  1. It is wierd that Helaran didn't come for Shallan later though. No one ever showed up to murder her after the scene with her mother.
  2. Maybe. Could work.
  3. Not even plot armor would save the Windrunner here.
  4. I have missed a lot of short-stories (all the non-Cosmere ones, and two Cosmere ones). I haven't read Rithmatist, White Sand or Aether of Night either, although I really need to do Aether soon.
  5. Good find on the necklace.
  6. Oh, not really epic, but completely brilliant: ASoIaF spoilers:
  7. I can definetly see it personality wise, but appearance wouldn't really fit that well. On another note, is there anyone besides me who thinks that Orlando Bloom could be Wax?
  8. I think it bothers Sansa too.
  9. Fielding those large armies are going to be very useful during the Desolations. Population isn't really going to have a good time either way, so using the majority as soldiers makes sense.
  10. Wouldn't that be the resonance (I think that is the correct term). When someone has several powers, a resonance, which is some kind of extra power might develop. It looks like Shallans resonance is her memory, and Windrunners have extra powerful squires. So I doubt that the extra power makes Truthwatchers and Bondsmiths unique, since every order can have them. When it comes to Renarin, sure, they might have hid their future-sight, but the connection between seeing the future and Odium still has to come from somewhere. I think that something is up with Renarin. My suspicions comes from this thread if you are interested:
  11. McDonalds or Burger King?
  12. Hoid isn't the only one who we haven't seen on the party. Mraize, Iyatil and Thaidakar haven't been seen either. Maybe Gavilar knew that the Heralds all hid in his palace. He knew for years, but was unable to find them. The frustration made him mad, which is why he wants to kick of Desolations.
  13. Okay then: -Do you like being a mysterious newcomer? -Have you tasted pizza with fish sticks? -Who is your favorite Cosmere character?
  14. I am not sure that Renarins future sight has to do with his status as a Truthwatcher. If Truthwatchers were known for future sight, then I doubt it would be seen as something of Odium. That said, it is possible that the Truthwatchers had a leading role. I am a bit confused about the Windrunners though, since they are supposed to be Leading. That is one of their traits.
  15. Lock him up without food or water.
  16. ASoIaF also uses a lot of conscripted farmers as soldiers, just as you did in real life. They have sellswords too, which adds to the numbers. When it comes to Mistborn, the Final Empire was pretty big, with huge population numbers, as well as cannon fodder skaa and koloss like @Eternum said (btw, I love Eternums username and avatar). The Highprinces had armies of varying sizes. I believe Dalinar, Sadeas and Aladar had the biggest ones. They also had soldiers back home in their princedoms. What I worry most about when it comes to armies is Warcraft. Considering that they have a new world war/apocalypse every other week they should all be dead by now.
  17. I'll make a list too: ten of my favorite characters in fiction (I'll limit myself to one per series). The first one is my favorite, the rest is in random order: 1. Kelsier (Mistborn/Cosmere) 2. Legolas (Lord of the Rings) 3. Stannis Baratheon (ASoIaF) 4. Adolin Kholin (Stormlight/Cosmere) 5. Arthas Menethil (Warcraft) 6. Kylo Ren (Star Wars) 7. Rocket Raccoon (MCU) 8. Fred Weasley (Harry Potter) 9. Sand dan Glokta (First Law) 10. Lan Mandragoran (Wheel of Time)
  18. Do you like pizza with fish sticks?
  19. Extremely silly thread, but do anyone have a favorite orc from something? Game, book, movies, etc? Orcs are fun. We all love orcs. Brandon should have orcs. I will start: I like the Hobbit-movies version of Bolg, mostly because I made so many jokes about him to my friends. Eventually, he grew on me. Warcraft also has a bunch of cool orcs. Grom Hellscream, for example, is pretty cool. So, who is your favorite orc? Orcs.
  20. By the way guys, do you think our beaver might be known as Deaths pet, since it will spiked and look scary, just like Death aka Ironeyes, aka Marsh?
  21. @maxal I think @FollowYourMuse has a point in Dalinar not being lenient with Elhokar all the time. We have the scene at the end of WoK when he kicks him around a bit and explains how wants stuff to get done. Otherwise, I disagree with you on the fact that Elhokars development doesn't matter much. I think he is an interesting character, so in my opinion, it does. Of course, it might not be terribly important to the main narrative, but I still think that there is interesting stuff to explore. However, we have basically discussed this before, so I apologize if I retread old stuff which is already covered. Also, congrats to 5,000 posts! EDIT: @hypatia I haven't seen that WoB, upvote for that.
  22. Most likely because he is a dead man walking, and he knows it.
  23. Nightblood is my favorite by a long shot. That said, there are others: -Darksaber from Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels looks amazingly cool. Ezras lightsaber is also nice, in that it has a blaster attatched to it. -Beric Dondarrions sword (ASoIaF/GoT) can be lit on fire (I am unsure how much this has to do with the sword being unique, but it looks storming awesome). -Shardblades in general. Firestorm (Gavilars Blade) and Sunraiser (Elhokar) because of the names. -Frostmourne, Arthas sword in Warcraft. It looks great, corrupts its bearer and consumes souls. It gives the word "badass sword" a new meaning.
  24. I think that while Elhokar has a purpose as the guy who helps Dalinar and Kaladin grow as characters, he can still be his own man, and have an interesting development. There are a lot of interesting minor or side characters in both Brandons books and other stories, especially grand epics of this kind. And I consider Elhokar to be interesting, and worthy of development. I also think that Brandon can take him to interesting directions, wether it is making him more of an antagonist like maxal likes to propose, or developinh him in a more positive direction, or just doing something completely different. Also, Elhokar fills the position of king, something that one character needs to do. Until/unless the story requires someone else to sit on the throne, he will always have that purpose.
  25. To change subject somewhat, can we limit our search by skin color? Ash, Taln, Jezrien and Nale are all described as having dark skin.
