  1. Right, I was thinking about the spikes the Bleeder used herself. Totally forgot about chimaeras. I was actually thinking that she spiked animals. Because Human Attributes do twist the recipient, but they still maintain somewhat human form. And chimaeras? They were totally animalistic. EDIT: I mean she spiked animals and then spiked humans with those spikes. So the humans were twisted into something animal-like. We need to somehow differentiate whether "spiking something" refers to stealing from it or giving to it.
  2. Yeah, it's not about Taldain not rotating, it's about Taldain rotating in the exactly the same amount of time it takes for it to rotate around the Sun.
  3. But when shooting from cadmium bubble, the external part would be traveling 8 times faster than the internal part. Are there any physicists on the board? The part abou objects being either in or out is coming from the Brandon himself, though.
  4. It would tear the bullet apart, probably. Also, an object is either in our out of the bubble. One moment the bullet is in, the next infinitesmal moment later it's out.
  5. I prefer the term Survivor's Spear Now the question is: what happened to the true Bands Of Mourning? What we know: Vin was able to Push them on Pull them out of body (but she was burning mists at the time, so... irrelevant) they consistsed of surprisingly small amount of atium Elend sold them So they can still be out there, but the issue is... would TLR make them unkeyed some strange thing for nicrosil to be tappable by anyone (since it's something weird going on with medallions and Survivor's Spear)? If not, there can be a whole lot of power locked in the Bands with nobody able to take it. Unless somebody figures out how to hack Feruchemy.
  6. I am not sure 12 year old still counted as a child in Middle Ages. I don't know how it was on Roshar, but if Earth's history is any indicator... I'd say teenagers surely did fight in Desolations, but I have no idea how young. Sunmaker was 17 when he started his conquest. How old was Kaladin and Tien when joining the army? Tien 13, Kaladin 15. Amaram says that in cities boys of age 8 or 9 are taken to the army (Lirin points out that they're trained for officers). I'd also provide some Earth examples, but I'm not much of historian. From what I've found it seems that people were regarded adults at the age of twelve in Middle Ages.
  7. As for the brownie analogy: Analogies are anything but valid form of argument. You know that "If all your friends jumped off the bridge, would you also do it?". The correct answer is "yes". Because, as this xkcd puts it: my first thought after seeing all my friends jumping off a bridge isn't "my friends are foolish and I won't be like them" but "Oh God, are they OK? What's happening, is the bridge on fire?". Faith isn't about avoiding different beliefs and viewpoints: it's sticking to yours while encountering those different to yours.
  8. But the amount of godmetal would have to be absurdly high for them to use it industrially. And how would they get in it the first place, as both Preservation's and Ruin's Shardpool was in the North?
  9. Okay, this may be true. But what wiil happen once rails become longer than the Coinshot range? For example, 100 meters and more. If blue lines point to the center of the mass, then the center could be outside the Pushing range - it would render the metal unPushable, but I find it hard to believe.
  10. The way I see it, those "systems" are pairings: 10 pairings for 10 Surgebinder types 10 pairing for 10 Voidbringer types 10 ??? for third system Adding that up: 30. There are Ten Surges and each system (Surgebinding, Voidbinding and Third System) access them in their own ways. I did some theorising on this things in this topic. About numbers, specifically this post: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/53076-the-third-magic-system/?p=404838.
  11. You see, the friend I talked about in the first post? He can read it. He'd read SA in English. I will point him to Warbreaker. But the Polish fandom as a whole? (Or rather that part which is in FB group and reads the fansite?) Damnation, no. There are some people able to read in English, but it's a margin. Majority have problems with understanding things written in English (this may be the cause of the low amount of Polish Sharders - there are what, four of us?). Or maybe they're unfamiliar with the terminology of cosmere - some people commented on my article about the Shards that it took them a while to process all of that.
  12. ... when I think I already got used to things like people going "Harry Potter is evil!" I come across Twi's parents banning Disney films. Seriously, what's wrong with these people? Why can't you both be a Christian and enjoy, I don't know, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman? Why can't you be a Christian and do Witcher LARPs? What's funny, I've seen more regular people going on crusades like this than priests speaking against such works (apart from some extremal cases).
  13. Despite being Assassin's Creed fan, I quite dislike how the franchise has seized the "cool hoods", "cool robes" and "knife-under-arm" tropes. As if they invented it all. Now, when somebody makes use of these tropes, people are just going "Assassin's Creed knockoffs!". It is infuriating. Because people living in the desert totally wouldn't wear robes with hoods in the colour which is good at reflecting light... like white, for example, without knowing Assassin's Creed
  14. You see, I also dislike coffee. The proper term for what I'm doing with coffee is "using". I have no idea how people can drink coffee for pleasure. But sometimes you have to pull through a night... or two... three at best, three's the limit, after third hard night you die the moment you get back home and lie down to sleep. Then, after 16 hours or something about that you respawn. So what I'm looking for is not the taste, since it's bad anyway (but I dislike it less than I used to). Strength is important for me.
  15. Unmade are confirmed to be Splinters of Odium.
  16. So why are we pointing newcomers to Cosmere 101 and coppermind instead of saying this four sentences? Ah, if only I could do that. Unfortunately common reaction to pointing people to coppermind or annotations is "My English is not that good". Since people practically asked me to explain things... Well, I try to balance between giving info and spoilering things. My gameplan is to translate coppermind while cutting out everything from books not released in Poland. Well, I try not to spoiler anything. And the method you use probably would work... The thing is, the order we're getting books is WoK -> WoR -> Mistborn Trilogy reprint -> AoL reprint-> SoS -> we're here now -> future: BoM -> TES -> Elantris reprint -> Oathbringer -> Warbreaker reprint Most people (I'd say 95% of Polish readers) haven't read Elantris nor Warbreaker. I myself almost had to sign a bloodpact to find a library which had them. Yes, we will get Oathbringer before Warbreaker. Do I have to say anything about reveals being ruined? Certain swords and characters showing up in different books? I wrote my first article, about Adonalsium, Shards, Intents, Slivers and Splinter after HoA reprint and before AoL reprint. I figured it wouldn't spoiler anything at this point and after SoS it became quite important because people knew about Shards so they figured out that this new god "Trell" can be a Shard. I am mostly translating coppermind anyway. I don't go and say "oh look, remember that passage when this messeneger from Helaran drank poison? That's Hoid and he's an Allomancer!" or "remember that Blade Dalinar got? It's not a Honorblade and...". Instead of saying "Shallash is the one breaking art" I say "All the Heralds are to be found in the book". When somebody was profoundly confused about the Blades and asked whether it's a mistake and why doesn't it scream, I advised to take a closer look at descriptions in WoK and WoR. Then after some discussion and people going in completely wrong direction I dropped the quotations from the books about the Blades, proving that they're not the same and admitting that it's not a Honorblade since it doesn't scream. Right now, since we're after SoS, I can probably say something about Kelsier surviving death and whispering to Spook and holding Preservation before Vin. Marasi mentioned it; I will do whatever I can to avoid spoilering. Right now I am writing an article about Investiture (that term translated so badly that it makes me grit my teeth whenever I think about it) and focuses and Realms. Some explaining about Hemalurgy (c'mon, we're after SoS). Some explaining about Snapping and Surgebinders being broken; what does it mean for magic to be net-positive or net-negative, things like that.
  17. Source? BTW, you may want to check out my "Three Metallic Arts" link in my sig, I did some theorising about the things talked about here.
  18. Lurcher Bloodmaker, so he can be truly effective at the job. After all, Lurchers would have to wear full body armors to be protected 100%.
  19. So you see, I was talking with my friend who read most of the books (SA & Mistborn), but had practically zero cosmere knowledge. You know: for example he thought Reckoners are cosmere. Right now he finished Shadows Of Self. I tried to explain to him cosmere a little, but I found the amount of information to convey pretty high. And then I realized that almost nobody in my country knows about Kelsier not really being dead. So I will probably have to write article about some cosmere stuff before BoM is released and throw the Kelsier stuff in as if it's not a huge plot point. And probably some hints about Southern Scadrial. Being on the 17thShard, it's pretty easy to forget that many readers do not obsessively hunt cosmere hints as we do There is what, one throwaway line in SoS when Harmony mentions "the ones who were nearly destroyed"? Can't remember more hints about Southeners. So casual readers are gonna pick up BoM and end up thinking that Brandon is pulling chulldung out of thin air. "What? Southern Scadrial? What?! KELSIER'S ALIVE?!" Because Kelsier not being dead... You have to know what you're looking for in HoA and Marasi briefly mentions Kelsier surpassing death and Ascending and that's about it. So how about we make some Cosmere Guide for Beginners? Cosmere 101 thread is useful, but outdated. Your thoughts? P.S. here's an example: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/53499-disappointed-with-bands-of-mourning-help/
  20. Surely there must be something more effective than drinking superstrong, supersweet coffee. Can coffee beans be chewed maybe? *Yawn*
  21. Would tapping Connection strengthen metal lines? How would atium work on somebody storing Connection or Identity or both?
  22. I wonder how Steel Inquisitors can see anything. IIRC they can see lines pointing to normally unobservable metals, that's how they can see living beings for example. But that means that they basically see an ocean of blue lines pointing everywhere, how can they see anything? Another question, since they see metal lines pointing to trace metals in living beings, this should mean they can Push and Pull on metals inside the body. But we never see them do it...
  23. Polish ones. They come with extra polish Mistborn/Well Of Ascension/Hero Of Ages/Alloy Of Law Shadows Of Self Bands Of Mourning
