were that (1), the journey would still take nigh-eternity for people inside the ship, and (2), if the "living spaces" of the ship would be coated with Aluminium so that the journey would take shorter, the acceleration of the ship itself would kill everyone aboard.

Game: Scenes that Brandon will most likely write about

Lays on his bed, sneezing and cursing foreigners while Maib tends to him and they exchange good-natured barbs alluding to the fact that now, when Maib finally made him marry her, he got sick and unable to go fishing. Lhan -
Just a couple things I've noticed when re-reading WoR
Rasarr replied to TySun's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wonder what a Lerasiummind could do... If burning Lerasium bestows allomancy on everyone, perhaps feruchemically, Lerasium is some sort of universal stores-all, everyone-can-use-it metalmind? This could explain how Hoid, with nary a drop of Terris blood in his veins, can use Feruchemy to find stuff of interest (seeing how he was running around Terris Dominance during events of WoA, I'd argue that he didn't have Feruchemy to guide him before getting that bead). -
It's incorrect. I actually started a thread on this one and after a while, Peter popped in and clarified that Brandon was exhausted and thus answered incorrectly. They're not in the same system. This WoB should probably be deleted from Theoryland.

Facepalm-worthy Moments during Readings
Rasarr replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
Would you believe I've read most of first Mistborn trilogy without realizing Terris have different skin colour than rest of Scadrians? It took fanart to make me realize my mistake. -
Nalan seems like the obvious one to reclaim his Honorblade, which only leaves one missing. Perhaps he also took one of Regrowth-giving Blades?

Moving a bit into tinfoil hat territory, perhaps there's too little Stormlight there for spren to manifest in Physical Realm? Shinovar is the only country on the face of Roshar that doesn't get its semi-regular dose of highstorms - and Stormlight they bring with them - and the only country not to have visible spren, so I'm guessing there's some connection.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Nightwatcher, uncertain how to interpret this, gives you a medallion filled up to brim with Feruchemical Luck. As your bane, all music sounds like white noise to you. I wish to be able to see in the dark. -

Cheerfully conversing with Hoid and the Sixteen Vessels-to-be before telling them, just as cheerfully, that he knows perfectly well why they're here. Nale/Nalan -
And now we know at least part of the reason behind Adolin's poor luck with ladies...

How exactly is the True Desolation different from previous ones
Rasarr replied to Arcoss's topic in Stormlight Archive
Highstorms predate Shards on Roshar, it's been at JordanCon. Later Brandon said that we'll learn more about this from the Great Grumpy One himself in SA3. -
Sheep, you have no idea how happy I was when I saw that there are new posts in this thread. Yes for more excellent art! I especially love the vintage posters - I imagine this could be something that could exist in some sort of future-er Roshar.

Memes thread! I got 13 upvotes from one post alone. More on-topic, wouldn't Harmony "resurrect" Mistbornness, was it to become extinct? He's capable of curing all sorts of diseases in people, as proven with the Catacendre, and turned Spook from Misting into Mistborn. It doesn't seen far-fetched that he could react and reintroduce Allomancy genes somehow if they were at risk of going extinct. Even if it's impossible for him to actually "will" them into existence in non-metalborn, he could simply strengthen existing genes. He's prescient - he'd know when to act.

Ialai corners Adolin and threatens to reveal his part in Sadeas' murder to Dalinar unless Adolin does her a favour. And then another. And another. Siri (yes, I am re-reading Warbreaker...) -

Gah, I keep on mistaking those two names. Why do we have to have two leading men with psychological problems and names starting with "K"? Aaanyway... Vasher/Zahel. Encountering Szeth, he coldly states "it's my sword" and proceeds to wreck Szeth, or at least try to, to get Nightblood back. Susebron -
The deleted scene Tor has published on their website explains she kept herself alive with Stormlight and then Elsecalled to Shadesmar so that her would-be killers wouldn't realize she survived. In the epilogue, she simply Elsecalls back to the Physical Realm.

Done. On-topic: you use Awakening and tell your favourite scarf to Grab Things. Being a scarf, it promptly latches onto your neck.

Kelsier meets with his parents and struggles to tell them what happened to Tien. They try to comfort him, he tries to comfort them and everyone (including the readers) cries, because this scene is harrowing. Vasher/Zahel -
I'm guessing his Spiritweb may somehow "translate" his Stormlight to consummable (and useable) Breath, so that he could use it for Awakening as well as susteinance - SL and Breath are just two states of the same thing, after all, though if what Dragon says is correct, some compression could be hapenning to turn Stormlight into Breath. If that's indeed so, then he should be able to Awaken or store Stormlight/Breath in a bowl or somesuch for the time of Weeping, consuming some until more Stormlight happens. Or maybe he has some Breaths left for a rainy day from Nalthis? I don't recall on what Heightening he finished Warbreaker, but if he was on Third, he'd have enough Breath to supply himself during the Weepings for some two centuries. If nothing of the above, yeah, he probably stockpiles large gems. At any rate, he doesn't return to Nalthis for the time of Weeping - he's seen giving Kaladin life advice when Dalinar's making way towards Narak, after all, and it seems to be an annual thing for him.

I admit I find Sadeas' death to be my favourite. For one, I find Sadeas to be really despicable, probably one of the most "love to hate" characters I've ever read, so I was all "go Adolin!" and happy that finally someone decides to deal with the man in the most appropriate manner. For other, it's bound to have impact. There are deaths that everyone reacts to in "yup, he's dead. Now, who's up for shwarma?" kind of manner, which is annoying, but Sadeas is going to haunt the Kholins from beyond the grave. And the whole scene's greatly written, too. I find it really intense, because the first time I read it, I honestly didn't expect Adolin to finally snap and just-flat out murder the guy, and so brutally at that. A close-quarters struggle with a knife really stands out compared to Goldilocks' ballets at the duelling field.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Rasarr replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
The Nightwatcher gives you an electrummind and makes you an electrum Ferring. Your bane is that you now become extremely uneasy whenever you see an equilateral triangle. I wish to score 90% on my speaking exam next week (high school finals, eek! ) -
Perhaps much like there is Yolish Lightweaving that's similar to Rosharan Lightweaving (the difference being, IIRC, that Yolish Lightweavers had to use sand, while Rosharan ones need Stormlight), there could also be Yolish Feruchemy startingly similar to Scadrian one. Looking at Lightweaving, actually, I'd argue that when Dragonsteel rolls around we'll be seeing a lot of magic similar to what we've already seen in the rest of the Cosmere. Brandon could, then, theoretically, wriggle out of some questions by not mentioning whether we're talking Yolish or local version of magic X (see: the statement that Kaladin had technically met two Lightweavers). Though I do agree that various WorldXers organizations are probably all Hoid's doing.
