However, Hoid remains alive and presumably well. I'd say that he'd escape execution. Also, he's invited to Sadeas' funeral.

Sanderson created a Podcast called Writing Excuses. It was so good, that after I started listening to it, my book ideas went from one to three, and it took me a while to figure out the first one. Not only that, but my existing idea was fleshed out a bit. True story! This post is not supported by Writing Excuses.

I have not given it a lot of thought, but I personally like the idea of the time travel being internal. Aiming for a time period would be sketchy no matter how you did it, though.

If there's any reason for it to be something beyond survival instincts, it's because it happened twice at least. However, I don't think we know why Vin was so talented at Allomancy, so perhaps it's related. Perhaps a low burn of bronze alerted her to Hoid's many Investitures, and freaked her out.

It seems that Roshar has two seasons, Highstorm season and the Weeping. The question shouldn't be 'What causes seasons on Roshar', but rather, 'What causes the Weeping?' Seriously, what causes the Weeping? I have a hunch that it's somehow related to the moons and Roshar's proximity to its star.

I was not paying attention. I apologize. As for the inability of a pun to be patented, OreSeur? Sorry, bad pun, I'd have my sense of humor flogged for insubordination, but my sense of decorum is taking too long. There's a line.

So, since we learn from the first two chapters of Calamity that (spoilers for safety) I'm wondering what Knighthawk's powers are. From other threads I gather that the mobiles are Epic tech, probably gained from Knighthawk himself. So he likely has some form of telepathy. I would like to suggest that he has reverse gifting: He has the Epic powers of all the Epics around him, synthesized by keeping Epic mitochondrial DNA around him constantly.

Kobold King is Actually Brandon
Stormgate replied to Elithanathile's topic in General Brandon Discussion
On the subject of the metaphor, it actually was quite good, if a bit unwieldy. We need the Admins to vouch for each other, then get them to give us a list of regular Shard users (those who have gotten on in say, the past year) and eliminate those that spend a lot of time on here. My logic for the second part is that Sanderson takes a while to respond to fan mail due to writing, why would he be spending hours on end combing through Shard forums?- 55 replies

Kaladin would love famous Earth literature. In battle, he's already most famous for how he Shakespeare.

Kaladin broke his oaths? Well, all's well, that spren's well. I actually thought of that one a while ago, and was planning on making it a meme. I never got around to it. As I explore Sanderson humor, I discover my resemblance to certain characters in his books is not Waxing, but rather Wayneing. Those were my third and fourth puns on this thread, and I hope to have TenSoon.

In one of the Stormlight books, Hoid comments on the name axehound. They don't have dogs, so how do they get the name axehound? Hoid asks this question, but it is never answered. Since it's Hoid talking, I want to think it's important to Roshar.

Radiant pairs causing Stormlight to act differently?
Stormgate replied to Landis963's topic in Stormlight Archive
When proto-Radiants snap, they are likely driven to be lethargic and mopey. Stormlight perfects, and so it perfects their efforts to remain useful instead of wallowing in self-pity. -
Can we all agree that the Flash is Steel Twinborn who has somehow managed to get rid of his Allomantic abilities? Also that Thor is a Windrunner who has foregone the sword in favor of a hammer?

Perhaps an understanding of spacetime is necessary for shooting out of a time bubble. Gravity warps time as well as the fabric of space. This warping of space could lead to inaccuracy in shooting out of a bubble. The nausea Wax describes after leaving the speed bubble is likely related to the change in relative gravity, sort of like motion sickness when riding a roller coaster.

On the subject of savants' Allomantic addiction. In HoA, Spook has such a dependence on tin because, without it, he sees himself as being almost blind, deaf, etc. but he also says that it's how other people experience the world. Savants, from what I can tell, have a greater ability to use their Allomantic metal. Vin could be seen as being a savant with steel, iron, and possibly the emotional metals. With a steel savant, I believe that we see an example of this in AoL when Wax has his steel bubble. This seems almost savant in nature, to me. We have a bit of a problem with Wax being Twinborn, so there's the phantom 'effect' flying around that we still haven't seen, so it may be the steel bubble.

I'd give Feruchemical copper to Kobold King, so he can track exactly how many upvotes he recieves and/or loses. Also Allomantic steel to warriormark16 because it would be fun to watch him bounce around like Tigger on coffee. And not the decaf.
-
It's a desperate defense, but steel isn't alloyed with another metal. I don't think this works, but...

So, I believe I have an idea that may break Feruchemistry and Allomancy. What if Wax stored a lot of weight into his iron metalminds, then had them forged into steel, which he then burns? Would he Compound weight? Or would it be turned somehow into speed, making him a de facto Steelrunner? Would the Invested metalminds retain their Invested status at all?

So, would Colossus, the X-Man who can turn himself into steel, be able to burn himself/use himself as a metalmind?

Let it be officially known that, as I type this into my iPad, I very much appreciate all the work done to make this site tablet-friendly.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Stormgate replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Daleks are made of Dalekanium. Anyway, you know you're a Sanderfan when you start listening to Writing Excuses simply because Sanderson is speaking. I actually got a lot more ideas for books when I did this! -
Challenge accepted. I wish you were a sphere, so even in the middle of the Weeping, you would be de- light-full.

Kobold King is Actually Brandon
Stormgate replied to Elithanathile's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The only way to determine who Sanderson is is to figure out which Sharders know other Sharders in real life. I, warriormark16, and Zephyr are clean. I am sure there are other Sharders that know each other. Then, we take the remaining list of Sharders, corner them, and go all witch-hunt on them.- 55 replies
