  1. When are the new episodes coming out? I mean, what day of the week?
  2. Uhh... for being online on pretty weird hours (for me, which means normal for USA Sharders)?
  3. Uh... I don't know, really. Partly because I don't really have favorite mythological heroes. Partly because once you exlude gods, there are not that many heroines. If pressed, I'd go with Scáthach. Name of the Wind with Witcher saga being close second. I go straight for cocaine Honestly, it's all the same to me. Coke and Pepsi, I mean. I don't know. I read a lot more when I was younger but I don't remember my processing speed back then. I don't read as much now. I say we create an additional, artificial moon to make nights brighter. First I'd have some experts bring me up to speed on the issue. That's a hard one. I think I'm gonna either go with the Shardic magic of Cosmere (which encompasses everything) or choose one of mine, namely Soulsmithing. Yes. No.
  4. I just want to point out something interesting - the worms are all the same, but the abilities granted by Aviars vary. When Dusk took a new bird and made it Aviar, it granted previously unknown ability. Was it mentioned in the text or do we have a WoB that the ability is tied to the species of the bird?
  5. Does anyone else think that Jon bending the knee was totally out of character?
  6. Both of these problems could be probably resolved by a Mistborn bonding a spren. To avoid moral concerns, let's try to burn a piece of Shardplate (it regrows anyway). Now if only somebody could ask that Brandon...
  7. It's a battle we have to keep fighting in. A one whose end I cannot see; lest the WoB comes.
  8. Bindpoints count for both theft and placing. But that's about the extent of what we know about it. Yeah, well, my pile of evidence supports what I'm saying. But I have only read about 200 Hemalurgy WoBs, what do I know...
  9. Yeah, and? You can store different senses in tin. With steel you can still steal different physical Allomantic powers. The power granted depends on what the spike was charged with...? I'm not sure I follow what you said. Yeah, that's weird. Especially when you realize Feruchemy is not categorized like Allomancy is and instead it has 8 Physical powers, 4 Mental and 4 Spiritual. I'm sorry, what? Kandra Blessings are made from iron (strength), tin (senses), zinc (emotional stability) and copper (mental fortitude). None of these steal Allomantic powers.
  10. Well, there are several metals to steal Allomantic powers. But to steal a specific one only one specific metal works. Aviars have different powers, so it's not surprising you'd need different metals for different Aviars. Also, as far as First of the Sun is concerned, it's worth noting that while parasites are all the same, it's the species of the bird that determines it's power.
  11. But they cannot. Unless you're thinking of godmetals... well, they are something else entirely.
  12. Now that I'm slowly approaching 4000 posts and 2 years on the Shard, I figured I could finally make my own AMA (it seems to be all the rage right now). So, here I am. And you. You are also here. And since you're here, I figure you want to ask me something
  13. Just wanting to point out that hatred (and odium by extension) and wrath are different, separate concepts. Anyway, that's a theory I can agree with. After all, how Shard turns out depends on Vessel's interpretation of its Intent; perhaps that's how Tanavast saw honor.
  14. If I were writing down my thoughts and feelings after each episode, it would probably get too long to publish here. Let's try for short then: I love it.
  15. For complecity's sake, here's the other WoB about spiking spren: What else? I want to point out it's finally a confirmation that spikes indeed need to be metal and we can finally bury that non-metal spikes nonsense. I wonder why we need to spike both the bird and the human though. I mean, it's not a pernament bond like Nahel bond or anything; Aviars can be swapped and given to other people. You could theoretically steal the power of the Aviar and spike into another bird and use that as an Aviar, I think. What do you think?
  16. "I will defend those who cannot defend themselves" "I am the shield that guards the realms of man" Beric and Jon confirmed potential Windrunners.
  17. The way it was explained to me, the snake in ancient cultures was regarded as we see the owl - the symbol of knowledge and all that stuff. The whole satan thing may not be accurate at all or the association came much later.
  18. But Extesian, they eat mosquitos! Well, avoiding idioms is surely a way to degenerate a language... not to mention that without idioms and sarcasm and all that subtle stuff we would be talking like robots (or Birdperson).
  19. In Cosmere there may be no difference - a highly evolved biological trait could be using Investiture. In the Postscriptum of Sixth of the Dusk Brandon talks about Investiture symbiosis (of another kind; presumably because most of our examples of magical symbiosis are Roshar). If you're looking for more examples of magical symbiosis, look no further than the Roshar system. Roshar itself has countless examples of animal symbiosis with spren (like greatshells or skyeels); Ashyn has bacteria that grant the sick magical powers. Or Taldain, where lichen uses Investiture in its life cycle.
  20. #freericksanchez
  21. You may have not noticed that (after all if you're so Invested you probably have some sort of regeneration) but the spike is all and well. After all, there's no such thing as "stopping Hemalurgy". Highly Invested donor makes for a valuable spike though. For that I have to thank you
  22. Fool! You should have trusted that someone! Now you're just a new spike to my collection AHAHAHAHAHA!
  23. We are conditioned to offer help with lifting and carrying heavy stuff *shrugs*
