  1. Sanderson coming to Poland would be pretty awesome (also, hello!). He did mention in the recent Reddit update that he plans for an European tour, maybe Poland could be one of his stops? Please let it be so, please let it be so...
  2. Wow. The way you put it, Lightweaving really is overpowered. And the comment about Lightweaver lasers has me pretty excited. On slightly different note, does Brandon's comment about gamma radiation means the further the Lighweaver goes from visible (or audible?) spectrum, the more Stormlight they have to use to get there? Also, someone with in-depth knowledge of wave physics would absolutely rock as a Lightweaver. *notes the idea down for a possible fanfic* For more capabilities of Lightweavers - if I'm understanding this picture correctly (I probably don't), Shallan should also be capable of manipulating heat in some fashion.
  3. Perhaps they employ Leechers at the entrance? Though I'm not sure if that wouldn't qualify as some sort of violation of privacy. Someone has to ask Brandon what precautions do Scadrian schools take against Ferring and Misting students. A propos of nothing, I'd really watch something like a John Hughes movie taking place on Scadrial.
  4. I had a lot of problems with Aonic names as well, took me several times seeing Brandon write the proper pronounciation for the right one to stick. As for Adolin, what's the proper pronounciation, actually? I always read it as "Ah-doh-leen", but people keep on saying about surprising pronounciation of it, so I don't know... Funnily enough, I never had a problem with Jasnah - probably because where I live, "J" is pronounced as "Y", so I was quite relieved to hear that my pronounciation agrees with the official one. Also, because in Polish (and several other Slavic languages, I think) "jasna" - read "yasnah" - means "bright", so... What are the chances this is on purpose?
  5. @Landis963, I'm guessing the "thick hairpins" are Hemalurgic spikes. Looking online, a lot of hairpins, especially old-fashioned ones, have only one "branch", so Shallan may've assumed a fancy spiky thing is a hairpin.
  6. Oh gods, this is awesome! I must trade something equally awesome in return. So... I trade Lift, with a spren attached.
  7. Is that... Kaladin and Shallan falling into the chasm?
  8. The Kaladin "shash" is for dangerous, while the "shash" on Lightweaver glyph refers to number "shash", or 6 (oddly enough, that's the only Radiant glyph to be named by its number rather than Order or Herald). Either "six" and "dangerous" are homonyms in Rosharan language, or "dangerous" shash figures somehow into "Lightweaver" shash (which is fairly probably, those things are so stylized...). In other words, someone's been adding Radiants glyphs to the coppermind and, rather than call Lightweaver glyph "Lightweaver" or "Shalash", decided to call it by its number.
  9. If multiple copies of Words of Radiance did, then this could, too, and Words is much more explicit about what it is. It could be that the Hierocrats (how do we call Hierocracy rulers? Arch-ardents?) thought someone forgot to draw a chair or somesuch. Though if it was a hovering Windrunner/Skybreaker indeed, then it's a really cool easter egg.
  10. @sheep, I haven't worn it in public yet, but I did show it to my family and they loved it. Where I live, the "sports team style" isn't as recognizable as such (our sport teams have logos stylized more like old-timey heraldic coats-of-arms), so I'll probably won't get asked about Urithiru Knights team, but if somebody does ask, I'll probably say "knighting". Fun fact: after an explanation of what the picture represents, the first question was "So you've stolen someone's design?" It's good to feel trusted... Also, I love the new batch of art! Your whitespine design is awesome, both in flesh and as a patronus, and it's cool how Kaladin is holding the broom like he'd be holding a spear. And yeah, a whitespine is definitely something Kaladin would get Shallan as a gift.
  11. When you're at the swimming pool and suddenly start wondering what a Vorinism-adhering woman swimsuit would look like, then spend the rest of swimming time figuring it out.
  12. Hm, this looks like fun... and is harder than I thought, especially considering that my knowledge of classical Hollywood is, unfortunately, quite low. Gene Kelly for Lightsong... something about that smile in Wikipedia photos of him. Charlie Chaplin for Haverseth/Bluefingers. He has that "innocent look" down the pat. Gerard Depardieu for Tonk Fah, because he sorta fits the description, if you squint. Elisabeth Taylor for Blushweaver, hands-down. Richard Burton for Llarimar. He has a scowl that would compliment Kelly's smile. And of course, the entire film is in black and white, because what better medium to show Awakening in? Alright, so the work is The Emperor's Soul. You've got: Ken Watanabe Daniel Wu Priyanka Chopra Amr Waked Iko Uwais
  13. Mine won't arrive until late July... Ah, the charm of living half the world away from US...
  14. Both arrive at the Shattered Plains because they're unwanted in Alethkar. Dalinar is like a chocolate cookie.
  15. Going by the afterword to Bands of Mourning, Brandon plans for it to come out after Oathbringer, so I suppose this is going to be what he'll write after finishing SA3. So... mid-2017? Late 2017?
  16. Therefore it deliberately lets it stew in its own sauce so that it could get even more powerful before being let loose on the world? Mind, I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea that this is the motivation, but I think the fact that the Fakeless Immortal (who clearly is affiliated with Red Haze in some fashion) has been talking about changing the plans to wiping out all of Scadrial, suggests that the Shard is, in fact, evil. I'm pretty sure there are methods of evening the playing field that don't involve slaughtering several hundred million people. <edit: if that sounded offensive, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that.> Overall, Scadrial entering the worldhopping scene is bound to make it really interesting. They are, alongside Rosharans, the only culture who has the capability to use magic on an industrial scale, and the only culture who can take their magitek with them and can find a source for their powers wherever they choose to go - Stormlight doesn't occur outside Roshar, Dor is bound to get useless away from Sel, Breaths are exclusive to Nalthians and the sand is just a normal sand without Taldain's sun. They are also the only culture with the ability to outright steal other culture's magic via Hemalurgy, and are not only furthest-advanced society, but also the most populous one. The deck is stacked pretty well in their favour. It is, frankly, no surprise that someone would want to cut them short before some sort of Pax Scadrialica happens.
  17. Oh gods yes this has to happen, this would be hilarious! "The most valuable thing in life is ______" "Honor"/"Being mysterious"/"Hats" Anyway, re: the picture. I think I'll agree with CalypsoDreaming, but for the sake of being different - Kaladin meeting Syl in the slave cage, back in the beginning of WoK?
  18. Nicrosil Compounder Awakener. If my pet theory about Nicrosil-stored Investiture being able to stand in for any other is correct, such a person would never actually have to worry about obtaining Breath for their works. Though that makes me wonder - inasmuch as Stormlight and Breath are interchangeable to some extent, would other forms of Investiture be also? Could an Awakener "feed" on Aon Aon, or a Radiant obtain Investiture from ChayShan if they were on Sel?
  19. Whatever was in that cookie, it returned me to the land of the living. Phew! I trade a set of four fancy hats.
  20. I've refreshed and... storms, I love your rendition of Carrot! I could absolutely see a buddy cop movie with those two, and it would be hilarious. As for the shirt, I really don't mind messiness of it. Looks really nice once printed, though I'm not sure if this quality photograph will convey this. I haven't photo'd myself in it because I'm a terrible model, it turns out. I'm not sure whether to send it to Brandon, or how, for that matter... I don't have a Twitter...
  21. I'll take it, I can sell it to this Khriss gal who's been snooping around my shop lately. I'll trade a dummy soulcaster I've stolen acquired.
  22. *checks above* Good grief, I have memorizing capabilities of a goldfish. Szeth, actually. It pays to be nice to an assassin, I think, and come on, the guy needs a break. Would you rather have a coffee with Kelsier or Kaladin?
  23. I don't think there is any relation between visions and death rattles. The death rattles are fairly explicitly stated to come from Unmade Moelach, whereas the visions are sendings from the Almighty, passed to Dalinar by Stormfather. I suppose the visions coming in highstorms, and thus at the same time for everyone, come from the fact that only then is the air saturated with Stormlight enough for Stormfather to be capable of "broadcasting" those visions to Dalinar, Gavilar and, maybe, Kaladin. As for how visions work, I understand them to be something akin to Assassin's Creed's Animus. You can enter memories and interact with them to some extent, provided you don't go off the rails too much, but at the end of the day they're just that - memories of something long past. The minor changes you make in your vision won't impact what's already happened.
  24. I admit, when it comes to Nale, I'm in the "he's simply insane" camp. Sometimes a duck is just a duck, and wouldn't that be a twist, coming from Brandon?
  25. It's in WoR, and I admit I was talking from memory. To reach for the source: Jasnah's prologue has Nalan and person-the-Shard-has-almost-certainly-identified-as-Kalak talking. So perhaps paranoiac isn't the rightest word. Hypochondriac? As for Jezrien, the parting words of Nale in Lift interlude. So... not sure if he's gone senile or is a drunkard indeed. At any rate, both are definitely less adjusted to the world than Lirin.
