  1. Like Daemons in Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials"? Only, you know, with a different theological viewpoint...
  2. As Bavadin invests themselves in the Sun on Taldain, it would fit that they are the best candidate for investing themselves as another "object", such as Patji, rather than a "being", as well.
  3. No, mostly because I don't think Oathbreaker has a slow start, even for Brandon who I don't think has ever written a book with a start that is slower than average
  4. The Master Sword, based on what it knocks back in the games and the sheer length of time for which it has existed, appears to be indestructible. But I don't think it could destroy Nightblood. So a draw for me in terms of both swords surviving. But Link is probably super dead when he gets touched by NB whereas whomever he is facing could survive a blow from the Master Sword
  5. Sheer strength to block a blow from Marsh? Marsh was super-powered remember, with Feruchemical speed, and Elend with Atium couldn't actually manage to defeat him!
  6. A lot of the novels have happened in quick succession (Warbreaker, SA, W and W, and in Cosmeric terms, shortly after MB1 as well) which inherently means that the focus is around this rwally key period in Cosmeric chronology - MB1 seems to have been to set up where Harmony is now, which may be relevant to SA, but for Warbreaker it is all about setting up the characters (I include NB in that) for Stormlight
  7. Simple question - do we know how old Vivi is in Warbreaker?
  8. Maybe. It will annoy me a little if voices in the head is how he is doing it though. Too Ruin, been there, done that.
  9. Lots of epicanthic folds needed, as that's key for Alethi! So, for me, Temeura Morrison as Dalinar (that's Jango Fett, btw). Taika Waititi as Amaram, Kelly Hu as Navani. Polynesian actors quite big at the moment anyway. Probably looking at Scandinavian or mixed-race (with Asian heritage) actors for Shallan, hair probably dyed red.
  10. I think the Ghostbloods are not a good group, but they will want the same end as our heroes - to stop Odium. They are Worldhoppers mostly, as far as we have seen, and will probably want to profit from what is happening on Roshar but to do that they need the board to be intact, and so far they have always acted against Odium if not actually in favour of anyone else
  11. He knows T wanted to kill him to stop him leading the World, which is probably a good enough reason for Szeth! He also watches his actions at Thaylen, when he makes his decision. And he has seen the reaction of the men guarding Dalinar when he tries to assassinate him the second time, including Kal
  12. We do have WOBs that Alumnium blocks Shardblades there though... and Aluminium is famously light AND pale. And found in most of earth's meteorites (but not as a metal). And forms, thematically, the colour and structure of almost every gem stone. Again, it's the most logically likely candidate, explicitly rare on Roshar so why would people have checked to see in modern times whether it blocks Shardblades? People who could afford a whole suit of the stuff are probably the people who already have Plate
  13. Sometimes reading something by someone a completely different view of the world to you is rewarding and enlightening- I despise many of Ayn Rand's ideas and code of ethics, but, poor editing aside, her novels gave an interesting perspective that I mostly disagree with
  14. Goodkind for me. i don't think LMM is at all racist against White People (he also does cast them...)- just the parts in his shows are way more powerful when played by people of colour, and address an imbalance in Broadway. Also, you are missing out, because he's also (in my opinion) utterly fantastic at show and song writing Pullman is quite aggressive in some areas when interviewed in terms of his atheism, but the books are good IMO and ask lots of the same questions as Sanderson's do (despite a completely different set of beliefs)
  15. Welcome stranger. I've been drifting in and out so I'm not a long term regular but new Sanderson books are life consuming enough that I feel the need to come here after each one!
  16. Aluminium does block Shardblades, does it not? That's why the Alumnium safety clips they put on to train with them work, no?
  17. Maybe I should have said more multidimensional. The characters in the other works aren't overly simple but are sometimes not very subtle and OB has a lot more subtlety for me than most of his works, in characters. They've all had very subtle and complex themes though
