  1. I don't really know the answer but he is "aware" of what is happening on Roshar.
  2. Do you think you could post a picture?
  3. I just don't buy that excuse, especially in this case; a leader has absolutely no right to change somebody's body without their consent. Being a eunuch from birth is not like being turned into a eunuch later in life, it has profound effects on physiology and brain chemistry. Changing that, fundamentally changes who they are as people. How would you like it if some godly being changed your sex without asking your permission, because "for the survival of the human race we need more dudes with working parts". You probably, and quite rightly, wouldn't be a fan because its wrong to do something like that without permission. And frankly, "nobody can please everybody" doesn't really apply here. As Darnam pointed out Sazed could have spoke into all of the eunuchs' minds at once, like Rashek did with the feruchemists/mistwraiths, so he had ample opportunity to ask. And if he just decided not to that's horrible. This is getting into major theory-ground, since we don't know for sure that "Harmony" has its own inherent Intent or if Sazed just made up rules for himself. But anyway Sazed wouldn't have been under and time-crunch, it takes a loooooong time to be molded to your shard's Intent, like centuries/millennia.
  4. Okay they are both done. Steelheart Release Party Signing Jordan Landing Signing And here is the mist fabrial question, for Chaos: So little wilson, did you end up going yesterday?
  5. Okay, starting the Jordan Landing signing.
  6. Okay, the Steelheart release signing is finished. I'm going to take a short-ish break and then start on Jordan Landing. Yah, I was a little confused as well so I might not have transcribed it perfectly. I'll try and see if lyssie can shed any light on it. Yah, I haven't read SSFH yet but now I really want to (well I already really wanted to but now...) but we have a name for what is happening with Kelsier "a cognitive shadow" which just sounds cool. Yes, one of the funniest lines in the signing.
  7. So the makers of the Mistborn video game just posted an update on their facebook. We already knew about the pushed back release date thanks to Brandon but it is nice to know part of the reasons why. I for one would rather it be done well that to have them rush through it so I'm not to worried about the pushed back release.
  8. Okay, I'm going to start with the Steelheart release signing transcription. The Google doc can be found here. I'm not going to be transcribing everything, just the relevant questions (i.e. I'm not transcribing the pleasantries and such or people who don't have questions). Edit: Okay I've done as much as I can tonight but I need some sleep. I will finish the Steelheart Release party transcription in the morning (I'm pretty close anyways) and then I'll start on the other one.
  9. What do you mean by "general nerfing of how bad Ruin was" because I haven't really seen it? Ruin isn't bad, unopposed Ruin is; in the same way that unopposed Preservation would be. It might be a subtle distinction but it's a very important one.
  10. That is really what I was getting at. I think he should have given them the chance to say no. Yes they were eunuchs by force but they've spent there entire lives as eunuchs and as such it has to be a major part of how they view themselves. And being a eunuch is just like having a hand chopped off or being unable to walk, it has significant physiological effects. To fundamentally change who they are as people without their permission is just messed up. I'm not saying Sazed shouldn't have healed them, I'm saying he just should have asked permission first. Personally, I don't find that "cruel" at all. Don't get me started on Spook becoming mistborn. I HATE it with the burning passion of a thousand fiery suns, it fundamentally ruins the character for me. But yah... Not Sazed's finest hour in my opinion... Even still I don't think being King/Emperor gives him the right to change people like that? Also at this point, time wasn't really an issue so its not like he just didn't have time to ask for permission. I second this blanket permission.
  11. Syl is not a windspren, she is an honorspren. Brandon has said that they are related/cousins but they are separate things.
  12. If he did, I really hope he asked permission first. Otherwise that is such an invasion on a person's "identitiy/personal space/whathaveyou". It just feels super sketchy to me. Those men were eunuchs from birth (or close to it) and it has to be a significant part of how they view themselves, and to change that without their permission is just plan wrong.
  13. Except it is the balance/equality between the two that is keeping his personality from changing, for a while at least eventually (after a LONG time) he will change as a person. Having an imbalance, either way, could be a very bad thing. Unopposed Preservation is just as bad as unopposed Ruin. Something I really did not make clear in my last post, looking back at it now, is that Sazed doesn't "need" the pits. The pits were formed by Preservation to forcefully rip away Ruin's power. Sazed doesn't need that mechanism, he can probably just "make" atium. It would certainly be far more efficient and timely.
  14. If you are in a particularly megalomaniacal mood you could interpret that as her "volunteering" to work the livestream for you. All hail the Shardmins! Mwahahahah...
  15. I'll see what I can do about starting to transcribe these when I get home this afternoon. But thank you for posting these, and going to the signing tomorrow!
  16. Jasnah certainly seems to think so. Whether it is true, we don't know RAFO... These are very likely plot points for future books so Brandon hasn't really discussed much about the Parshendi in interviews.
  17. Brandon was asked a while back about double mistings and he said that there is no canonical way of being able to burn more than one metal, short of being mistborn or involving hemalurgy.
  18. First of, welcome to 17th Shard! Second, Brandon has said that the book had Vedeledev's and Nalan's divine attributes swapped. The correct version is Nalan-Just/Confident, Vedeledev-Loving/Healing. I hope this helps, and that you enjoy yourself here!
  19. I understand that not all fan wiki's write in present tense but I do think they should. According to the powers that be who decide the rules of English, the definitively correct way of talking about fictional things is in present tense. Those wikis are welcome to do what they want but it is technically wrong. I'm sorry if that sounds a little harsh but just because somebody is doing something doesn't make it the correct way of doing it. And personally I don't want the coppermind to be just another fan wiki. As Feather always says "the Cosmere Fandom is the Best Fandom" and I think that should be reflected in our wiki. It should be held to a higher standard. Yah we have a lot of work to do but that is part of the fun. It might be years before we reach the level I would want to see it at but I think it should always be our goal.
  20. The problem is that why would Sazed allow the pits to reform? The pits were originally put into place to forcefully deprive Ruin of some of his power by trapping it into a physical form, namely the atium. Sazed really has no reason to continue that particular mechanism. This inteview at least seems to indicate that he won't.
  21. Actually the Origin is in the East. Highstorms move from east to west.
  22. As Moogle pointed out, if Darkness is Nalan they wouldn't share as surge. If he is a herald, but not Nalan they still wouldn't share a surge because Shalash is the sixth and both five and seven are female heralds.
  23. Soulstamps loose power the farther they get from MaiPon.
  24. Writers Assemble! We must present a united front!
  25. But the cosmere is fictional. And yes they are using the tenses you are suggesting but it would be wrong to do that on the coppermind. Charlemagne is written in past tense because he is in "our" past. NO part of the cosmere is in our past, it is entirely in our present. Any "dead" characters are also alive at any given point in our timestream. Except pointing at any point in time and saying "this is the present when we write articles on the coppermind" is the definition of syncing a fictional timeline with our own. I don't agree with having a different "present" for every planet (well I disagree with having a "present" at all but that's beside the point). All of the planets are part of the same timestream, cutting it up like that is just messy. Having everything being in present tense would not only be technically correct but would just give a sense of order to the wiki. We wouldn't have to worry about what tense something should be in, and it would be consistent for every article. I agree as well.
