  1. In her case I would say no since they weren't twins. At least she refers to her as her "baby sister" not her twin. In general though... It's an interesting question, probably worth asking Brandon.
  2. Elantris and The Emperor's Soul take place on the same planet, Sel, which is why they are frequently lumped together. There are a few Easter eggs in TES from Elantris such as Atsuko (the sick painter) is from Jindo, which is where Shuden's family is from; Shai runs into (literally) a Derethi gyorn during her escape; Shai carves an Aon Reo in the place of the painting she steals at the very end; and Shai also thinks about how her guards will probably stationed at the pass to the "distant Teoish peninsula". Sel was home to two Shards, Devotion and Dominion, both of whom were killed and Splintered long before the events of the books. The Dor is commonly believed to be the uncontrolled power of the two Shards. AonDor is a magic system that is powered by the Dor, as is Forgery. Does that make sense? Anyway, welcome to the forums!
  3. Not that I know of, or at least if it was it was found. As of October 8 Purelake Earthquake has/had it.
  4. Dragonsteel, or at least a version of it, was Brandon's master's thesis. The only publicly available copy of it is in the BYU library, and the wait list for it is... long. I believe the plan is for Dragonsteel, the series, to be Brandon's big project after he finishes Stormlight. Of course it'll have to be re-written since the whole Dalinar/Shattered Plains/bridge-runs thing was appropriated for Stormlight.
  5. *waves hand* There is no mistake here... These are not the droids you are looking for...
  6. Off topic for thread
  7. I believe it was Aristotle and his forms.
  8. Actually forms of glass, like obsidian, are technically not crystals. Glass is what is known as an amorphous solid, or non-crystalline solid, which lacks the internal crystal lattice that defines crystals. When you fracture a crystal the resulting break point is a flat plane, which corresponds to the crystal's lattice structure. Glass however fractures conchoidal-ly (which is a fantastic word by the way) which results in a curved surface.
  9. He mentions it off-hand here: I don't think there's been other news since.
  10. As of the 31st of October it is four weeks away. It might be the 28th of November but Peter doesn't seem sure.
  11. The forum doesn't automatically switch Daylight Savings Time. If you go to your user settings there's a check box under the timezone selection that you have to uncheck.
  12. Off topic for thread:
  13. What's going on is that I've been rather sick for the last few weeks and just haven't been able to finish things up. Hopefully now that I'm feeling better I'll be able to get back to it (after I catch up on schoolwork though).
  14. World-hopping and Sel Poolhopping (WoR and Elantris spoilers) The Elantrian Clue Brandon has further explained that the "hint" is a mis-translated Aon (but does not reveal which) and not the Lake.
  15. No, but it hasn't been very long. "Soon" is always a relative term in these situations. Personally, I'm going to wait until at least the new year before I start wondering where it is...
  16. We don't know precisely. We know it takes place between Hero of Ages and Way of Kings, and that WoK takes place slightly before Alloy of Lw. Which leaves us a 340 year range.
  17. In here and Cosmere theories, no. In the other forums, yes.
  18. We do have WoB (which I'll try to find) that Shardplate was available to all orders, but that is generally up to the individual knight whether or not to use/have it.
  19. Thank you for sharing this. I hadn't realized this interview had been added yet, and looking at it some work is going to need to be done... Edit: Just fixed this entry, but I'll have to sit down and fix all the others at some point.
  20. I would consider these two things to essentially be the same thing. I know for me, and I believe the others in the anime camp feel the same way, when I say it should be made into an anime I just mean a serialized animated adaptation, what I don't mean is "oh it should be sent to Japan and they should animate it in the traditional anime style". It should definitely have its own distinct look. Anime and cartoons are essentially the same thing, however the names have different connotations. Cartoons tend to be more episodic in nature, there really isn't a cohesive long-running story and little, if any, character progression. Anime does have longer story arcs, and there isn't a reset button pressed on character progression from one episode to the next. The term "anime" also has less of the "it's for children" thing going for it than the term "cartoon". Basically anime is more than just the style, it has its own format for telling stories. It is the format, not the style, that I/we mean when I/we say "anime".

  22. Sorry for just responding to this part of your post but do you have a citation for that? The only WoB I've seen says that he has been forming a bond "for a while", but does not quantify how long "a while" is.
  23. He hasn't been he ran out ages ago, at least there were no more as of May 22.
