@Fifth of Daybreak Based on the wording "I'm looking for him," I'm hopeful that she's just looking for him for information. I don't think he's the one who brought Nightblood to Roshar. I think someone stole Nightblood while on Nalthis, and brought it to Roshar. Vasher immediately went chasing after it, but Vivenna stayed back (maybe to finish something). Now she's on the trail as well, and is trying to meet back up with Zahel. If she was truly hunting him, I think she would have stuck closer to Adolin and crew since they seem to know where he is. I also think she would have worded her warning as "I'm coming for him."

I say the unedited version first and thought you were dismissing OP's claim and stating fact. I see I was wrong now. I got a romance vibe between Ash and Taln for some reason, so I had a thought that maybe Ash was chosen / volunteered to be a Herald and Taln decided to join her so they could be together. Something like, they went around to all the leaders of the time and asked them to be part of the Oathpact. Ash could have been a leader and Taln was not. Ash accepted, told Taln about it and Taln was like "Not without me you aren't!"

What does it say of me that I took the deaths in this part in stride (they were sad, but no tears were shed), and yet I bawled like a baby when in part 2 Hobber healed his legs and when Skar first helped Lyn become a Squire and later became one himself? I'd like to think it points to how I view death as something that happens to everyone, but healing and helping are things people need to actively do.

I don't think the Mother Spren was Cultivation because Syl calls her Phendorana, which is not a name I've heard before. It could turn out to be another name for Cultivation, but I don't think it will be. Not sure what she is though. My crazy theory without any real proof I will put behind a Cosmere spoiler.

I don't think they were a thing so much as Amaram wanted them to be a thing (and maybe Gavilar was pushing it too, because of Sons of Honor). I didn't get the feeling that Jasnah ever gave him the time of day. Something like kind of an arranged marriage that Jasnah didn't have a say in, but maybe not as advanced as that.

Careful. There's more than one way to fly... (I have not read past part two) On a general note: Is there a place to see the Part 2 Epigraphs combined, that won't lead into spoilers about later parts of the book? If not, I suppose I'll have to do it myself.

Quoting WoB's Directly to a 17th Shard Thread?
Govir replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Arcanum Discussion
Links within 17th shard are doing that now. Could that functionality be hijacked to work with the Arcanum? It seems like it's something that needs done on the forums side, not the Arcanum side. -
Quoting WoB's Directly to a 17th Shard Thread?
Govir replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Arcanum Discussion
I just did something like this. 1. On Arcanum, click the Share link in the WoB. This takes you to a URL that directly links to the WoB. (alternatively you can right click on the Share link and select something like Copy Link Address) 2. Make that a hyperlink in your 17th Shard post. 3. Use copy and paste as the others have suggested to get the actual content into your 17th Shard post. Additionally, I made the pasted text a quote. Here's the comment I did this on: -
My whole point is that the level system does not imply abilities. We can't say "Shardblade level + 1" because each order is different. When I talk about levels, I simply mean how many oaths the Radiant has spoken (including the first Ideal shared by all orders). Even on the Arcanum, I can't find the WoB that explicitly says the orders get the blades at different times. However, here is the WoB on Shallans level We know that Kaladin has said 3 oaths by the end of WoR (i.e. Level 3), therefore Shallan has said 4 (i.e. Level 4).

[OB] The Importance of Kaladin's Time With the Parshmen
Govir replied to Ramza1890's topic in Stormlight Archive
Do you mean his previous oath? I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right. Or do you mean that you suspect his next oath will be something like what you said. If so, I'm not convinced. I suppose if it have a conditional phrase like his last oath I could get behind it. Something like I will protect even my enemies, so long as they don't try to harm me. But from the Oathbringer chapters we have, I think that the conclusion Kaladin is coming to is that the Parshmen aren't his enemy (or at least, not all of them). I forget where exactly, but I remember seeing a theory that the next oaths could focus on leadership instead of protection, something like I will lead all those who are willing to follow. i.e. if he brings a group of Parshmen in as Squires. -
I think you can, but it doesn't imply abilities. All of the orders except for Lightweavers have specific oaths that have to be spoken (and it is so far assumed they are spoken in the same order, e.g. "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves." is always the second Windrunner ideal). Therefore, the Levels refer to how many oaths someone has spoken. This includes the First Ideal which is shared by all orders. In this regard, I think we only know the "level" of four characters (as of the end of Edgedancer). Kaladin - Level 3 Shallan - Level 4 (only because we know from a WoB that as of the end of WoR she is one "level" higher than Kaladin) Dalinar - Level 2 Lift - Level 3 Radiants of Unknown level, which I personally assume are all at least level 2. Jasnah Renarin Malata Lastly, my thought on Lightweavers is that they follow the same leveling scheme, it's just that their oaths are personal and therefore different for each person. i.e. Shallan won't continuously say Truths in order to advance more and more.

Arcanum, the Brandon Sanderson Archive, Is Here!
Govir commented on WeiryWriter's article in Site News
It looks like there's a Signup option. Are those new accounts, or are they related to these 17th Shard Forum accounts? Obviously we don't need an account to search the Arcanum, but I assume that's what will be used if we contribute. -
No image, but with Kaladin riding the storm (especially towards the end) I couldn't help but think: "I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar."

[OB] The Group that Showed up with Jasnah
Govir replied to Isaiah Zayth's topic in Stormlight Archive
As much as I dislike Mraize, he has so far shown himself to be Lawful Evil (roughly). When he says her brothers will arrive safe, I believe him. Once they arrive, I could see them being used as leverage though. So while he doesn't "have" them (i.e. they're not captive), I do think it's possible to still threaten harm to them once they arrive in Urithiru*. *As an aside, Urithiru becomes easy to remember how to spell when you remember it's symmetric (and that th counts as a single letter). -
[OB] The Group that Showed up with Jasnah
Govir replied to Isaiah Zayth's topic in Stormlight Archive
Mraize doesn't "have" Shallan's brothers. Although he implies he can reach them. He tells Shallan that he won't do anything with them, that they are a gift to her. This is from WoR, although I don't have the exact quote. It's at the end, when she meets him in Urithiru during exploration. -
[OB] The Importance of Kaladin's Time With the Parshmen
Govir replied to Ramza1890's topic in Stormlight Archive
If this happens, it will likely be Sah to give it more emotional weight. Also, I don't think we can make the jump from the word Fused to Infused to describe the red-eyed Parshmen/Parshendi. Fused implies they are joined as one, where as Infused implies they reside together but can still be separated (e.g. spheres are infused with Stormlight, which can be drained). -
I was about to agree with you, except for @Darkness's post about it being Amaram. Even though it was meant as a joke, it's a good point. If Dalinar is the Author, then he hasn't written it yet.* If he writes it later, then why is it called Oathbringer, when Amaram has Oathbringer now. *There's a small chance Dalinar has already written it, and has forgotten (because it somehow relates to Evi). This is doubtful though, so I'm leaning towards not Dalinar at this point. Which probably means Sunmaker, the previous owner of Oathbringer.

[OB] Do you think we will get a Kaladin chapter on Tuesday, Nov 7?
Govir replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ironically, now your post is the spoiler As to the topic at hand, I think there will be a Dalinar chapter because I'm still hoping Jasnah is going to bust into Urithiru as the end of Part 1. And if she does, it'll be during a Dalinar chapter. Unfortunately, it's probably not to be, as people have made a good point that Dalinar's story is at a good break point right now. (Although, I could see a scene where Dalinar is explaining his plan to the others and that's when Jasnah returns.) So here's my prediction: Next chapter is Kaladin, and we will get some sort of cliffhanger there (i.e. he and the Parshmen will reach where they are going). Then, the next (and final) part 1 chapter will be Dalinar and company in meeting as above (maybe even just talking with Navani). Shallan, Adolin, and Renarin burst in with news of the stockpile of gems. That goes on for a bit, then Lyn bursts in (because it should be Lyn, who is still a messenger / scout) and Dalinar is annoyed by the constant interruptions, except Lyn announces Jasnah's return, who is right behind Lyn. -
Alternatively, Re-Shephir may have seen Adolin do it (and that's why she copied the death). Since Shallan is doing a mind meld with the Unmade, it's possible that Shallan will start to have memories of Adolin killing Sadeas. I think Adolin will eventually be found out (by at least one person). Either he'll crack and tell Shallan/Dalinar, or Shallan will actually find clues leading to Adolin.

So I just found out that readings done during conventions are fair game here, and I've had an idea floating around since attending the Q&A at GenCon 2017. The interlude he read had a ship heading into a storm to a place that was previously unsailable because of the storm. My theory is that this is where the Everstorm (or something inside of the Everstorm) was literally trapped. This ties into the Prologue of Oathbringer when Gavilar mentions that humans took something from the Parshmen. Anyone else have any theories on this? I'm not sure if it'll be a one off Interlude, or we'll get more information about the trip in multiple interludes. Two weeks till I find out!

[OB] Theroy: Amaram and the Thing (OB Spoilers)
Govir replied to Khyrindor's topic in Stormlight Archive
I remember that Amaram came with one of the groups from the Warcamps, I just thought it was after Sadeas's death. I'll have to keep an eye out for the specific timing when I reread this part in two weeks.- 15 replies

For some reason, I feel like she's going to bond it herself. Nothing to back this up, but I feel it in my gut.
