  1. I really like this theory. Especially, as someone mentioned, that it could fit with the KR also go to Braize theory. I don't have much to add really, except that if this theory is true, I'm not sure how this revelation (the Honor part alone) could 'destroy the new orders when they return.' I feel like Kaladin/Dalinar would hear Honor used to be feeding KR to the meat grinder and go 'Well that sucks, but we all need to stay alive and have a civilization to save, so KR assemble.' If the going to Braize part is added to the OP, then that could help shatter some of the new KR.
  2. I like this theory, assuming it's possible for Mistborn to have the same Savant effects as a Misting. If I remember correctly, isn't she occasionally described as (the equivalent of) shrugging off wounds and hits that would have broken someone twice her size? This could be the equivalent of pain immunity, just not explicitly stated. Again, I don't remember the exact wording, so that may not work, but I think it was vague enough to qualify. (Unless by pain immunity you mean immunity from ALL pain. If that's the case then maybe Mistborn just don't get as extreme Savantism as Mistings? (Similar to I believe your recent WoB about the bonus effects of combining magics not as present for Mistborns/Fullborns.))
  3. Doesn't at some point Kaladin say, "I thought I killed you." And Syl replies, "You almost did." I may be misremembering the wording, but I think it says or implies that Syl nearly died, but not quite.
  4. 1. Sadeas vs Adolin (lol) - Adolin, because he finally gets to duel Sadeas like he planned wins in .03 seconds flat. 2. Axies vs Rysn - Rysn, because I envision her being one heck of a Radiant whenever she comes into her powers. 3. Dalinar vs Amaram - Dalinar, for being one of the few honorable ones left. 4. Kaladin vs Rock - This is so not a fair matchup and should be the finals. I could write an essay for each. Rock, because Kaladin will probably have plenty other victories coming his way. 5. Eshonai vs Teft - Teft, Bridge 4 everyday and all day. 6. Szeth vs Sigzil - Sigzil, because he can probably tell us some things about Hoid that would boggle our minds. 7. Nalan vs Lift - Lift, for being one of the greatest characters in the books and for sharing a love of food with me. 8. Renarin vs Zahel - Zahel, because somehow Nightblood is gonna be thrown into this tournament and Zahel needs to be around to tackle that.
  5. OR...Wayne becomes a kandra Worldhopper. Isn't there a MeLaan quote where she says Wayne is basically wasted as a human? That quote plus budding romance=Wayne becomes a Worldhopper kandra. Crazier things have happened...I think. EDIT: Plus you know, Wayne mimics people, kandra mimic people...
  6. Wow do I really like this theory. Even just for the character implications. One of our main radiants dies in some heroic way...only to have an epilogue POV from Braize. (Leading to perhaps Kaladin having to Bridge 4 himself/others all over again in Braize to overcome Odium/something to get out and back to Roshar...) With that said however, the way the Recreance is depicted in Honor's visions, I always got the feeling that part of the reason had to due with the non-Radiant humans. Not entirely, but the way that scene is depicted seemed very much like a 'throw this in your face you're all on your own now' sort of thing. Very unradiant like, but then in theory so was the Recreance.
  7. I love all things in any way related to Cosmere Avengers, so I'm all aboard. If I remember correctly, didn't Brandon say he needed to write the Elantris sequel(s) before Mistborn Era 3 (modern tech) came out? To me that implies some sort of shardic crossover/interference between the two worlds. There's a lot of ways to do that. Maybe Harmony helps do something to the Dor to reform the ruined shards there into one? Another thought as I write this is that Brandon's comment simply means Sel and its inhabitants will be playing a role in Era 3. And since Era 2 Mistborn seems to be full steam ahead with interference from other shards/worlds, why not something as simple as this? Anyway, the point of all this is to say that before Harmony hops to Roshar he may need to handle/do something with Sel and its ruined shards first. Could be what causes Harmony to have to head to Roshar. Personally I don't see Harmony picking up any more shards, only because we had that happen as the climax of one series already, and I can't see Brandon reusing it. I think Harmony will have a major role to play in Cosmere-Avengers, I'm just not sure what it is. (Maybe even dying? His death being the one that really sells the new big bad as a major, cosmere wide threat.)
  8. Certainly sounds plausible. I'm not sure if anything definitive has even been said in regards to the Oathpact. It definitely seems to be something that at least bound Odium, and probably Honor, in some way. The name Oathpact seems to imply some sort of agreement however, and I'm curious as to why Odium would have agreed to something that would lead to him being restricted. (Unless the Oathpact was between the Heralds and Honor, and it basically tricked/forced Odium to be trapped.)
  9. Ooooo, interesting, thanks! Wayne would be my second choice probably, and is probably a better guess than Steris. Would certainly hit readers the hardest (in most cases.) Though another of my way out there theories to get these characters to other Era's is that Wayne somehow becomes a Kandra and starts Worldhopping with MeLaan. Didn't she say something along the lines of Wayne being wasted as a human?
  10. I was thinking medallions, not sure what Nicrobursts are actually. Or if Duralumin would do anything significant to Cadmium. As for reasoning, I figure if there's some major calamity or threat to Scardrial and Harmony tells them about something working it's way towards the planet, or something that just needs to time to figure out/fight, Marasi would be down for it. Especially if Harmony flat out asked for the help. Don't get me wrong, it's the longest of long shots, but who knows, we have a lot of older characters still kicking around.
  11. I've been thinking about this too lately, and I'm very curious to see how Brandon plays it. Two of the bigger questions I think are the villain, and if that villain is (entirely) native to Scardrial. And After re-reading SoS recently, and seeing all the references to 'the lost metal' and assuming that is still the title of the 4 era 2 book, I have to assume Atium plays a major role. It could be a bait and switch, Brandon having us think it's Atium only to be some other metal, but I feel like the twists and surprises will be elsewhere. (This probably will play into the question of what Harmony is doing with that extra Ruin.) Further, does era 2 book 4 set up era 3? From what I remember, era 3 will not be too far into the future, so we could see an event(s) that is the cause of the major problems in the next set of books. (Or see Marasi find a way to Duralumin Cadmium to propel all our era 2 hero's to era 3. ) And because Brandon, almost certainly at least one of our main good guys is gonna die. Who? And just to continue this rambling mess of thoughts, that last line brings up another point. We've never actually seen on screen someone get spiked. I think we see it in the last of era 2. (Also could be a reason Atium plays a big role.)
  12. Thanks for the answers everyone. The main reason I brought it up was because of a scene from BoM, which I may be misremembering, but *BoM spoilers* Innate dying pre-SoS seems to conflict with the former.
  13. Pretty big spoilers and I'm not sure what needs to be kept hidden and not, so for those who haven't finished the book, look away. During my recent re-read, (done after finishig BoM,) something struck me as odd. Harmony says he cannot see Paalm, which we assume is because of her new spike. However, Paalm has to kill Innate before masquerading as him. Wouldn't Harmony, you know, have noticed that Innate was dead? I'm not sure if I can quote BoM in spoiler tags on this board, so I'll hold off on doing so, but shouldn't Harmony have seen Innate's passing soul/Cognitive form and known immediately something was up when he heard Innate was still in Elendel?
  14. Wow I never noticed that before. Just to throw out some ideas based on the images of the Heralds (which I know, is going on next to nothing, but for a little fun,) Jezrien/Shalash -Father/daughter, I believe confirmed? Chanarach/Kalak - Well Kalak looks pretty young in his image, and Chanarach looks older than him, so if why not Mother/Son? Talenel/Vedel - Look similar, though that's probably just the hoods. Brother and sister? (Why Talenel's sister would leave him alone in Braize is another story.) Nale/Battar - No idea, husband and wife? Ishar/Paliah - Even less of an idea. They both have that ancient look to them, husband and wife again? Just fun speculation. In regards to the male shard side/female shard side, as many have said, there has to be something to that.
  15. My personal favorite Cosmere idea that I know (99.9999% certainly) can never happen: The eventual Cosmere-Avengers contains characters dead and gone by the time it happens. Specifically Vin, Elend, Dockson and heck, just about everyone else from Mistborn. I mean c'mon, Vin, Wayne, Lightsong, Kelsier, Vasher and Dockson (and whoever else) all teaming up? It practically writes itself. Along the same lines, at the end of Era 2 Mistborn, Marasi finds a way to create a massive time bubble, allowing her and the other good Era 2 characters to jump forward in time to future relevant events.
  16. Agreed. She came off as super creepy and definitely evil in WoR, and what part of the world needs exploring and worldbuilding more than any other at the moment? Things relating to Odium. Now that we're in book 3, I think it's the time Brandon will begin working more of Odium and forces into the main narrative.
  17. Random thought: Let's assume the Nightwatcher is another of three 'Bondsmith spren.' If the Stormfather is of Honor, the Nightwathcer is of Cultivation, wouldn't it stand to reason that the third Bondsmith Spren is of Odium? Yes spren are splinters of Honor, so having one of Odium would be odd (especially with him having the Unmade and probable Voidspren) but maybe there was some mixing going to create Cusicesh? Or maybe since the other two Bondsmith spren are (may be using the incorrect terminology) cognitive shadows of Shards, Cusicesh is as well and just because it's the shadow of Odium does not make it immediately Unmade/voidspren/evil? This is not thought out much at all, but is there a specific reason it can't be as simple as, 3 Shards, 3 Bondsmith Spren, one of each shard?
  18. Sounds fun! I'm going to go based on a couple assumptions. No one's a Mistborn or full Feruchemist. So according to other in world rules, you're at best a twinborn, everything else gets spiked. Let me start with Thor...(Disclaimer: I know nothing of the comics, so this is MCU Thor.) Most obvious trait is that he is super strong, so let's go with F-Pewter and A-Pewter. He lives for thousands of years, so he would need two spikes, one for F-Atium and one for A-Atium. (For Atium compounding like TLR did.) He has a thing for his hammer and can fly, so that's two more spikes for A-Steel and A-Iron. Finally, I feel like being Asgardian he would have increased senses, so let's spike him with A-Tin. To conclude: F-Pewter and A-Pewter Spikes: A-Atium, F-Atium, A-Steel, A-Iron, A-Tin. Decent amount of spikes but he can hide them under his armor.
  19. When I mean 'Cosmere' books, I mean Avengers style team ups from different series. My understanding is the Brandon once said each series will be stand alone, not needing anything else to be read to understand, but with behind the scenes Cosmere happenings and tidbits. What I would like to see, is that when the inevitable series team up happens, is that some of the established 'rules' get broken (or rather, shown that our understanding of them is wrong) to allow for some rather off the wall things. I've seen a good amount of people here disagree with that sentiment, but for me it's all in good fun. Let the individual series contain the proper sendoff's, deaths etc for the characters. Let Cosmere-Avengers be Uber Lift, Vin, Wayne and Lightsong (and I guess Vasher, for the grumpiness) up against some comically strong arch-villain.
  20. I LOVE this idea. This is also why I hope Brandon doesn't take the future 'interconnected' Cosmere novels TOO seriously. After all, we're going to have a plethora of fantastic and mind bending stories spanning so many different worlds and themes and storylines, all self-sufficient despite the hints of the greater Cosmere. So, when it comes time for Cosmere-Avengers, why NOT have some crazy amounts of fun such as this Lift theory? So what if it maybe lessens slightly the overall impact of the original story the characters are from. (Disclaimer: I REALLY want a few, or more than a few, specific Mistborn characters back-to heck with 'that can't happen because they moved beyond'-when it comes time for the Cosmere Avengers.) Remember, the Stormlight Archive, Mistborn etc all can exist by themselves. The Cosmere books, should there be any, are really just bonuses. So here's to hoping Brandon has fun with them, and we can have this Uber Lift team up with Vin, Elend, Kell, Dockson, Vasher and the rest.
  21. Big spoilers obviously. In the epilogue, in Sazed's note to Spook, he mentions there are two unknown metals to find. However, based on my understanding of Scardrial at this time and the Ars Arcanum, aren't Atium and Malatium considered two of the sixteen? Since that is ultimately incorrect, wouldn't there be four new metals for Spook to find? Or is Sazed/Harmony still too new to his powers at this point to know about this? Also, was it ever confirmed anywhere which spikes Marsh doesn't have? Vin mentions he has over 20. (Likewise, was it ever mentioned which spike in his torso was forced out during his fight with Vin? She removes an eye spike, but I believe during the battle she also knocks out another with a push.)
  22. Is this confirmed/which passage?
  23. Tezim/Sesemalex Dar got a decent name drop in both tWoK and WoR, so it HAS to have some significance on the future. It really could be anything, but I'd think the three most likely are: an Unmade, a Herald, a Worldhopper (possibly gone bad.) Another option is that Tezim is not so important, but the location. Maybe there's something there of critical importance to the story that we/the main character don't yet know about. Dawnshards/Dawncities have to be somewhere, maybe these name drops are the beginning of that storyline. (Which I kind of expect to be a second half of the Stormlight Archive plot point, but it wouldn't be Brandon if there weren't name drops and hints to it through the first half.)
  24. Dockson, such a critical but mostly offscreen role. Then he dies, and is more or less forgotten. Such a sad death scene too.
  25. I came into this topic intending to mention the possibility that the Skybreakers working with Nalan are not the actual Skybreakers (a point someone brought up on another site.) But you already mentioned it. I like that aspect. We've seen numerous heralds go mad, it would be a nice addition to Nalan's madness that not only is he killing Surgebinders, but trying to recreate his lost order without Spren. Which is why I love your idea that the real Skybreakers are actually the Shin, it would make Nalan that much more devious if he's sending Szeth to kill off the actual Skybreakers, as a way for Nalan to hide from the truth/past and realize his false reality. So while I agree the Skybreakers probably are the order that didn't break their oaths, let me throw out a crazy idea. The Dustbringers are the order that did not betray their oath. I have basically nothing to support this, however: 1. We know very little about the Dustbringers. 2. I think it's fair to infer from Kalak's pov in the prologue that the Dustbringers were very effective at fighting the Voidbringers. 'The Dustbringers had done their work well.' From this (and their abilities) I will extrapolate that the Dustbringers, (let's pretend as the chief 'big gun' to be used against Voidbringers,) had a certain love for fighting Voidbringers/battle and would not want to give this up. (Perhaps because they were in the midst of the battles so often/lost so many of their members and did not want it all to be in vain.) 3. Tying very nicely into your other theory, 'Odium is invested in the very stone,' the Dustbringers being the Shin further explains the Hallowed Stones. Dustbringers can turn stone into dust, and being the chief Voidbringer battlers, would have a great appreciation for avoiding the stones that turned against them in battle so often. The started the idea of not walking on stones as a way to keep people away from potential disaster. None of that is based on much of anything, but just a fun idea that popped into my head.
