Shattering and Splintering are essentially the same thing. Shattering should be used when talking about Adonalsium, Splintering for Shards.

Found it! (Or rather Kurk found it for me... Thank you Kurk!) (source)

I actually have a not-a-theory about this that I shared elsewhere on the internets: I'm like 95% sure that someone is going to revive a spren at some point. The "impossibility" has just been made too much of a point, just like "you can't heal severing/gentling/stilling" or "you can't heal taint-insanity". And then Nyneave al'Meara comes along.

The Surge Regrowth and Kaladin's Various Powers
WeiryWriter replied to KasA97's topic in Stormlight Archive
Do you have a citation for that? -
They've just posted a teaser trailer, narrated by Christopher Judge no less! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvgIWFb7FMY To be honest, I'm not going to be surprised if they don't reach their goal. I just don't think it's had the best media presence to gather the backers necessary. They do mention that they hope to have a presence at SLC ComicCon, where Brandon is also. I did tweet at him and Peter to see whether he knew about it but I have not heard back.

Just an FYI but this might interest you. Suffice it to say, if everything goes to plan, all the signings and panels will be covered. -
That is a theory that has been discussed, but it's not confirmed.

What would you ask the Nightwatcher
WeiryWriter replied to Bow Tie Bandit's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually we don't know his thoughts on the matter. We know that he knows what his boon and his curse is, and that forgetting his wife is (probably) one of them, but we do not know which it is.- 48 replies

Warbreaker, Mistborn, a lil' bit of WOR [SPOILERS]
WeiryWriter replied to Sloth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
All the Hoids are the same person, he's what is known as a "worldhopper" and he has an Agenda (that we know nothing about). Each of the stories take place on a different planet in the same physical universe. So they aren't parallel universes. The sword that Szeth is given is Nightblood, and the ardent Zahel is actually Vasher. Warbreaker was partially written as a reaction to the Mistborn trilogy, which was very bleak whereas Warbreaker is bright and colorful. I had not yet considered the inverse parallels you bring up, they are very interesting and make sense. And this would probably make more sense in the cosmere theories section since it primarily deals with more than one story, so I will move it.- 10 replies

Color is *not* the focus. The focus for Awakening (the only magic system on Nalthis) is the Commands. The best we can tell color is a fuel.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Does hair that is still attached to a person's head get cut if a Shardblade passes through it? If not if that person had the Royal Locks could they change the color of the hair "below" the cut? -
@KiManiak I actually have a theory that sort of explains my thoughts on this, though looking back at it now it is in desperate need of a re-write (seriously it's hideous, and doesn't touch on a lot of the points it should have). It's a complicated discussion that I don't really have time to get into at the moment (don't worry I will try to address everything, but it's going to take some time). re: 2) I want to say there is a WoB floating around that if Harmony were to be Splintered, it would not break into Ruin and Preservation, but actually smaller chunks but I'm not finding it right now.

I disagree with the premise that "two Shards can combine into a new one". Yes multiple Shards can be held by a single individual and their powers will intermingle to an extent. However it is not like they come together to make a completely new Shard. When Ruin and Preservation came together to "become Harmony" they did not cease to be Ruin and Preservation. Sazed finds it hard to act precisely because of this, he is being pulled in different directions by two diametrically opposed Intents. Saying "Ruin and Preservation became Harmony" kind of implies that it means something like "Black and White mix to become Grey" whereas the actual end result is actually more like a checkerboard, distinct portions of Black and White together (but even that is too mixed together I think).*** The thing is what you are describing is Splintering, Splinters can have their own Intents: (source) Another thing to remember is that Splintering isn't always a violent process (as Odium does it), Shards can voluntary Splinter portions of their power (as is the case with Endowment and the divine Breaths of the Returned). Also Splintering does not "destroy" the Shard, it can be reversed: (source) ***Sorry if this comes across as kind of aggressive, this just happens to be one of my biggest pet peeves... While there are instances where "Harmony" acts like a single Shard, namely if it were to be Splintered, it is still made of two distinct-ish Shards.

WoK, Death rattle from chapter 64 is Kaladin and Shallan?
WeiryWriter replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Stormlight Archive
It is something that has already been pointed out (at least once there, but I know it's been mentioned in a number of different places), sorry. Edit: Also moving this to the spoiler sub-forum, 'cause spoilers. -
Zahel and Nazh both pretending to be ardents?

So I'm sure you are all familiar with the Infinity Blade novellas Brandon wrote as tie-in's to the app games (the story of which he helped with), right? (If not Feather has something you should read) Well the composer who worked on the games (and I was privy to a lot of the behind the scenes material) has launched a kickstarter to make a fan-funded (but licensed) short film! I'm not super familiar with a lot of the lore in the universe (I really should get back to playing/reading them) but it would be really neat to see it expanded upon in new media.

That was Rushu, and she did mention a study. It wasn't done by Axies though, but by Geranid who was one of the other Interludes from WoK.

You can do it manually by putting the following around the text
insert text here
Or you can click the quote button in the text editor (should be between the code button and the twitter button).

That's what is happening, it's in the annotations... Somewhere... (It's times like these when I think, these should probably get added to the database...)

The "Mistborn" is Ruin. He is trying to make it appear that Yomen has a Mistborn as part of his plan of getting Vin and Elend to attack.
