  1. I'm not sure we know what the Scouring of Aimia was about or why. Other than it appears to have involved a major ecological collapse. Since the only two things we know were involved are the extinction of the lanceryn (a species of greatshell of a size similar to chasmfiends) and the apparent extinction of the Larkin. Whereas there are still Aimians around.
  2. That would imply all full Ferrochemists could compound Lerasium.
  3. HoA is about a couple of hundred years before Szeth is born. So for her to be around to fight him she has to get resurrected. The most likely entity to do that is Harmony, who isn't going to nerf her back down. Since Harmony is working on resurrecting her, him doing so is the simplest explanation of how they can fight. Plus assuming the Florian sisters force a causality violation in another universe without time travel to allow Szeth to go back in time to face early HoA Vin means Szeth loses even if he kills her because Szeth is a perfect tool for Ruin and insane and so subvertable and early HoA Vin is Ruin's Champion and so He'll take an interest and Szeth isn't Marsh.
  4. Parshmen manage to reproduce despite being in slaveform. Eshonai does point out that the non-Odium backdoored forms only influence behaviour and thought patterns rather than being absolute.
  5. The Lord Ruler is a lot less bonkers. Since Ruin hasn't spent a thousand years whispering in his ear. There is some Spren/Seon equivalent around. TLR is probably collecting them with the intent of making himself a new shard. Which means Odium and quite possibly the Unmade and the Voidbringers will be coming. Access to Shadesmar is more difficult/dangerous, but TLR has no reason not to send Kandra and Steel Inquistors to other worlds. Hoid is probably more sarcastic than usual since for Odium to have Splintered Ruin and Preservation, he'd have to have escaped Roshar. Which means the Final Desolation has to have been at least two hundred and more likely a thousand years early. Several of the factions on Roshar have had worldhopping capabilities in the past [c.f. the Irali long Trail and Shinovar not being part of the Julia set.] and could have fled. Which means some of the Inquisitors may have Shardblades. One or two might have surgebinding spikes.
  6. For Vin to be around to fight Szeth, Sazed has to have resurrected her. Which means she almost certainly has both atium plus the new conventional metals and knows how to use them. Possibly also Lerasium and Harmonium/Sazedium. She may also have Ferruchemy. She certainly has a friendly strongly god-like entity running assistance and advice through her earring. Plus what ever bonuses being a Sliver of Infinity and having held a Shard gives her. Which may in a reverse of every other fight Szeth has been in mean if she can touch him he loses. Since Chromium almost certainly wipes all stores of magical resources [Metals, Breaths, Stormlight, Dead Monks etc] when pushed with Duralmin. And at range Szeth's only defence against Emotional Allomancy is Vin not knowing or noticing he's a suicidal depressive.
  7. Truthseer's spren seem to impose restrictions that might make recruiting squires difficult. Dustbringers have their whole the world doesn't understand us thing to put them off as well. And Bondsmith's seem to bond to unique spren under unique conditions. Whereas Windrunners have magic leadership powers and so attract more squires.
  8. H. Nohadon is the name whose symmetry due to H substitution upset Pattern.
  9. I assumed it was a quick side trip when he went on that state visit to Azir [The one on which he didn't get to explore the Purelake.].
  10. There's the bit where Sigzail is trying to work out how to measure Stormlight in Words of Radiance
  11. Watch http://youtu.be/RU_lCrjfMaw Then think about what happens if instead of adding strips of glass round the edge you press the end down on the gemstone and then add more glass on top. Or it might be the same whay Sulphide marbles were made: You might not get a perfectly centred stone and we know you sometimes get bubbles. And it comes with a way of getting a convienient flat side. That's assuming the spheres aren't manufactured by soulcasting.
  12. She runs into the problem that Syl's already being measured against Kaladin's ability to meet the Windrunner's code of honor?
  13. Way of Kings:City of Bells Later in the same chapter
  14. See the conversation he has over the amount of scar tissue he has with the surgeon when he's getting his shoulder seen to in WoK.
  15. "I am the one who gives you this charge: release your power to your contracted master. As the winds fill the sky, and the stars fill the heavens, so shall my heart fill with courage, and my hands with magic! Raising Heart, set up!"
  16. According to the Inquisitor who thinks about how it works "Inquisitors can see metal too diffuse to be affected with Allomancy."
  17. We've already seen a female Kandra that works for Sazed. MeLann (who we saw in Hero of Ages), since we have WoB she gave Wax his earring.
  18. That is a frequency shift, though. Its shifting from 1 hertz to a fraction of a hertz. And observed behaviour says frequency shifts don't occur for EM radiation across the boundary of the bubble. Can we answer this using Realmatics? Do we know if clocks are affected by Bendalloy bubbles? Or have we hit one of those the Spirit of the item feels it should work this way effects like in Forgery. Or for that matter have we seen any one use Allomancy across the boundary? I don't remember Wax ever steel pushing things outside from inside one of Wayne's bubbles. And that ought to be a ridiculously powerful effect even if the pushes are inaccurate. Scarily it is entirely possible that the way time works in a Bendalloy bubble is based on what Wayne's common sense tells him should be the effect. Or while you are in a time bubble you are seeing by the spirit of the light rather than it's physical component. Reasonable. There is an apparent inconsistency here, that is probably going to take a cunningly worded question to sort out and we'll know when we've found that question because it will get RAFO'd.
  19. Doesn't work. Light isn't red or blue shifted across the boundary of a cadmium or bendalloy bubble, so you can't assume a frequency shift.
  20. I was thinking doner kebab [i.e gyro/shawarma for the Americans, Greeks and Arabs among us]
  21. I've been thinking about Lensman again. A metal that stores Inertia. Probably an Atium-Iron alloy. Call it Bergholmium
  22. “I must. I hope to return. I’ll do so if I’m not killed. Probably will anyway. Apologize to your nephew for me.” “He won’t be happy,” Dalinar said. “He’s fond of you.” “Yes, it’s one of his more admirable traits,” Wit said. “Alongside that of paying me, letting me eat his expensive food, and giving me opportunity to make sport of his friends. The cosmere, unfortunately, takes precedence over free food. Watch yourself, Dalinar. Life becomes dangerous, and you’re at the center of it.” Which is as nice about anyone as Hoid ever is. I've checked and it looks like I was confusing the Queen with Elokhar's chief scribe.
  23. Wit claims to be fond of Elhokar when talking to Dalinar. IIRC she's Sadeas's niece.
  24. According to Britannica Chromium metal was first produced by electrolysis in 1854, 1898 Hans Goldschmidt demonstrated using the aluminium technique you are calling Thermite. So late 19th century / early 20th Century tech is fine. Which is what we see. Miles has electric furnaces in his new lair, so they are sufficiently common he isn't worried about someone wondering what became of one of the few around. Either Induction or Arc will do for the temperatures we are talking about.
  25. Parshendi Mate form, along with assuming the other forms, involves magical intervention so that isn't a reason to object. Especially given the major physiological changes Parshendi form shifting involves and the fact we have an example of at least one other form with active magical abilities. We also have the implication that the spren involved with Mate form are of Cultivation. Interestingly there is no mention of the colour of parshmen blood so far [even in the one scene with the pile of dead parshmen when Shallan is being hunted or the scene where Rlain is tattooed], all the references to orange blood specify Parshendi, and by implication are Warrior or Storm form.
