Sanderson "Would you Rather"
Stormgate replied to KnightRadiant's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
A hundred Voidbringers. If they're singing odes to me, I'm sure they can be persuaded to bond with a creationspren in the next highstorm and rediscover artform. Would you rather know every detail about the Cosmere, or live in the Cosmere as a worldhopper?- 954 replies

So, it's no secret that Taldain is locked in an orbit that makes one side perpetually daytime, and the other always night. However, I have heard that when Sanderson was coming up with the world, he had one side lit by a strange, weak star. I was wondering how this would work, when I came upon an article from XKCD about what the rainbows on Tattooine would look like. In it, there are two different types of solar systems with two stars: Taldain is the "other kind," and, as is stated in the article, the outer star can easily be darker. What I'm saying is that Taldain is possible. Survival on Taldain would arguably be harder than on Roshar, but it's possible.

Really, devotion and dominion can exist in the same relationship, on different sides. Devotion towards something often leads to its dominion over you, or your dominion over it. It's probably no accident that those two Shards specifically went to the same planet.

Aon Omi - Elantris' love story
Stormgate replied to Tharatariel10's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I enjoy the games Sarene plays with giving them terrible colors of cloth, bent nails, and more. -
Not having Stormlight seems to have many of the symptoms of running out of pewter after keeping it going for a while.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Stormgate replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
1. They are ideally all females. 2. Since birds are rare on Roshar, they call all birds chickens. I believe Jeksonofnone is a parrot. -
Well, through WoR, Dalinar feels the Thrill, but then it suddenly leaves. It could be because of Nergaoul moving, or it could be that Radiants and those who are on the path to become them (Dalinar included in this) have less reception for the effects of the Unmade. It almost makes me want to watch a Radiant or proto-Radiant die, just so we can see if they have a Death Rattle. Almost.

Yes, a Radiant would probably be disappointed by the lack of highstorms, but Kaladin has never liked the Weeping. However, he feels very differently about highstorms.

I have an adopted little brother with Down Syndrome, and we have determined he has a large number of guardian angels. The first winter we had him in our family, none of his doctors thought he would survive. They didn't tell us this until after he survived, though. At one point, I had a pet turtle that lived in a tank with water in it so they could swim. My mother walks into my room, and sees my brother splashing in the water, the lit lamp we used to keep the turtle warm in the water beside him. He survived without being electrocuted. At a different time, we were building a shed, and the trusses that were to be used in the shed were in a stack on the side of the house. He somehow managed to climb up there about 15 feet, and was completely unharmed. He once got onto the stovetop, grabbed some knives, and began playing with them. Completely unharmed. Then, just today, we had another instance happen. We have a garage with a loft and a dumbwaiter to get stuff up there. My mom put some fluorescent lights on the dumbwaiter vertically, so only a rope was really holding them on. One of the lights slipped, fell against a wooden beam between two trusses, and slid down and began falling to the ground vertically, like a diver. The light landed less than a foot, maybe less than 6 inches away from my brother, leaving him completely unharmed. My mom went and hugged him, saying she was glad he wasn't hurt, but he said he was okay, he was wearing shoes. He has no idea what could have happened. This is an incomplete list of the many things my brother has survived.

When your family gets 15 chickens, and your first thought is that there isn't sixteen. Then, you plan on naming a black chicken "Vin" and a red chicken "Shallan" True story. -

Although for all we know, someone somewhere on the forum accidentally guessed exactly what's going to happen. Unlikely, but possible.

You get to ge part where you have export codes, then pick the forum code, select it, copy and paste. I really hope that makes sense.

Can Edgedancer move smoothly in water
Stormgate replied to Asasasyn in White's topic in Stormlight Archive
Dustbringers have the Surge of Abrasion as well as Division. The Radiant in question was likely a Dustbringer. -
The tug from killing Shades on Threnody is similar to the tug when cutting organic matter, and is believed to be the resistance caused from cutting the Cognitive aspect of a living thing. The Shardblades probably don't sink down to the hilt because of a mental command from the Shardbearer.
-
Depending on the maximum size of the Shardblade, it could become the ultimate drilling machine.

So... when will the Voidbringers conquer Urithiru?
Stormgate replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
The stones of Urithiru are unhallowed, able to be freely walked on by the Shin. While further information is of course necessary to draw any reasonable conclusions, there is some indication that Urithiru may somehow be protected from Voidbringers in ways we haven't yet seen.
