Returned that feed of Stormlight I put together this theory about "How could a Returned lives on Roshar for long (maybe infinite) time without Breath supply". First of all begin with "well know facts": - The Returned was dead people resurrected through the Divine Breath. - The Divine Breath is a Splinter of Endowment - A Returned must feed of One-Breath-amount of Investiture every week, or dies. - The Sprens are Shard's Splinters (like Seon). - On Roshar a Bond could grant additional powers. - The Seon-Bond are confirmed to give new powers on Roshar. - There are a Returned on Roshar who could be possible not use Breath to stay alive. Now I would add some of my "thesis" (this are contestable) : - The Returned are Bond with their Divine Breath. - The Roshar's Manifestation of Investiture had two effects: 1) Granted Ability based on the Bond's nature (example: a Seon-Bond doesn't grant the "surges"). 2) Granted the Ability to access to Roshar's Investiture (Stormlight) to use the point 1 Abilities. I have finished this long prologue and began to explain what my theory is: The Returned are Bond to their Divine Breath and on Roshar their Bond granted them addictional Powers. Regardless what this "powers" are, they are granted to the absorption of Stormlight to fuel them. This Stormlight could be used by the Returned to remain alive. A Returned could "suppress" his own Divine Breath every day and "unsuppress" it only when He would/must feed of Stormlight, this could me made directly from ad Highstorm (Dangerous) or quite easy from a Infused Sphere hidden from the Other's sight. If this is true, Roshar is the perfect Returned's Habitat. It offer an abundant Free Investiture (like other Shardworld) and a easy way to use its (otherwise from other Shardworld) to someone with a Bond. I really appreciate your opinion about this theory of mine

Is Szeth's Shardblade the equivalent of a spren? [Warbreaker Spoilers]
Yata replied to Plaeggs's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Brandon stated that on Roshar also other type of Bonds could gain new powers. One it's been confirmed to be the Seon-Bond (that is actually quite similar to the Spren-Bond), probably the Nightblood-Bond could grant some ability (but there isn't a 100% sure proof). This new "powers" aren't the 10 Surges (probably something linked to the bond's origin) but I think that could give the ability to assimilate Stormlight (maybe not through breathing).- 13 replies

I see at the Terrisman like the first step of Preservation Plan. But it's linked to this theory.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Yata replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You know you are a sanderfan when you look at the Periodic Table and think about their powers -
You had wrong here. The Metal-blindness of Ruin (and Preservation) doesn't extend to their creation. Is just a Focus-Blindness common (probably) to all the Shards. We have many examples of Non Metal-Blindness in R&P creations, the main is about the Scadrial's Humans who are creation of P&R and don't have metal-blindness. But if you want to use an Hemalurgic example, the Kandra and the Koloss could see the metal without any problems.

Sorry man, was early morning and for me was more simple to use an example (with math) than exaplain with words.

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The point in this therory indeed is about "Unity" to be a single "splintered shard" like could be Honor in Stormlight Archive. For this theory (that could be wrong of course) the Dor is composed be Unity's Splinters. The Sub-theory born of the main one: After I thinking about, I thought that if the separate remains of two Shards are mixing together (premise) it's probably that also the same-shard remain are merging (thesis) and the Shattered Shard could be again a Shard. Then Brandon states that is possible to un-splintered a Shard. The idea of the auto-repair are indeed strange I know, but if the interpretation of their Intent with "Unity through X" is true. They was driven by their own Intent to merge. And as far as we know this happened. The main point of this theory is: The Dor is a corpse of a new shard, not the patchwork of two corpse of shards. (cool definition indeed I have to edit the first post XD) -
You use the percentages and then forget to remember that parcentage are finite quintities (is just more simple to think about them in multipler form). In your example (of weight) you always store some part of your weight, where X is your initial weight: Every second you store ant quantity of weight of 0.3*x Kg/s in your ironmind. Then you began to put on weight and while your weight is X+1, your metalmind is fiilling at the rate of 0.3*(X+1)Kg/s but nothing has changed to the previous Feruchemical charge (stored vhen you are slimmer). In the end you came at X+2 and your storing rate became 0.3*(X+2) Kg/s. When after Z time, you don't store anymore in your metalmind and check about the Feruchemical Charge. You find that the Ironmind contains a quantity of Weight Y. Where 0.3*X*Z<Y<0.3*(X+2)*Z the exact charge depends on the amount of time you spend with a certain weight while storing it. For example if you spent the same time Z at X kg, X+1 Kg and X+2 Kg. At the end you have a charge of 0.3*(X+1)*Z Kg/s.

Favourite character of Elantris

Quite sure Galladon, he is the true spirit of Elantris not Raoden or the MegaRao Aon XD -
Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You forget all the investiture used to make million of souls. Also If Devotion and Dominion have merged, they are the center of one of the most fearfull force in the cosmere. A malestrom of wild Investiture without of control, Odium could think that are quite impossible to "pick-up" it. Well here you could be right, but I extrapolated this interpretation of the Shrds' Intent from Elantris. This don't mean that i can't be wrong of course. But I feel quite right with: Devotion= Unity through love Dominion= Unity through control (it could be "through Strenght") I was ispired (like the theory says) by the evolution of the Shu-keseg religion, but I could be wrong of course -
Spoliers/Theory: Why did Syl "die" when she did?
Yata replied to Colateralwar's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sure but my main point was another. That also a Dead-Shardblade (as far as we know the most "deathest" form of the Spren) are actually resurectable by his own former Partner. Therefore Kal resurecting Syl after her Death (true death) are possible indeed.- 32 replies

But it confirmed ?

Well He just need to gain some Breaths before and then lives with them. 50 Breaths could keep him alive for quite a (our) year.
-
No I say quite surely No. You store your attribute and then you retrive your stored attribute. At any moment you store a percentage of your current attributes. To say, if I store 50% of my strenght when my body is deeply tired, I put in my metalmind half of my current (limited) strenght
-
I missed it. So the Feruchemy became the dream of every bodybuilder of the world XD

I want just to remember that on Scadrial before the Rashek's Ascension there was the Worldbringer an organization with roots in a Wit Worldhopper we all know. The relationship Dadradah-Nalthis could me made also without put in the middle Vo. I don't say that Vo couldn't be the origin of the information. Just he isn't needed to explain the similitudes.
-
Well, she did that because she knows of the "strangeness of that thing"
-
I don't think so, if this is true that would be true also for other metal-attribute. As example Strenght, while you are weak any effort is more intense and must push your body more, like a better training. It should work in that way, the strange thing about the goldmind is that you story something and then you can access to something else from the goldmind. Probably we are always mininterpreted what is stored inside a Goldmind. We know that the Feruchemical's (and Other Investiture) Healing is a Cognitive Ability based on the user's mental-image. Theory: It could be possible that the the Goldmind doesn't anything "biologically" but stores instead the "power that mantain your body synchronized with your own Mental-Image ? When that power decreases your body began to work worst, but when it's power is above the average, the body could return more easily to the optimum state.

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's not important for the Theory, but I am not sure of the powerlevel between this two superShards. "Unity" has Seon and Skaze as Splinters it's true. But seems there aren't many of them (or at least It's how I understood from Elantris) maybe some hundreds each (Brandon states that the Selish's Shadesmar condition are the result of low number of Seon-Skaze compared to the Roshan Spren). Harmony (or the previous hosts) invested any livingform of Scadrial, invested much more the Humans with his Preservation's Investiture and then removed his extra Ruin's Investiture to balance his power. More R&P possibly created the whole Scadrial as a Planet (or at least create great parts of this). This is why I am not sure about how much avaliable power Harmony has. If He "play at home" it's probably the fearest enemy ever. But returning at the Theory, It's possible for you "comand the Dor to un-splinter" ? We saw like in the AonDor the Elantrian give precise istructions to the Dor to obtain the right result. Some colossal Aon (someone says Elantris ?) could be build to gather more Dor than usual. But what if "Elantris is expanded with modifiers in a complex (and huge) aon with the right istructions?" It could be possible to "pick-up the Dor" ? -
The Fabrial and the Surge have indeed a very small window of use. We could quite think that any dead who doesn't revived onscreen is probably still dead.

Someone asked this to Brandon and nothing, Gaz isn't born with heterochromia iridium.

The post of Oudeis and other crazy stuff in my head unlock something in my brain. I have got an Idea: We know that the goldshadows are alternative outcome of a lifetime. But there are many possible outcome (infinite indeed), why the Gold shows one specific outcome from the set of possibilities ? It come to my mind, that is the Allomancer itself to make the Choise. Maybe not exactly purposely, but the Gold could picks from the set of outcome the one that the Allomancer deeply want to know. It's like the "what if machine" of Futurama, there are a Human who ask to the machine the right result. I've got an idea I've got an ide

While the Atium isa Source of Power, that give to you access little to the Spiritual Realm (a very limited futuresight) and the Atium+Durallumin push this more far (resulting with much Atium in a true "limited-omniscience moment"). The other metals don't offer so much power therefore they must be less powerfull (or just less efficient). I think that "inferiority" can manifest with: - Limited target: The Gold and Electrum affect a very small "area", just yourself. While the atium and Malatium affect the worldwide you can see. - Limited comprehension: The Gold and Electrum don't push your mind to process the "time shadows" (if there are many). - Limited power: The Gold and Electrum can't go too far.

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well we know that Splinters carry the Shard's Intent, when they gain sentiences we have sure proof (the Seons), but i could understand your doubt about the "mindless" Splinters, In my own opinion I think that also if not sentience like the seon, with the time large amount of investiture develop a "rudimentary instinct" based on the Shard's Intent (something like the difference of Human's Intellect and the insects's one). In a WoB brandon stated that is possible to un-Splinter a Shard, but how could this be done I don't really know. It could be possible gather manually all the splinters of course. But this will take millenia. Also the Dor isn't in a easy accessible form (the mists at least manifested in the physical realm). Maybe it could be use an Aon who gather Investiture (the Rao i suppose) but i have not proof and the Dor seems quite "wild". PS: If "Unity" will be a reality, it will probably more powerfull than Harmony, remember that Harmony heavy invested Scadrial and its lifeforms. -
Here I have a similar question. Are the (not Radiant) Sprens temporarily bond with peoples/objects/phenomenas when they "Spawn" in the Physical Realm ? Why this question: Remember that anything have a Cognitive Aspect and the lesser spren could be attracted by "affine changes" in Cognitive Aspect of the things and bonding with them. Is the same mechanic of the Nahal bond but without any tradeoff "Powers-Sentiences".
