  1. My point is that nicrosil stores Innate Investiture, period. Whether it can only store those parts related to abilities you have or it can store other parts is material for another discussion altogether. Because what does it even mean "it stories abilities"? What is an ability, actually? That's why it's much better to refer to it as Innate Investiture; we have only had Nicrosil Feruchemy introduced, it can go a long way.
  2. To clarify: souls are a mixture of Investiture and Connections (more or less). Hemalurgy steals fragments of soul - Innate Investiture in other words. Nicrosil stores Innate Investiture - there's a reason why Nicrosil is a Spiritual Feruchemical metal and why Nicrosil Ferrings are called Soulbearers. So thinking that Nicrosil stores "abilities to use Investiture" is correct but misleading; it stores Investiture in your soul and abilities are ingrained in you that way. I suspect it's also possible to store human attributes (y'know, the same which are in kandra Blessings).
  3. I wrote down my usual build and I'll go back to it... as soon as my home will have internet connection. Until then I'm gonna watch sunrises
  4. Can't see it, the box says I don't have permission.
  5. Just chiming in for a sec: in the middle of changing internet provider, dunno how long it's gonna be until I'm on the web again. It's six days since I don't have internet at home. Well, at least I got to the Bastion... and I'm finishing it right now
  6. hm... Frobisher could be a better nickname (reference to Cloud Atlas)
  7. Nope. The feruchemical atributes are stored as Investiture (metalminds are Invested) but they do not all store Investiture.
  8. Just for reference: while I am not familiar with wikihow, I know urbandictionary. It's... untrustworthy is not strong enough, not even that magnitude. Anybody can add definition whatever they think and we end up with a mess. Never trust urbandictionary. Not only they're contradicting each other, then there are also people who just don't like something and will smear the term down (made up example: you'll find "feminist" defined as <a lot of curse words implying them being stupid and the like>). So... that's about it.
  9. Nicrosil does store Investiture... Innate Investiture. Which makes up your soul and that's how your abilities are coded in you.
  10. Feruchemist can store all of one attribute. They'd probably die doing so. The practical limit is 75% (if you store all of your speed... I'm not sure what happens on cellular level but certainly your heart will stop). The whole thing with Allomancy being of preservation can be seen in two ways: 1. The Snapping is a self-preservance mechanism... (it happens due to extreme strain on the soul - it's usually pain or strong emotions - but it can also be extreme joy. Rare, but possible) 2. The flow of the power into you preserves the piece of Preservation in your soul. It makes sense as you need to constantly expend energy to counteract entropy maintaining equilibrium.
  11. Nope. It's not about having sentient life on it but having sentient life perceive it. If they think about it, it drops into Shadesmar. If you had a planet full of humans but somehow made them not think of the planet they're on it would not appear in Cognitive Realm.
  12. How come people still don't get you, @Zathoth? You are not exactly hiding your lovecraftian views... Anyway, to sound less morbid, instead of banning reproduction try to kick-off a Worldwide Sex Abolishment Movement.
  13. I just lent Cloud Atlas from library. I think I may put off reading Stewart's Night Watch for later
  14. Not true. There were Allomancers before lerasium, although incredibly rare (and I'm not talking about those who were mist-Snapped). Similarly Southeners have seeds of Three Metallical Arts in them so there could sometimes be a Misting among them. There was a quote that "some people who were deeply touched by Preservation were not necessarily good people". I though it was in epigraphs but it's not. Somebody remembers it? Maybe it was a WoB? Anyway, as for your mathematical model: to preserve equilibrium you actually need to expend energy because of entropy. Allomancy is constant influx of Investiture which preserves the piece of Preservation in Allomancer's soul. That's why it's net-positive.
  15. In ten minutes I will have no internet. It will continue to be that way until Monday, at least. See ya. whole weekend without internet... *shudders*
  16. She did not said that. She said: I think the second one is Roshar - while humanity probably wasn't created by Honor & Cultivation, they may have come there with the Shards.
  17. IIRC somebody asked that and it was non-answered but the person asking was told that he's thinking with portals (so along the right lines). IIRC it was @Argent.
  18. I didn't freeze to death! Yay! But with blizzard and windspeed being about 17mph and cold and this mixture of water, snow and mud on the streets it was not a pleasant trip.
  19. Is this... is this spoiler from Edgedancer? I thought Edgedancer is confined to its subforum!
  20. Oh, I didn't know that WoB about dropping Honorblades and Shardblades; good that I started this topic, I learned something new
  21. Is editing and posting here on Shard about what I changed good way to do it?
  22. Temperature: barely above water's freezing point (~37 F?). But the perceived temperature/wind chill is probably 26 F. Wind: strong. Rain: heavy. It's evil out there and I am already sick but I have to go EDIT: Rain stopped, well, raining. Now it's starting to snow. EDIT2: Now it's a blizzard. If I'm not back in 5 hours it means I froze to death
  23. When your shower thoughts are about how would Nicrosil Feruchemy interact with other magic systems
  24. Don't recall any definite WoB on that, could you link? What is this coming from? So far we have seen Honorblades in the Prelude where they were intentionally made to stay and in Szeth's PoV and IIRC it disappeared as regular Shardblade does. Taln's is debated here, so it's not evidence.
  25. Isn't Sand Master anybody capable of Sand Mastery, sand profession people who actually chose it as their 'class', so to speak, and Diem organization of those people? It's like with Hemalurgy: Anybody can do it, but we only call Hemalurgists those who actually use it and Steel Inquisition is specific organization of Hemalurgists?
