  1. Were you there to hear his answer or is this just an interpretation of the WoB?
  2. In the annotations: (source) Anyway, I think this conversation has run its course and is running into some inappropriate topics for this forum. Why don't we just let it die?
  3. well-documented and known typo
  4. And it is in the database! @Khyrindor I take it that by "The real afterlife is different across the cosmere" you mean that the afterlife is constant, but it is different from all the existing conceptions people have? @Argent The Allomancer Jak story is along the lines of the Allomancer Jak article in the the Elendel Broadsheet. It is in the Alloy of Law supplement.
  5. Are you sure about this phrasing? Because previously Brandon has said the "real" afterlife was constant across the cosmere. (Though now that I go and look at it it is ambiguous about whether the uniformity refers to the Beyond or just cognitive shadows...) Thanks for this but we already kind of knew this. Sorry. In whose mind are they distinct exactly? Nohadon's or Brandon's? HMMMM... That is actually kind of unhelpful... Not really a problem so much for my main theory, but it's problematic for a spin-off theory. Oh well, I'll have to give it some thought. Thank you for asking though! Oh and you did ask all these questions yourself? (As in you aren't just relaying some you overheard?) I'll be adding these to the database later today and I want to get the attribution right. Oh and the reading was the Jasnah one, correct?
  6. What was the question that got RAFO'd, if I may ask? And it is probably too late for suggestions but here's a question anyway: Are the Unmade and the Stormfather the same "class" of being?
  7. That is a good point, which I will have to address in my re-write.
  8. That's correct. From what I hear getting the 200 or so signed by all four was enough of a hassle in and of itself so personalizations weren't an option. Which is why I only got the Brandon one (and it was cheaper which was nice).
  9. Not really, they are pretty much just a deranged twisting of the Jesker religion (though it really has very little to do with it, there is so much twisting).
  10. So I was originally going to hold off sharing this until I finished my re-write of my Stormfather theory. I however just haven't spent as much time on that as I should be so it's taking a little while. Anyway enjoy a frustratingly unhelpful WoB about Cognitive Shadows on Roshar!
  11. "Jindo martial arts" should be ChayShan and Jeskeri Mysteries isn't a magic system, it's a religious cult.
  12. That's not how the Nightwatcher works, she doesn't twist your wish. You ask her for something and she gives you whatever she wants. From the Baxil interlude:
  13. "The Hope of Elantris" is on Brandon's site for free. "Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell" is in the Dangerous Women Anthology ed. George Martin and somebody else "Sixth of the Dusk" is in Shadows Beneath, the Writing Excuses Anthology. And they are all canon.
  14. Umm, do you have proof for that? Because I've never seen anything about that. We know Galladon is in the Ishikk interlude but we don't have anything about the assassination (and we don't have anything on Raoden worldhopping).
  15. Here is the link to where the Re-readers were discussing this. A lot of the same results were reached, and looks like they are also stumped by Yelid-nar.
  16. Minor note, Brandon has explicitly shot down that theory. Everything else in your post is pretty spot on I would say though.
  17. Woohoo! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy, my curiosity is definitely piqued by the "Exclusive new story" from Brandon. Can't wait for the in-depth look!
  18. It is really good. I absolutely loved it. Not only did it answer some questions raised during the course of WoR but also gave us a healthy dose of information for us to go crazy over. I only wish it had been post on Tor.com one day earlier...
  19. Before I start I would like to say that after due consideration this will be my last post in this thread. I really don't want this to devolve any further. You may respond if you so wish and I will read it, but any reply I make will be in private. To quote myself from post 8 in this thread, "Is your idea entirely plausible? Braize yes, I could see it working. However I do not think it is the most likely explanation..." I thought this made it clear that I do like your theory, I just don't personally think it is what is going on. I honestly thought that what I was doing was participating in the discussion and to be frank *I* felt attacked after you ignored most of post 8 to insult my use of Occam's Razor, which I had already said we had different opinions on. I don't think it's use warrants as much discussion as we placed on it. I use it, you don't, nothing wrong with that. If I have offended you, then I apologize, it was not my intent. Can you tell me exactly what I did wrong (i.e. what I did to "Tear you down") so that I may modulate my behavior in the future? I truly hope that this is not the final word in this discussion, if what you say is right and that I've scared people away from posting I implore them to come forward and discuss the theory with you. Perhaps they will be able to convince me. However this is my final word on the matter.
  20. Yeah I didn't think there was anything really new, that we hadn't already heard before so i didn't see the point in transferring the whole thing. Probably should have though (especially the women sneaking into the military question...)
  21. I'm liking the line up. Jasnah and Renarin are both awesome characters that I want to know more about. Lift is just fun. Taln and Shalash will be nice for getting the real history of Roshar (because books never get it entirely right). I am a little surpised that the second herald is Shalash, since we already have a lightweaver. I would have expected Kalak or Chanarach (depending on which order Eshonai will represent). Shalash kind of makes sense though since we do believe we've already met her in WoK (with a vauge aside in Wor). My line up? 3. Szeth 4. Eshonai 5. Dalianr 6. Kalak 7. Jasnah 8. Lift 9. Renarin 10. Taln
  22. Okay, I finished transcribing stuff Here is the Silence Divine reading: I was very interested in the question about Hoid's language: I know there have been long discussions on this. And anyone who is asking to be pm'd the White Sand questions, do you want to get added the the existing PM thread?

If it isn't set in metal he can change it. That's a big plot point for book two, he was changing Kwaan's words after they were transferred from the metal plate.
  24. Actually Roshar is able to support birds, just not the eastern half. The west, including areas outside of Shinovar have a variety of bird species. (Hmm let's see if I can find the WoB... found it!) (source) Edit: I totally had more to say, why did I click submit? And anyway, I don't think the timeline works. Brandon started brainstorming Roshar in 2001, and it would have been "recognizable" (i.e. it resembled the published Roshar) by the time he wrote TWoK Prime in 2002. Brandon and co. didn't brainstorm Sixth of the Dusk until late 2012, at the earliest. WoK was published in 2009, with Shinovar already existing, I don't think he would have put it in if he didn't have an explanation for how it was possible? It can't have been the Aviar because he hadn't even thought of them yet.
