  1. There is more than one precious metal. Atium had it's worth only because of magic, but other precious metals have worth for other reasons.
  2. Just to state why I believe it's Yolish and not from Scadrial. Hoid has been around a long time. He was there at the shattering. Preservation and Ruin created the human population on Scadrial, this means that it happened after the shattering. Scadrial Feruchemy is genetic in the Terris people, the only ones who have it without hemalurgy. Hoid is not therefore Terris, and I don't believe he spiked several keepers and became a version of an inquisitor. Therefore I believe his feruchemy comes from Yolen.
  3. Hoid's known abilities: Yolesh Feruchemy Yolesh Lightweaving Allomancy (most likely) Second Heightening Did I miss anything?
  4. She held it in the well long before dying. She didn't use it though.......... I'm not sure on this one now.
  5. Misunderstanding, I typically read synthesis as an artificial process, and reading quickly, didn't realize you were talking about natural production rather than man made.
  6. Which granted is the pragmatic and reasonable thing to do, imo.
  7. This isn't exactly true. We can make gold in nuclear reactors. It's just not cost efficient as it costs more to do so than the gold produced is worth. Very basic overview from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesis_of_precious_metals#Gold
  8. Assuming you mean shardblade, it's not just that but Syl working with him and anticipating his needs as well. I always read it as they were becoming so symbiotic that he didn't need to consciously will it, it just was.
  9. IIRC and I may not be doing so. I think that it's not just any supernova that makes it either, but a type of exceptionally powerful supernova. It's also useful for jewelry because it's easily shaped (compared to other metals) and is highly corrosion resistant. Think about it this way. It was valued here on earth long before we used electricity.
  10. I disagree. Their mind gets expanded to be able to interpret all the atium shadows, but no character seemed to display anything like bloodlust when burning atium. Even Kelsier, Kelsier was just able to make use of atium to give his normal bloodlust an outlet.
  11. Lucky. I've been waiting a little over a month now.
  12. Do we know if stormlight does anything to ageing? Quite a few cosmere magic systems do.
  13. It's also possible that since they're essentially now creatures of magic, they have no brains and all thought is purely in the cognitive realm now.
  14. Are you sure? Can't coal get to 3,500 at a perfect burn? Pretty sure chromium melts at 3,400 and some change. It would be very hard. Take a ton of trial and error with no good way of measuring things, but it might be possible to produce a very small amount. edit* temps in degree's F.
  15. Long term it would kill you. Organs would have problems, muscles would weaken, etc.
  16. I agree. I think Nalan is either duping Szeth or is just crazy and wrong. I lean towards the crazy though.
  17. Is there a WoB on the axis? I always assumed the axis wobbled irregularly as a result of shardic power, perhaps unintentional perhaps not.
  18. I doubt it. TenSoon has multiple comments that seem to indicate that blades while painful pose no danger no matter what.
  19. But Koloss seem to lose most of their cognitive power where as Marsh was still Marsh. The Koloss wouldn't have had anything cognitive to fight back with.
  20. I'd love just copper feruchemy.
  21. Or a shard feeding them directly.
  22. It's the wine, the other parties we see are in a kingdom at war that is also fracturing. Galivar's party was a more unified country that wasn't at war. I think that's enough of a difference for alcohol to be the main contributor.
  23. The only surprise is that any cross breeding resulted in a breedable species. Many and I want to say most, cross species hybrids in real life are sterile.
  24. That's why I said possibly. Even without it, self healing, illusions, and a shardblade would be an opponent right out of a nightmare.
  25. Between soulcasting at a distance (possibly) and illusions, a Lightweaver that specialized in combat would be an absolute nightmare.
