  1. Kynedath looks over towards Carola and chuckles for a few seconds. Looking to make sure his drink was still intact, he lifted his glass, draining it if it's remaining root beer. The rich carbonated liquid slid down his throat and came to a refreshing stop in his stomach. Placing the glass mug on the bar beside him, he turned to face Oversleep. "I would be honored to crush you in such a match. Shall we?" Kynedath got up and went downstairs and turned into the game room. He rapidly picked out the billiards table and began racking up the balls. Can I be your cue? You would most certainly win. No Voidwraith, first off, that would be cheating. Second, This game doesn't need cues. Now be quiet during this game so I can concentrate. That is totally fine with me. It was just an idea if you wanted it.
  2. Kynedath regarded Oversleep with a laxidazial gaze. He seemed to be pondering upon what the other sharder had just said with an intense amount of vigor. "I must say, I have never heard of such a variation of the traditional game. Please, do explain." I will post my OOC thoughts in green just so you know. Normally I would use blue in the spirit of SE, but I feel that since there was no clear set of rules for this, I should stray from the norm. I do have a sort of system for billiards over forums. The pool table is divided into mine sections, Head left, Head right, Head center, Foot left, Foot right, Foot center, Middle left, Middle right and Middle center. The first player will declare what they do (ie. Break, shoot, miscue etc.) and then declare where the cue ball has landed. They must then say which balls are available to shoot, and which are obscured. The rest of the rules are played as if in a real game. If the cue ball misses their types of ball, then the player who missed has the choice to either sink one of the other players balls, or bring one of their own back up. If the cue ball is sunk, then the ball goes back to the Head sector of the table and is shot by the other player. This will also result in the same course of action taken if the ball had missed the shooter's type of ball. Not the most in depth or clear explanation, and it may not even be the correct version of the rules, but that was the way that I was taught. This system of playing billiards relies heavily on integrity from the participants and requires the players to have an extremely good attitude towards role-playing. This may not be the best way to do this and I don't even know if we want to do this, but this is my two cents.
  3. I have about four minutes to look at the thread between classes at school, so when I saw that the thread had been started, I checked in to read the exposition. Also, I don't close my tabs when I leave, so I have about four going at a time per game, and when I need to use my computer, I have separate tabs open for those. If my viewing seems sporadic, then it is probably me googling something for one of my classes. My posts will probably be around 6:15 - 6:45 AM and another one at 3:50ish MST. I am not sure when you saw me but I was probably looking up the second law of thermodynamics at the time. Edit: I should also mention that if I do not have time to post all of my thoughts just before roll-over, I promise to explain them on the next cycle. I only have 15 minutes to post by the time I get home to roll-over.
  4. Kynedath slowly walks into the magnificent mansion, observing the details of the intricate palace design. Noticing the rest of the guests are at the root beer bar, he starts to make his way up the stairs. When he reaches the top, he ignores the rest of the sharders and orders two root beers. Downing the one in his left hand, he asks the others, "Anyone up for some billiards?"
  5. Without looking back up from his book, Kynedath motions to his sword. The one who first welcomed us officially was Mistrunner. Kynedath thinks that she has some sort of nervous tick since she keeps reaching to the top of her head as if her hat was out of place. "This place has been fairly quiet lately, but Mistrunner was on just yesterday. I would suggest waiting for a day or two to see if anyone else notices you." If that doesn't work, then you could always just send a PM their way.
  6. By the way guys, I am not entirely sure about my activity levels in either this game, or in LG16. Not only do I have mid-terms, but I am also applying for a scholarship through air cadets. I will try my best to post twice a day, a moderate to long post in the morning and a final thought post after I get home from school. This is for MST.
  7. Kynedath quickly glances up from his book, noticing the newcomer. Turning back to the dusty tome he was reading, he mutters: "Here comes another one, sacrificing their soul for this group of insanities." Would you like me to help you welcome them? Kynedath, you probably should go and welcome them. "Fine, you guys are probably right." Kynedath closes his book, stand's up from his recliner and begins to walk towards the newcomer whilst mentally preparing himself for the inevitably awkward conversation that will ensue. "Greetings Carola, I am Kynedath, The italics is my sentient sword Voidwraith and the Bold is my quiet yet analytical spren Seznith. Please be aware that by accepting entrance into this group of misfits and anti-social personalities, you risk being driven insane and bombarded by offerings of bookies. I do not currently have the power to accept you into our ranks but I welcome you with open arms." After the very hurried speech and silent stares that followed, Kynedath quickly turns and makes his way back to the recliner he was in to begin with.
  8. You get a sense of amiability with all other Sanderfans *Inserts moral uncertainty*
  9. Yesterday, myself and two of my friends had an argument over whether the new star wars movie was amazing, good, or disappointing. While trying to find their point of view, I remembered why our opinions were so different. We all watch movies and read books for different reasons. One of my friends reads and watches movies for the interpersonal relationships. For her, the world is what gives the people's interactions context, and the story is what they have to go through together/apart. My other friend reads and watches movies for the plot. The relationships provide the motives for their actions and the world limits/expands the possibilities of what the characters can do. I read and watch movies for the worlds and the systems. I think that the plot is a way of conveying a world to the reader. Relationships are what drive the plot, and don't affect the world directly, therefore I tend to ignore them and not care about them. Take Elantris for example (There shouldn't be too many spoilers as I am only a quarter of the way through the book, but I'll put up a spoiler anyways. All I am doing is just saying what the characters are describing). I am sure that there are more motivations out there then the ones I just listed, but these are the three I discovered, and I think that they are a good baseline. I just want to ask the question, why do you guys read? Why do you read Sanderson's books, or even at all?
  10. First off, may I ask why you are starting to form such an opinion? Second, What else did you expect? This is after all a 17th shard community based around a telepathic sword with super powers. It is based off of a very complex magical system and not just super powers. And lets just keep it that mysterious and Unknown shall we?
  11. I'd also like to point out that in Warbreaker, Lightsong's colours are red and gold. Large spoiler for Warbreaker Just wanted to let you know.
  12. They are both regarded as animals by humans. A three-legged table is like a box of kleenex
  13. Again, that's going back to social identity. Magic doesn't have the time to find out what everyone thinks of one person. All that it can do is find out what that person thinks about themselves. Going back to the stick boat and chair, they knew what they were, but they didn't have the cognitive ability to assert it. In The reason that they could say what they were was because Shadesmar translated their identity into a language that humans can understand. However, this is just my reasoning and is probably wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.
  14. When you are reading a non-Sanderson novel for E.L.A. , see the word Odium, and have to double-check who the author is.
  15. Alright, I will concede on that. We are talking about the special cases and not the average. I will admit that I didn't think about the surgical possibilities. Those change this entire thread. Again, sorry for not being able to talk about the rest of your questions, but I have read Warbreaker the most recently and I don't quite remember the finer details of the other systems.
  16. I'll sign up as Drake Pierce please. His cousin Graye lives in Persepolis. He is quiet and bordering on antisocial (I'm not very good with PMs yet so I'm going to try to stay away from them). He is 6'1'' with gray eyes, short red hair and a near permanent expression of nonchalance. He wears black shoes, socks, pants, T-shirt, hoodie, ballcap, sunglasses and gloves.
  17. Ummm . . . I applaud you vernacular good sir. While you do make very good points, I find it unlikely that social identities would effect investiture to the extent that you are implying. Also, while I do accept that personal identity can have an effect on the effects of investiture, a foetus does not have the cognitive functions to form such an individual identity. I find it unlikely (but definitely not impossible) that the developing foetus would be considered an individual by such investiture as found in Sanderson's works.
  18. I don't think that that unborn children would be able to receive breath mostly because of the physical restrictions. The donor would not be able to touch the child unless they were the mother, and even then, the breath would not have a way to reach the infant. Also, I don't know if it would work because of the acoustic restrictions. I am not entirely sure if the recipient has to hear the words or if they just have to be spoken, but if it is the former, then they couldn't hear you. As for the rest, I don't know and I am frankly too tired to think about it.
  19. Gah. Sorry guys. Sometimes Voidwraith really gets on my nerves. I wouldn't mind Kynedeath as a name, but I do prefer the one I have now. Better to be Kinddeath. Just like us swords were named. Not bad guys, not bad. I might take that up someday.
  20. Why does everybody think that I'm female? Redbeast, I am 100% guy and don't you ever call me a she again! Can I help you make the sword understand? No!
  21. Uhhh . . . Wow. So impresive! That was totally amazing considering how you learned! You have my respect.
  22. Then your blade would have triple personalities. Also, It would be incredibly difficult to not only make them all work together for one common purpose (serving you), but they would also be extremely difficult to forge together with enough skill to be compatible with each other.
