  1. I don't really see the problem either... True, I think too it was said that humans were created by the shards... so this had to happen after the shattering of Adonalsium. But who says this planets didn't exist before? Maybe even with another living form on it? That's the same as you'd say gasoline shouldn't exist on our planet, as humans aren't around for Milions of years yet
  2. damnation, didn't even remember that... Just reread this part again (thanks to the search-function at ebooks). You're right, he sold them to somebody, isn't mentioned who, for supplies. Interesting that they've mentioned it wasn't as much Atium in as expected, maybe an alloy of Atium? or a combination of different metals how it wasn't seen yet, so it gave him more powers (so when someone else wears them, he doesnt get just one power per brace)?
  3. Thanks EagleOfTheForstPath, i thought i saw that somewhere before... So, when they were spikes, it should make sense. They dont have to be nicrosil, as they always were spikes, you'd get the Allomantic or Ferochemic power by piercing yourself with them na dhave access to the age stored in them. The question is just, witch powers exactly will be transfered by them? And, how strong the power actually will be. They say the longer a spike outside of a body / blood, the weaker they get, and this spikes have been out for 300 years... probably were they covered in blood? Btw, I wonder who found and hid them... After Vin pushed them of the tower, everyone could have found them. Maybe they fell on the head of some douchebag, and he wondered what the hell this is (i know, not really possible as it was in Kredik shaw, and not every "douchebag" has access there)
  4. I think gaining TLR's powers (not all of them tough) should/will happen if you get his braces as hemalurgic spikes. They wouldn't have to be Nicrosil to gain his powers, as they always were hemalurgic spikes. So, as hemalurgy ripes your "soul" (i know, your spiritweb) apart and adds something else to it, a part of TLR soul/spiritweb might be contained in there. So, when you pierce yourself with them, you'll gain the power through, and should have access to the storage. I think this was discussed before, that when you kill a Ferochemist and take a power of him by Hemalurgy, you'll have access to his metalminds. I'm just not sure about one point: Were the Lord Rulers braces actually hemalurgic spikes? Or did he just have them pierced through his skin so not every Mistborn can pull on them as they're to important (didn't actually work out then)
  5. I think the talking about "weaker" books is not really necessary at this point... DJ_Ice said he read already the whole Mistborn trilogy + the 2 Wax and Wayne books. So he aleady read "better" books from Sanderson, and you see, he already is eager to read more Cosmere-books
  6. Haha, well, then you probably should go get your sleep About the awakened objects: You say, the breath doesn't belong any longer to you, as the object is "alive" ones awakened. But the Awakener is able to call his breath back, and leave the awakened object "dead". When it isn't your breatj, for example, the breath of another Awakener, he has to give it by will to you. You can't command his breath to come to you, so this means to me, the breath in an awakened Object is still yours. But I imagine it pretty funny to watch an Allomancer-Windrunner trying to swallow an infused bead of metal (I mean, to much lashing in the same direction as the planet's gravitiy, and it could damage your organs at swallowing...) which is floating around or falling in a wrong direction
  7. You really won't be disappointed. The whole Cosmere is great, even if the connections between the books are for now rather small (I hope this isn't to much of spoiler already ) So, have fun reading those other books, pay attention to the details to find out about as much as possible of the cosmere by yourself, and let us know about your progress
  8. Depends... I don't know what all you read already. There are several more Cosmere-books: I'd personally go in this direction: Elantris Warbreaker Way of Kings Words of Radiance Of course, if you read one already, just skip it... or reread it, I'm actually rereading Warbreaker on English (read it the first time on German)
  9. That the breaths have been given to you, before you use them to put in an object and burn it then, makes sense. But why not put enough in to actually awaken it? It just depends how you awaken it, you could just tell it "Let me burn you" or just something like that. Could have even weirder effects, as you burn something that's... kind off alive. I personally don't agree that you'd have to be a feruchemist to get any advantage over a longer time (when you stop burning it). Awakeners store breath in themself, not in a metalmind. So, if you look at it like that, the human body itself is kinda like the metalmind. So, if you could burn it, why wouldn't you be able to store them inside of you? I know, it seems like to easy, as you could get this way infinity breaths... but I really don't see why you shouldn't be able to store them, if that even is the effect of burning it. Probably you're right, and you just get to a higher Heightening without actually having enough breaths. About Nightblood... would be interesting then if Vasher would swallow Lerasium, and then burn it Or a Mistborn/Awakener creates Nightblood V2.0 out of Atium, and burns it whatever, so many options of which I sadly think we wont actually see it in books... or way not all possibilities... For the stormlight, when you'd burn something infused with a Surge (let's stay at Gravitation) it might be useful without being able to store it. If a "single lash" takes a specific amount of Stormlight, a double, or even triple lashing will cost you the same factor more, correct? So if you burn it, I guess you'll get a "stronger lashing" back, same as Feruchemy. You could directly charge something else with it. So, in a battle, instead of infusing something directly with a 10-Lashing and use a hell lot of stormlight, use your Whatever-Metal-Bead, that's charged with a single-lashing, burn it, and charge whatever you wanted then with a 10-Lashing. Could save a lot of stormlight. Burning silver in the Forests of Hell sounds just... wrong, i agree, you need your silver there for other purposes (specially since it isn't one of the 16 Allomantic Metals, right?) but who knows, maybe it would have great effects on that planet. Any other wild-fantasies, how you could combine magic-systems? And even if you couldn't enhance the Magic-Systems with each other... Think about: What could easily something as strong as The Lord Ruler? An Allomancer-Feruchemist-Windrunner, on 10 Heightening even without enhancing his breaths with Allomancy, he'd be super powerful
  10. Hi everyone, so at first, this should be a topic just for speculation and wild theories Probably it was already discussed, but I didn't find anything... So, we know Allomancy with Ferrochemy has pretty cool effects. As well we know (Sanderson said that in a Interwiew) burning an hemalurgic charged spike would have strange effects (no idea what tough). So, what if Allomancy get's combined with other magic-systems: -What happens if you burn a metal containing one or multiple breaths? What would happen if you actually burn Nightblood? This now is really wild (but funny, in my opinion) speculation: I believe Sanderson mentioned, in combination of Duralumin and Nicrosil you could force an Inquisitor to burn Metals outside his stomache (his spikes) and kill him. So, why not use Duralumin in such a strong way, to burn Nightblood in your hands? Or, burn Duralumin and Chromium to burn Nightblood in Non-Allomancer hands? As Chromium just whipes metalreserves, and doesn't burn them, and you use it on an other target, i believe it would work on non Allomancers too. They just wouldn't recognize any difference. Sorry, step back again from Nightblood and burning things out of your stomach: What might happen if you burn a metal containing breaths? Nothing? Multiplying breaths? Some other amazing effects? I honestly can't imagine nothing special would happen... -Allomancy with Radiant Knights: That's even harder I think, as you can't store Stormlight in metal... But for example, a Windrunner who could pull on metals, could make a multiple-lashing on a coin, so it falls in a direction, and pull himself to it, so he "falls" with the coin (multiple lashing required, so the coin doesn't get pulled to person). Maybe, as the coin is much lighter, it would save him a lot of Stormlight, instead of lashing himself... Or he could of course help a Allomancer-Friend to fly with him... And then a little in another direction again, but still combining magic-systems: As much as i know, at Nightbloods creation they used normal steel - but what if they used another metal, for example, a god-metal like Atium or Lerarium? What difference would that have made, and what, if you burn that then? I mean, a person who burns awoken Lerasium surely wouldn't become just a normal Mistborn So, any other wild-speculations like mine? Anything about my ideas, maybe they're completly stupid, who knows... but as i browsed a little on this forum, i think there aren't "too wild-speculations" in this forum
  11. @ TheYoungBard: When Vin was fighting the Lord Ruler, she just flared her Iron (thats pulling on metals right?), but still didn't see the lines. Then it says, the mists start coming closer to her, and she just kind off looks at them. And then sees the blue lines pointing to TLR braces, then pulls on them
  12. Wow, seems like chinese is translated really bad... But you're right, overall, the German translation is pretty good. Just in the Mistborn-Series are a lot of Mistakes. I mean, look what I wrote about the name of Band 2. Band 3's name is poorely translated too, but not as bad. It says "Herrscher des Lichts" which means something like Ruler of Light... I mean, yeah, almost Hero of Time. But Band 2 is just the worst to me. And I think it's funny that they made a mistake at Pewter, as they did the same in German! In German, it's called "Weissblech", which is a thin steelplate covered in Tin... Funny they've made a mistake in 2 languages, but at the same metal
  13. And to EagleOfTheForestPath, i didnt see your answer when i made my last post, so this is the answer i was looking for, thanks! The thing about Nightblood consuming new Stormlight or not is still there tough....
  14. Why would Nightblood need Stormlight from Szeth? Correct me if I'm wrong, but once created, it didn't keep taking Breath from Vasher. True, Szeth didn't create it by himself, but Nightblood is "alive" already. I dont think it will take any Stormlight of Szeth at all
  15. Well, of course that's true, totally different in getting... But what do you mean with that? Do you mean Vasher could just take Stormlight instead of Breath? I mean... who knows. But I thought those 2 things totally different
  16. Hey everyone, i have a question about Vasher on Rosher (well, Zahel, as this is his name there). I already saw the question, how he didn't die at the end of Warbreaker, when he was giving his breath away (i know, he could keep his divine breath). But i didn't find this question yet: How does he survive on Roshar? I mean, he needs his weekly breath, or he'll just die... Or can he take thousands of normal breaths with him, and each week he loses one? That was never mentioned in the book, and i can't imagine that this works, as nobody does that in Warbreaker, and i mean, this would be much easier to handle then getting each week a new one...
  17. Hey everybody, this topic is basically for people who read Sanderson books in other languages (or the one's that are just curious). So, my first language is german, so I read my first Sanderson-Books (all started with Mistborn) in german. And there were pretty many translation mistakes (I reread the trilogy by now on english): Fighting the Lord Ruler, Vin never sucked in the mists! In Hero of Ages, it said something like "she sucked in the mist, like when fighting TLR". And I just thought, whaaaaat, that never happened --> so, reread the Final Empire on english, and there it happened. They just skipped the most important detail Other bad mistake: The second book "The well of Ascension" is named in German "Krieger des Feuers". Wenn you translate that back to english, it means "Warriors of Fire".... yeah, makes totally sense. Did anyone else experience translation mistakes like that?
  18. You know you're a Sanderfan when you walk on the street and think "If I'd be a Mistborn, i could pull on that, and that, and that, and that....", or you think when doing sport, that it would be so much easier with Atium
  19. I think so he'd have the chance to get them back. But what would you do, if you thought yourself for 1000 years immortal, and then something like this happens? I guess he was to shocked, to surprised, to react. Or he didn't have a steelmind with him to go get it (which would be stupid, I'd always keep one with me, but like we all said, he's like the definition of arogant).
  20. Pushing the Metal inside of him is in my opinion just one of many options. Maybe you're right, and he'd be imune to that, but still, just with his ferrochemical speed, like many said, he could kill him before Vasher could react. But you're right tough.... If TLR would have fight with all he had, Vin would never have won. But the Lord Ruler was just to arrogant, maybe the same would happen against Vasher. But in my opinion, you can't take the full power of Vasher, but not of TLR, because "he wouldn't use it anyways". I think we have to asume, that both of them use all they've got.
  21. Definitelly for me, the Lord Ruler would win. No doubt Vasher is strong, but TLR has just to many advantages. Like many people said, his speed is incredible with steel. Then with his Pushes and Pulls he could even effect the Metals inside of vin. Pretty sure Vasher has some Metal inside of him as well (just from eating, and what the normal human being has). TLR could just push on them, or push/pull at different locations at the same time and literally rip him into pieces from the distance. I mean he did that to Vin with a normal push, if he uses Duralumin he surely could do that. And I remember Sanderson saying, with Nicrosil you could cause somebody to burn his metals outside his stomach. So, with Duralmin, TLR could literally burn Nightblood when he gets stabed by it, like Voidus said. I'm sure this would cause some cool effects And when everyone says, IF Vasher has this, and this, and this, then TLR should have everything as well, for example Bendalloy. With his compounded physical and mental speed, he could just push on thousands of coins at the same time, while he's in a speedbubble, and release the bubble before the coins are at the border --> thousands of coins piercings vasher at the same time. damnation, the Lord Ruler has just way to many options to give Vasher a real chance. The only way Vasher could win is, as people said, that the Lord Ruler would underestimate him, and not fight in his full power. But i assume, if we have an "arena-like-battle" both sides fight with all they have
  22. Just to come back to the idea, that the plan of Set is to create an Inquisitor (or something like). I don't really think this would be a problem, neither I think that when this "SWAT-Team hunting a Mistborn" happens, that the Mistborn is a hemalurgy-construct. Don't forget, Sazed is always there. And as he has the power of Ruin as well, he could just take control over a person with so many spikes. I mean, if there'd be a person who's going crazy and kill everyone, and this person has like 10 or even more spikes, don't you think Sazed would just take control over him? True, until this person becomes enough spikes, Mistings and Ferrings will die, but when it gets really dangerous, Saze will get it done
  23. About the point with getting 2 Allomantic ability, I totally agree. Before, I didn't think about it in the right way (not as passing of the whole Magic-System). About bigger chance that the kids might be Mistborn, I think of it in following way...: Allomancy was already before the Lord Ruler around, but really rare. When he gave away the 9 (correct me if it wasn't 9) beads of Lerasium, he created 9 really powerful mistborn. The descendants of them had a way better chance to become Mistborn/Mistings, as "the force was strong in them" (little star wars quote for the coming movie ) Over the years (1300, 1000 of the Lord Ruler, 300 since Ascension of Sazed) the "Force" got weaker --> less likely to become Metalborn children. If know somebody with Lerasium would become Mistborn, his kids would again more likely become Metalborn then others, as his connection to Preservation is much stronger, right? So, using Hemalurgy, your connection should get stronger too, as you can burn more Metals (I know, that confuses me about my own theory, as Hemalurgy is Ruin). So, as that connection is written in your spiritweb, this should be passed down to your childs --> bigger chance to become Metalborn just like when usign Lerasium. Right?
  24. How do you guys know he's able to use Ferruchemy? Allomancy, okay, he stole the Lerasium (even if i remember Sanderson saying, it's not for sure he used it. Sanderson said if a Mistborn would burn Lerasium, something totally different would happen... and as Hoid has the last bit of Lerasium, it has to be his. So, maybe he's just saving it for somebody else? ) But Ferruchemy? I've never read before that Hoid has that
