Hurt and Heal Non-Cosmere Characters
Rasarr replied to KnightRadiant's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Now I'm straining my mind trying to remember who was who. At least I know I don't support Alcatraz characters, because I didn't read that one. So... heal Leeds, hurt Kaz... whoever that was... 1. David--8 2. Megan--10 3. Cody--5 4. Prof.--5 5. Abraham--5 6. Tia--5 7. Mizzy--5 9. Joel--6 10. Melody--8 11. Alcatraz--4 12. Bastille--4 13. Grandpa Smedry--5 14. Kaz--3 15. Attica Smedry--4 16. Shasta Smedry--5 17. Stephen Leeds--8 19. J.C.--5 20. Tobias--5 -
I think this works better at the very end; like title screen -> black -> this happens, complete with some ambient music.

That rumored shard that just wants to live and stay away from Odium

@zeppomarks: -
@zeppomarks, koloss children are only koloss-blooded; they still need spikes to become full-fledged koloss, and IIRC, they only get those upon maturity; they might have a lot more of spikes going around than kandra do, thanks to having larger numbers from the outset. I don't recall if kandra can breed or not, but if they can, it's likely they need spikes to make their kids into "full" kandra rather than mistwraiths, just as koloss don't birth "true" koloss.

Consider the OP in this thread. To quote the relevant part: But I like your theory. I'm guessing gold works similar to soulstamp, in that it reaches into Spiritual Realm for "data", but perhaps it could be buffed somehow so that it could act in Cognitive one? Say, pumping it with Investiture to the point where it can manifest in CogRealm, and thus do something for you there.
-
I'd think Vessels' bodies are stored in CogRealm somewhere, considering they just randomly drop out of "nowhere" when the Vessel dies. Though granted, with Kelsier having freedom of movement in the Cognitive, he could find Sazed's body, but (1) why would Sazed let him keep it, and (2) that still leaves us with the issue of coming back to PhysRealm. I like the idea about Kelsier resurrecting into a Feruchemist body; perhaps it could somehow let him keep Feruchemist's power. As for what Kelsier's purpose might be, he's already seen that there are people out there with much greater Cosmere awareness, capability to travel to other worlds and questionable work ethics. He could attempt to make Scadrial advance technologically into medallions and stuff to ensure his homeworld has a fighting chance when something like Ire 2.0 shows up.

Aaand I've missed the final kill. I too didn't expect Rithmatics to last long, let alone win. I admit I'd prefer Shardworlds to be next, but honestly, we can do both one after another.

Stormlight Archive Youtube miniseries
Rasarr replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think it's unimportant from SA-only perspective; it introduces the Purelake, and I'd bet the happy worldhopping trio will show up in the future. I'd say keep Cosmere stuff - how much of "pure Cosmere" is there, anyway? I can't think of anything beyond this one Interlude. I think I've proposed before, over on Discord, to put interludes in beginnings of episodes, disregarding the order in which they were in the book. This would make scenes like this stand out less. -
I just got freaked out by how much points Rithmatics had over Surgebinding, hoped to even the odds a bit. I still support Rithmatics! On this note, hurt Surgebinding, heal Rithmatics. 7. Surgebinding - 36 15.Rithmatics - 49

Stormfather's been mentioned as having been seriously hurt by Recreance, suggesting he was bonded at the time. He's also apparently merged with Tanavast's Cognitive Shadows, which could certainly give him some "oomph", compared to other spren, even godspren. Random theory time: I'm guessing Cuciseh used to be as powerful as Stormfather and Nightwatcher, and when Recreance came, there were two Bondsmiths, one with Cuciseh, one with Stormfather. Stormfather managed oathbreaking thanks to additional oomph of Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow, whereas Cuciseh didn't have that, and thus got broken, part of his power and sentience ripped out of him. Maybe he's displaying faces of all the Radiants he's been bonded with throughout the ages? With some 3,000-odd years between Aharietiam and Recreance, and then a long, long time of one Desolation after another, it could be a ton of people. Maybe that's Cuciseh's equivalent of a dog waiting for its dead master. Wyndle notes that his "mother" (i.e. Cultivation) picked Lift for Radianthood, and her "Awesomeness" is somehow the result of her visit to the Nightwatcher. This implies quite heavily that Nightwatcher=Cultivation.

The visions are clearly some sort of prep before a Desolation, so I'm guessing they'd been appearing long before Kholin brothers got their hands on Way of Kings. Stormfather is apparently forced (by Tanavast's CogShadow?) to send them, so could he try cheating the system out of spite? Say, he's compelled to send the visions to someone exhibiting some set of qualities, but ol' Skyface can't be bothered to care about humanity's survival, so he finds a random person that technically meets the criteria, not caring whether said person is in position to change anything. Cue Gavilar, who, having read Way of Kings and adopted its teaching, becomes the perfect receiver that Stormy's forced to send visions to. When Gavilar dies, Stormfather returns to his previous MO - hence the random potter - until Dalinar adopts the same policies his brother did, becoming the perfect receiver. Something like that, yeah - Hierocracy claimed to receive prophecies, so it had to be Sunmaker proclaiming them to be false. I wonder if an old idea someone had, that Sunmaker was inspired by Odium (who wanted to discredit future sight and keep Alethkar divided), has some truth to it. It could indeed be that Hierocracy started to unite people in preparation for possible desolation and Rayse sent Sunmaker to crash the party. I doubt that there are several vision-receivers out there at the same time, though. If you want your entire planet united, you don't send several unifiers, or you end up with the situation we're having at the moment, namely Tanavast Taravangian undermining Dalinar and thus leading to even more chaos.

Good grief, I'm out for twelve hours and suddenly the situation goes from Rithmatics going head-to-head with Surgebinding to having three times as much points? I think I'll have to start hurting them in hopes the final duel will be less predictable than the last time. Hurt Rithmatics, heal Surgebinding. 2. Feruchemy- 5 7. Surgebinding- 21 15. Rithmatics- 59

@Yata - thank you, that does explain it. I have to agree with @goody153 and @Djarskublar - having something "bigger than Adonalsium" out there actively involved in the events would suck out a lot of fun from the Cosmere; divine shenaningans with the Shards are far more fun.

@sheep, those art deco posters are freakin' amazing! Not much I've got to add here, I'm just going to gush here a bit. I love art deco, so these are awesome. Also, may I have the big version of the Urithiru one? I'm not sure where I'd hang it right now, but I'm certainly going to use it for any future room redecoration. Regarding Hoid, he might have grabbed some sort of ability that would let him change the centre of his mass; or have the coin start perceiving the hand and the rest of the body as two separate entities. Considering we have shapeshifter races in the Cosmere, there are probably some shapeshifter-esque magics as well.... and now imagine what Hoid could do if Kandra-like shapeshifting ability fell into his lap. Oh, and regarding what you've noted about Urithiru's endless floors, here's a fun, if not very important fact: going by online data I've found, Urithiru would be about 421 metres tall. Has it been built on Earth, it would be 18th tallest freestanding man-made structure and 10th tallest building in the world.

Out of sheer curiosity, why would it be so? I'm honestly asking, because I've seen that statement before and I seriously don't understand. How would the fact that dead people in fictional universe merge with some grander deity/exist in a land of fluffy clouds/go to one of seventy eight hells trample on anyone's beliefs? It's fiction, after all.

I'd be more inclined to say that Ash becomes a Dustbringer and Eshonai will be a Willshaper. Willshapers are described as loving adventures and novelties; Eshonai has spent her youth travelling and mapmaking, and was the first to contact humans, which would also fit with Willshapers' supposed "affinity to spren", i.e. capability to negotiate with beings of other culture and species. On the other hand, Ash with her penchant for destruction fits with what little we know about Dustbringers. @Yata - I'm guessing that with Ash having broken the Oathpact, it's quite likely she's got a gaping hole in her spiritweb where her bond with Honor (or whatever made her a Herald) used to be that would fit any spren who'd wish to associate itself with her.

You've hurt both systems, rather than just one; which one were you trying to heal? Because after this post, the total sum of points is 83 rather than 85 it should be. We've got two points missing that have to be assigned somewhere.

Bands of Mourning spoilers? Lately there's been a short discussion on one of the forums regarding the way Southern Scadrians' medallions work, and I was quite surprised to see that there's no Coppermind page to check this with. Considering the SoScad tech is probably going to be important in the future, it'd be nice to have a page for it. Is it okay to make one, or are we waiting for The Lost Metal and more information on the medallions before doing that?
