  1. This WoB seems to indicate they are included: (source)
  2. Yah, I'm inclined to think they would have a 16-month year. It would make sense with the mythology of the world, not to mention they have a base-16 number system (I think).
  3. Hehe... That sounds good
  4. Hemalurgy can steal anything encoded on a person's soul. And since you can steal a shardblade with hemalurgy I would find it very strange if you could not steal breath with it as well. Atium acts as a wildcard in hemalurgy, and can be used to steal any trait that can be stolen. But it stealing Breath wouldn't necessary require an atium spike every time, you might be able to do it with an unknown god-metal alloy spike as well.
  5. To go to the first new post on the forums you need to click on the gold/yellow steel alphabet symbol (iron for threads you haven't posted in, tin for those you have) next to the thread.
  6. Thanks for pointing this out! There is already a thread discussing it though.
  7. Thanks for pointing it out, but it had already been pointed out in a few of the steelhunt-themed posts.
  8. When Preservation was setting up the mist-snapping mechanic he "replaced" the External Temporal metals (cadmium and bendalloy) with atium and malatium.
  9. Isn't it mentioned in the Starfalls vision that Alethela was the Kingdom dedicated to War? And the Herald that shows up there is the Herald of War? Hmm... *strokes chin*
  10. This might help you, scroll down and there's a table the lists the current, and some future, cosmere books. For now there's Elantris, the Mistborn series, Warbreaker, The Stormlight Archive, The Emperor's Soul (a novella), and Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (a short story/novellete?).
  11. Unnamed light servant
  12. The possible Herald talking to Darkness at the feast in the WoR prologue?
  13. Metalminds should be resistant to Pushing and Pulling, hemalurgic spikes are.
  14. Actually we don't know whether Dalinar forgetting his wife was his boon or his curse. All we know is that it is a result of the Nightwatchter and the Dalinar knows what his boon and curse are.
  15. Ooh, nice! The style kind of reminds me of Disney's Hercules, which I like. Don't really see it that often, so its a refreshing change of pace.
  16. The link to the recording is here.
  17. Sorry for the double post, but I updated the OP with the actual "Honor was surprised" quote.
  18. I think we can say no to that. The intents of the shards are "external" not "internal", i.e. Preservation didn't preserve himself, Ruin didn't ruin himself, Cultivation doesn't cultivate herself. Therefore I don't think hating himself is part of Odium's Intent.
  19. Not the plausibility I was talking about. I did not mean to imply that had anything to do with an objects history, just the laws of the cosmere. The conversation had been on "can you soulcast something that doesn't exist", and my point was "if it could plausibly exist in the cosmere you might be able to, if it couldn't plausibly exist probably not".
  20. I don't think so. Bindspren are an "ordinary" variety of spren that appear around objects bound with a Full Lashing.
  21. On whether Elhokar's and Gavilar's shards are the same, I can see arguments for both sides. It is entirely plausible that Elhokar simply repainted Gavilar's. He is constantly living in his father's shadow, I would think he would have to change them at least slightly to be able to cope. On the other hand he could have received another set before his fathers death. Adolin as his own shards, it wouldn't strain credulity that Elhokar could be in a similar situation. In the end though, I think someone should ask Brandon about it.
  22. Some more thoughts on the identity of smokestone: 1) I agree that it is unlikely to be obisidian. As Shardlet pointed out its not a crystal, and it would be strange for nine of the polestones to be crystals and the last to be a glass. Also Dalinar uses obsidian in a description in the Purelake vision, if obsidian=smokestone he would have said the latter. As for the volcanic activity required to make obisidian... Plate tectonics aren't a factor on the super continent but there are probably a few geologic hot spots where volcanoes would form. 2) I also don't think smokestone would be unique to Roshar/formed through a process we don't have on Earth. This kind of goes back to my point above, it would be really strange for nine of the polestones to be formed one way and the last a different way. 3) I also think, like Windy suggests, that we can discount it being "magical" in nature (like atium). In TFE they remark that "atium is different and that it doesn't really fit" whereas smokestone does. I personally think it is just smokey quartz, like the link I supplied in my previous posts suggests. On the soulcasting of "new" things: Soulcasting, especially soulcasting of non-Essences, requires an intimate understanding of the desired result. It wasn't enough to know "strawberries exist" when Jasnah was trying to soulcast the jam. She had no clue what it was supposed to be like and so it turned out horribly. Though here's a thought, perhaps in a way it is like Forgery? The more "plausible" the soulcasting result is the more likely it is for it to work?
  23. Confirmation about it being a dragon: (source)
