  1. No. You don't have to include all of the history in the stamp, only the bits you want to overwrite. Extensive knowledge of the history of the object makes it way easier to know what can be changed, how, and how much. When Shai Forged the wall, she only programmed the details of the painting and that the artists actually did paint it. She didn't have to write in all the history of the wall; the knowledge bit kicks in that she had to actually know that the artist was there, was sick but no sick enough to not be able to paint.
  2. Strong Allomancers who became bronze savants could learn to pierce copperclouds of lesser Allomancers. It's in the WoB in the first post.
  3. He has been wrong before, though. Like how he said that he believes that "death is always involved in the transfer of powers via Hemalurgy" and that is definitely not true. I'll write another post tomorrow about that whole thread since it has gone ways from the original topic.
  4. Mosquitos. I could sit by my desk all night and hear none. As soon as I crawl into bed I start hearing one flying around. Making rounds, rounds, rounds, sometimes closer, sometimes further, sometimes getting closer and closer and closer like it was to fly into me ear and then it goes away and keeps flying rounds, rounds... It drives me insane. I cannot ignore it. I cannot find it. I cannot kill it. I. Cannot. Sleep. They should all be dead that time of the year.
  5. I knew it'd be too easy.
  6. Blood in his mind Wood in his hand Cloth on his eyes Voice in his ears
  7. I had a dream... it was like a lecture or an organization meeting and it was all Reckoners-like - perhaps as if it was some meeting for Reckoners GMs coordinating their plots or something. But then cosmere was also part of this. And an important question formed in my mind and after few minutes I finally asked it: Can Epics be taken by Shaod? And then after brief silence everybody started talking since it would be game changing, mechanics-wise. inb4 "Reckoners isn't cosmere". I know.
  8. The way to think about it is that the mass doesn't change, but the object behaves as if it were more massive. Like in the near-light speeds things behave more massive without increase in mass.
  9. I think I need to reinstate some things: Density does not change. Tapping iron would not make you more dense but it will make you heavier/more massive. It's weird and it's handwaved to bosons and we need to repeat "density doesn't change while mass does" every day and maybe we will finally stop breaking our heads over that massive () weirdness. And floating up is not about density per se (although it's easier to use it) but by weighing less than the volume of air that would take your place. So if you weigh less, you'll float up... even if your density doesn't change and it's the point that brains start to ache. The thread I linked earlier contains some discussion over those things, I think it would be helpful to go and read it, it's only two pages long.
  10. ♫ Look down, look down You'll always be a slave Look down, look down You're standing in your grave ♫ Can't get it out of my head
  11. Look up coiling. (or coil knot?). Alternatively you could use a cascade slip knot (but in my opinion it could be damaging to the cord if done too tight).
  12. My sister has a habit of sending me links on FB and trying to drag me into conversation... Without realizing that I may be doing something else at the moment. It's equivalent to shoving somebody's face into a newspaper and forcing that somebody to talk about it - who cares said person is reading, listening to music or even staring into a wall. My friends I could reply that I don't feel like reading that; but family will just call me rude and get offended
  13. Do you want something really random? Behold! One of the most popular threads on subreddit populated entirely by bots: https://www.reddit.com/r/subredditsimulator/comments/3as5dl/_/ It's short and glorious. My favorite:
  14. We have it confirmed that every (viable) metal has allomantic, feruchemical and hemalurgical properties. There cannot be a metal that has only one property.
  15. Density does not change, momentum is conserved (it's repeatedly stated in the books, for example the final chase after Bleeder or Khriss asking Wax about changing his weight mid-air), you can make yourself float: You're welcome.
  16. That's the WoB in the first post. While your WoB confirms that stronger Allomancers can burn metals faster... that WoB is a little like dodging the question. If we want to be really strict on this, it only confirms that larger amount of Innate Investiture (so inborn, spikes, Feruchemical nicrosil) corresponds to higher burning rate. But savants don't mess with their Allomantic strength. In the WoB I quoted stronger Mistborns are "quantitative difference" while savants are "qualitative difference". And Brandon even says that "Wax can do more with less". It either means savants do get extra Investiture apart from the usual Investiture/mass ratio of the metal or that normally there is a loss of power along the way from Preservation to the effect of the Allomancy and savants have improved efficiency here. If I ever have a chance to meet Brandon I'll surely ask him that.
  17. That's right! Brandon told us:
  18. Let's tackle that topic. Unfortunately we lack WoBs about it (or my theoryland search-fu is weaker than I thought) but we can still discuss about it. Feel free to throw WoBs at me. SOURCES There are four main sources of the differences in Allomantic strength: Inherent difference: some Allomancers are born stronger and some are born weaker (and some rebuild themselves during their Ascension...) . I believe the difference is in the amount of the Innate Investiture. Hemalurgy: after charging a spike with the ability of someone else, it adds up to the strength of the Allomancer. That ability remains tied to the spike and spikes hold Investiture, so they steal and add up the Innate Investiture. Nicrosil Feruchemy: it's possible to store Innate Investiture in nicrosil and upon drawing from that storage the Allomantic strength is increased. This obviously changes the amount of Innate Investiture. Savantism: it widens the cracks in the Spiritweb, allowing more power to flow in. Here I am not so sure it changes the amount of the Innate Investiture. WoB: I believe that the amount of the Innate Investiture is directly proportional to the strength of the Connection to Preservation. MECHANISM Now, we are not really sure how does Allomantic Strength work. The main theory is that it allows the Allomancer to burn metal quicker - the normal burning rate is higher than the average and the flaring burning rate is higher than average flaring burning rate. It also assumes that the Investiture density of the metal is fixed - no matter who burns it, the same amount of the metal will produce the same amount of the Investiture. The other theory is that stronger Allomancers get more Investiture from the fixed amount of metal. So here the Investiture density is tied to Allomancer and is directly proportional to the Allomantic strength of the burner. I could see how the amount of the Innate Investiture you have changes the normal burn rate and flaring burn rate but it seems that's not what is happening with savantism. Savantism cracks the soul more "allowing more Investiture to flow in". So it would mean that the burn rate remains the same but more Investiture flows in. I don't like that conclusion but it seems logical. Soo... thoughts, WoBs, counter-evidence?
  19. I've drawn a much more terrifying conclusion from The Big Short: even people who are supposed to know things are just as stupid as anyone else and nobody ever makes any effort to check anything. If they were simply evil, we could rebel and get good people in that place instead... But they're stupid and there's no one you could replace them with.
  20. It's quarter past six am where I am. I should definitely get some sleep... ... well, my username didn't come from nowhere
  21. I thought it was supposed to be a riddle after the previous one was guessed correctly? The answer is obviously: Shia Labeouf He is following you about thirty feet back And then gets down on all fours and breaks into a sprint. He's gaining on you
  22. I think we all thought that As for the riddle, I also think it's the future/tomorrow. If it isn't, perhaps... surprise?
  23. I'd see this either as a drawn animation like Avatar/Legend of Korra or realistic computer animation like, for example, Witcher trailers.
  24. Steven Universe: I'd just watch an episode or two. It's a show for kids, even when bad things are happening at the end or in few episodes things well work out and everything's gonna be al- WHAT THE - FEEELS. That was... that was heavy. And unexpected. Aren't shows for kid supposed to be happy? I thought you can't just drop those kinds of things on kids. (It was Mindful Education)
