  1. I see Peter post things like this and go "AHHHH! Peter is such a horrible tease." And then I think about what I would do in his position and realized I would be soooo much worse...
  2. But it won't. WoT ballooned the way it did because Robert Jordan was more of a discovery writer, he knew where he wanted to end up and a few points along the way but he didn't really know much in between. Brandon is an outliner, a super-outliner, he plans out those "in-between" bits. Sometimes things turn out longer than he expected, look at Words of Radiance, but not so much that he has to split something into two, or more, books. Basically, if Brandon says it will be ten books, it will be ten books. (especially since in this case 10 is super significant in-world)
  3. It's Dalinar in the foreground, Eshonai in the back. It depicts the scene after the Battle of the Tower, where they salute each other. Keep in mind that the cover art is cover art, it doesn't exactly depict things accurately. Namely, Dalinar's cloak being red instead of blue.
  4. Mi'ch (firstrainbowrose) makes bookmarks in the alethi script. At least I think she is still doing it. The thread about them is here. And then the link to the order form is here.
  5. Odium is defined as hatred as well as being worthy of hatred. The theory is neat but it doesn't fit Odium's Intent.
  6. EoS isn't used in Way of Kings, it was a convention that started on the wiki. When I said it was incorrect and being changed, I was referring to the Coppermind specifically. We have WoP that it was incorrect.
  7. Yes this topic already has extensive discussion in a number of different threads. I'm going to lock this.
  8. The Era of Solitude began 4,500 years ago. The EoS after the years is incorrect and being changed. @JessieQ My personal thought is that is was the fall of the Hierocracy, do you have a quote for that only being 400 years previous? Unkalaki is the hornearter word for horneaters. My personal theory about why the Unkalaki have different calender is because the calender the Alethi and most of the East uses is a Vorin one. Since the Unkalaki aren't Vorin, they wouldn't use it.
  9. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible, at least I've never found a way.
  10. I thought you were saying that the Seons of those who were taken by the Shaod had their bonds broken? Because I'm pretty sure the bond still exists? The quote in my last post seems to indicate so.
  11. Mysty is right, I'll take care of it.
  12. Thanks Shardbearer, but I'm going to lock this.
  13. This might be helpful: (source) Also Kurk, I think I disagree with your interpretation of that quote. I take it to mean at the moment of the Reod, when the chasm opened up, the Seon's bonds were broken and had to be reformed and not that the bond is broken when someone is taken by the Shaod.
  14. Ashyn, the world of Silence divine has an illness-based magic system. You get sick and you get powers. Like the common cold gives you the ability to fly or strep throat gives you heat vision. It also has a more modern tech level I think. The ten "core" shardworlds, of which we know eight, are those with "significant shardic influence". That most likely means "has at least one shard". There are who knows how many lesser shardworlds, we know of two, but they won't have more than a splinter.
  15. Or perhaps it makes them more fertile? So it isn't impossible to conceive when they aren't in mateform, just difficult?
  16. Actually what he said is he won't release it until it is no longer spoilery. Same with Dragonsteel.
  17. They happen pretty frequently, probably one or two a week maybe? (three every two weeks?) On the day Shallan arrives in Kharbranth they expect a highstorm the following day (or next few days) and Tarangian's granddaughter was trapped in a collapse during a "recent" highstorm. It can't have been too long that they were trapped I would think.
  18. Poison, I knew Modeft was mad... But poison? Weiry shook his head. It could be a clever lie to force us to avenge him but who would want to chance it? Weiry continued to listen to the conversations, staying mostly out of it. He perked up a little at Kukri's suggestions, Those are some good ideas, let's see if anyone follows them...
  19. Another cool* thing. So in Ironstance we see that Adolin inherited his plate from his mother's family and won his blade in a duel. But we had thought he inherited both. Well here's the actual quote from WoK chapter 12: So it doesn't actually say anything about his blade, we were just assuming... *Disclaimer: What the poster deems cool might be radically different from what normal people would deem cool. He doesn't care.
  20. Keep in mind the theory is not that Hoid has Nightblood but that he has an awakened sword like Nightblood. (I want to say there is a WoB that disproves Hoid's sword being Nightblood, but I'm not finding it so...)
  21. Yah, there is already a place where this topic is being discussed. I'm going to lock this.
  22. It's WoB that Preservation isn't about preserving himself. And Vin being able to kill Ruin isn't because she has some Ruinous investiture (which at his pretty negligble while she is Ascended, had more Preservation than Ruin anyway and she's no holding Preservation in its entirety, that's like a single drop of oil compared to the entire ocean). It's because she had not yet been molded by Preservation's Intent. (source)
  23. It's more than just Alethkar though. It's also used in other places, at least it is in Kharbranth. Which makes me think it is a Vorin thing.
  24. Weiry was still in shock... He had been in a daze since he had walked into the hideout (pub?) and saw the crowds milling around Modeft. He was just hanging there, like a fish. He had known the Inquistitors were horrible creatures that did terrible things but that was supposed to happen to other crews. Modeft had always outsmarted them before, what had changed? Was one of the people here a traitor? No, it couldn't be. There was no way to be sure. Some members of the crew looked ready to lynch someone, though most of the rest were trying to talk them down that it was too soon to make such a hasty decision. Weiry agreed, no one should die... Yet.
