Is there anyone in Shadows for Silence that is described as having golden hair? I can see a possibility where the Iriali as a whole were at some point on Therondy, but as they were fleeing the Evil, they somehow became split. The main part of the group worldhopped, the rest ended up in hell.

Top 10 theories going into Oathbringer
What's a Seawolf? replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
Vasher will accidentally use his Divine Breath to Awaken a cupcake. Lift will eat said cupcake. Lift transforms into Returned Awakener Edgedancer Lift. Stormlight 4 and 5 are actually about a terrified Odium trying desperately to flee Roshar, ending up in the Scadrial system post Stormlight 5, not to invade, but to get the hell away.- 353 replies

Who should get a novella?
What's a Seawolf? replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Lift again, but this time she brings Rock along. On a food finding adventure. Hmmm, need someone to balance it out. Yep, Lift, Rock and Jasnah on a food finding adventure. -

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
What's a Seawolf? replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If someone on Nalthis Awakened a cupcake, and then Lift immediately ate said cupcake, what would happen to: 1. The breath(s)? 2. Lift? -
I really like this theory, especially because it runs counter to the general idea that the heralds started becoming the opposite of their oaths because they abandoned the oathpact. It would be neat if it was in fact Odium who caused this change in order to break them. I like it a lot. Don't have much to add except spitballing on who some of the unknown heralds are masquerading as: (I have no idea what the physical age/appearance of the heralds are supposed to be, so that may immediately kill some of this baseless speculation) Vedel. Loving. Healing -Opposite of healing would be hurting/killing. Natural thought is the opposite of loving in hating, but that's Odium's domain. An interesting synonym for loving outside the normal inclination is devoted/loyal. An opposite of devoted/loyal/healing that springs to mind would be an assassin for hire. I know I've seen some theories that Liss (Jasnah WoR prologue) is a radiant, can't remember the conclusion but it fits in this baseless theorymongering. Plus, her nickname is the Weeper. That's very opposite of Loving/Healing if you ask me. Paliah. Learned. Giving -Probably wayyyyy off base with this one (for some reason I think Paliah may be one of the elderly looking heralds?) but the opposite of learned/giving sounds a lot like what Elhokar's wife is doing back home. (Admittedly it's been a while since I've read that passage.) We just have one interlude from a separate POV and Jasnah's unease to go off, but hey, just throwing out ideas.

Tien's rocks are something more?
What's a Seawolf? replied to StormblessDave's topic in Stormlight Archive
Combine Tien's affiliation for rocks and the Shin's reverence of stone (and the variety of theories surrounding such reverence) and I could see Tien's various rocks being hints at something much larger. -
Could Wayne Eventually Become a Worldhopper
What's a Seawolf? replied to ILuvHats's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Someone in another thread mentioned a Lift and Wit teaming up after Lift attempts to stab Wit with a Shardfork. I said I'd read a 10 book series solely about their exploits. Give me Worldhopper Wayne and MeLaan gallivanting about the Cosmere 'trading' for important peoples things and stealing accents? I'd read a 36 book series. Assuming they crossed paths with Wit and Lift at some point. (Slightly more serious, [because that was very, very serious] Wayne actually does make sense as a Worldhopper. He and MeLaan even have a relationship developing, and I think there was even a 'wish you were a kandra' type line. I can see Wayne 'dying' only to find his way back somehow to cruise the Cosmere, maybe even as a kandra.) -

Speculation on the importance of the color Red
What's a Seawolf? replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe red just means corrupted? Although I like the idea that all the red/corruption in the Cosmere is unknowingly growing/powering some greater big bad, something akin to your idea of investiture that has developed independent intelligence. -
If an Elantrian had Nightblood
What's a Seawolf? replied to Paladin Brewer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Does Nightblood need to be held to start eating/draining Investiture? For example, if someone was able to drop an unsheathed Nightblood into the Cognitive Realm on Sel (somehow figuring out a way to access the CR there without dying) would Nightblood end the Dor? -
Aesudan Kholin, Theories and Speculations
What's a Seawolf? replied to Gavin-son-son-Odegard's topic in Stormlight Archive
When I first read the Interlude (?) that showed the decrepit state of Alehtkar, or at least the small piece that we saw, my mind immediately flashed back to *Mistborn Spoilers* and some of the happenings there. Not saying the same thing is happening with Odium, but I don't think it's a stretch to say some outside influence is taking place. I could see it being one of the Unmade we don't know anything about yet. I would love for her to actually be a part of either Mr. T's group or the Ghostbloods though. Would make for some great interactions and provide a nice segue for more main characters to meet those groups.- 108 replies

I am so irrationally excited that Sixth of the Dusk is getting a sequel. Has the idea that Nan Balat's tendencies being magically enhanced come up before? I'm not sure what exactly this means. Some external force (Odium?) making him act as he did/does?
-
Couldn't you say it's well within his character to do so? This is someone who plotted the downfall and death of an immortal god emperor, died but refused to actually die, then helped with the plotting and death of the actually immortal god. Everything he does, from the grandiose plans to the simple message of 'survive' can be described as ambitious. It terms of the actual reasoning for going out and doing it, I would say he's Kelsier. He's recently discovered there's a whole new world(s) out there full of superpowered people and even more superpowered people. Whatever plan he concocts, whoever he's going to get in his mind to save, he's going to need power to accomplish his goals. Heck, I could see him witnessing Odium, Autonomy or some other Cosmere Shardic big bad and going all lord ruler rebellion on them. But he would know he would need shardic level powers to give him and his supporters the best chance. He certainly has the ambition to pull it off And I'm not arguing against the fact there would be many hurdles to such a feet, but as I mentioned above, there's still so much we don't know.
-
As Kelsier is my favorite character, I would LOVE if something like this happened. If he doesn't pick up some kind of Survival Shard (whatever it turns out to be) or a shard called Hope (I am hope,) Ambition would fit him rather nicely. As others have mentioned there are a decent amount of obstacles to him doing so, but if we took ourselves back to 200X, whenever it was that Mistborn came out, we would have said the same thing about his coming back from the dead There's so much about the Cosmere we don't know yet. But it certainly seems Kelsier is shaping up to be a major player (not that he hasn't been already, but I mean on an even larger Cosmere wide scale.) Picking up a shard certainly fits. (Though I would fear for him losing his personality and charm in the long run with a shard.)

Q: What with the deaths of Denth, Shashara and Arsteel - I can't see them giving their Divine Breath away. Isn't this the reason why they return? A:Yes. Yes. RAFO. (excellent question) Can someone explain what exactly is meant by the above question? Maybe it's the lack of sleep, but what do those 3 dying have to do with giving up their Divine Breath? Maybe I'm misremembering Warbreaker, but the 5 scholars are all Returned, and Returned are chosen (?) by Endowment right after someone dies and given a Divine Breath. What is being asked?

Narrowing Down the Last Shards [AU]
What's a Seawolf? replied to Khyrindor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I REALLY like the idea of an Awareness shard. If the shard that wants to survive is not actually some form of survival, I think Awareness would be a good fit. Would also cover various forms of enlightenment, wisdom etc. And yes all of those things don't necessarily fall into the purview of Awareness, but I think they could fall into the umbrella of the shard if written a certain way. Now, how 'Awareness' would affect the overall Cosmere story I'm uncertain. Though if Silverlight does have a shard, something like Awareness would make sense.- 164 replies

Love this idea, especially the themed matches. I'm just going to list my winners and why, some are biased of course. Syl - can transform into things and Straff seems more of a 'have other people do my art sort of thing.' Jasnah - Freevote, and I never liked Hrathen. Miles - Poor, poor Shallan. With what I know of lightweaving, I can't see how she'd beat someone who can heal from anything. Adolin - Sure, Telsin treated Wax so well, she'd make a great friend... Clubs - Grumpy, sure, but more certain/solid and not as...flighty (?) as Elhokar. Plus could copper cloud/command an army in a pinch. LightSong - This is one of the tougher battles in the first round. Both he and Sisi would probably make great friends, but I can't vote against LS for the laughs alone. Handerwym - Sorry Raoden (I'm assuming that's Rao,) I get some people would consider Aons artistic, but have you read Handerwym's annotations? No contest. Dockson - Free vote, and Dox is one of my favorite Cosmere characters. The-man-known-as-Taln - This was actually tougher than first glance, because although Yomen would have almost no Cosmere awareness, the man known as Taln may be 1.) insane 2.) remember nothing and 3.) may not even be a herald. But despite all that, he gets the bare nod over someone we know (I think) has no Cosmere knowledge. Wax - WOW what a tough free vote. Wax or TenSoon is basically a coin flip and I already regret not choosing TenSoon. Breeze - Dilaf would kill you and Breeze would ultimately make a great friend once you got past some of the...uniqueness. Navani - Both probably have limited to no Cosmere awareness, but I'll take a Fabrial Engineer over Sadeas anyday. Wit - I LOVE THIS MATCHUP. Wit vs Szeth would be a comedy goldmine. But assuming Wit using all of his various Hoid abilities, Szeth has no chance even if Wit really can't harm anyone. Kaladin - I ALSO LOVE THIS MATCHUP. Kaladin vs Tindwyl gets into some serious magic system vs magic system discussions, and this battle would almost entirely depend on the specifics. (Metalminds full, stormlight amount, where it's held, who knows what about the others abilities etc.) Overall without abilities Kaladin is by far the better fighter, and I'll take him by a smidge with abilities, but again, that entirely depends on the specifics of the fight. 6th of the Dusk - Don't get me wrong, I love the whole stick thing. And 6th of the Dusk doesn't seem to have much in terms of artistry. But stick is a stick. No contest. (6th of the Dusk is also my favorite Cosmere short story, so I'm a bit biased.) Baon - Free vote. This is the first matchup I really don't like, just because I don't really like one of the characters and the other I know nothing about. But Baon is apparently in the 17th Shard, so he wins. Updated with second half to avoid double post. Dalinar - I so badly want to pick Ham, but I have to assume investiture is in play, and even without a shardblade I think I'd take a stormlight and surge infused Dalinar. Wayne - Not even a question. Bleeder - This is a little tough. Susebron has tons of power, but as far as I know that power does not lend itself to awareness like Ascending does. Bleeder may be a bit crazy, but she knows more about the Cosmere than Suse. (If I'm misremembering Warbreaker and WoB's and that many breaths does cause some kind of Ascending knowledge, this vote changes.) Nazh - There are not enough words to describe how badly I want Lift to win this and advance. She is one of my favorite characters. She would do so well in so many other categories. So so much more. But even I can't conjure a way that she is more Cosmere aware than Nazh. (I mean I could say the reason Lift is the way she is with not wanting to get older is because the Nightwatcher showed her the future where Lift plays a huge role in this galaxy wide battle and Lift saw all the pieces moving about but has repressed the memory and hence part of her desire to stay young. But I don't think that's a valid argument. Not missing by much, but still missing.) Kelsier - I know I know, Denth is one of the 5 scholars and we can presume has some cosmere awareness. But we don't really know. And besides, Kelsier a.) Ascended, however briefly b.) definitely knows about gods and shards and the existence of other planets c.) hacked the magic to come back to life d.) is or was at one point on friendly and speaking terms with one of the most powerful beings in the Cosmere (and heck, was his de facto boss at one point) and e.) is Kelsier. The man who still beat the Lord Ruler even though the Lord Ruler killed him. Kelsier wins. Khriss - This is tough, owing a lot to my very very limited knowledge of Khriss. They are both scholars, and I wouldn't exactly consider that art, but what I know of Elend's fighting seems a lot more blunt. Khriss's overwhelming cosmere awareness HAS to lend itself to more artistry somehow than what Elend has. MeLaan - MeLaan, as a spouse, is one of the slam dunk no thought required matchups of this tournament, for oh so so many reasons. Vasher - Vivienna may have been taught Cosmere awareness by Vasher, but we don't know for certain, and even if she was taught, that knowledge was passed on by...Vasher. Maybe Vivienna went on a Khriss like tour of the Cosmere, but until that becomes canon (unlikely) Vasher wins. Mr. T - Look, I so badly want to pick Ironeyes. I'd pick him in literally any other scenario battle. But artistry? Talk about being screwed by the selection committee Marasi - Not much for artistry I'd imagine, but that little bit will be more than Eshonai. Kenton - Eh. Steris - Steris seems actually really sweet, and would be a great friend. Zane would be that crazy great friend until he kills you. So he loses. Sazed - Lol poor Shai. Would love to see her advance, but so so few people are beating Sazed on Cosmere Awareness. Vin - I feel bad seeing Silence lose, a great character from a great short story. And she would make a great friend. But besides Vin being my second favorite cosmere character, Vin takes the cake here for a ton of reasons. Edward L - Oh damnation I love that Mr. Suit vs. Tonk Fah is a friendship battle. I'm tempted to go Tonk Fah for the pets, but those pets end up dying. With Mr. Suit you have potential for...advancement, money and connections I guess? Both are not exactly 'friend' material, but someone's gotta win. Galladon - A reverse of some of the above battles. The Lord Ruler would probably win at least three categories verse all but the very top echelon of super strong characters (and Kelsier.) But for artistry? Did you see the Final Empire? Not buying it.

theory identity of Trell and Senna wonderings(secret history spoilers)
What's a Seawolf? replied to Kolfire's topic in Mistborn
I always thought the extra Ruin went to making Atium for Marsh. Something's gotta be keeping him alive. -
My initial reaction upon reading was that the pancakes were just another in world representation of the heralds and the 'missing' pancake represented the one herald who died, or is currently 'missing' from the world. (Pre-recent events.) However, to throw something completely random out there not backed by anything... The 9 pancakes are for the 9 Unmade (not sure if that number is confirmed or not, but I've seen it tossed about a lot.) 'Tashi' represents Odium, who does not have a pancake because he is not an Unmade, but rather their creator/ruler. And besides, who would give Odium a pancake? (Lift doesn't count.)

Gonna copy something of mine from another topic. The Nightwatcher/Cultivation engineered the entire situation which caused Lift to visit her in the first place. (Mother dying etc.) Cultivation/Nightwatcher foresaw the need for someone with Lift's new found abilities, and knew Lift would be the right person to give them too. (I mean come on, how much of a curse is her actual curse? Granted there is still A LOT we don't know.) This will result in a future back 5 book Lift arc where she starts hating and even planning to attack Cultivation/Nightwatcher in addition to whoever the big bad is.
