Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
Zas678 replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry Sart! I guess that one's kind of my fault. EDIT- It should also be mentioned that it was believed that Stink was tied, so Elbereth's vote change would kill Stink. That then raises the question. Did the Ghostbloods want Stink dead as a Son of Honor? Or do the Diagramists have a vote pull that they used to get rid of him? I personally recommend to Cooks that they don't get rid of Runners. Although they may be for the other team, they, combined with Bondsmiths and the Versitilian Scholars and Assasins, are our only hopes at gaining more information then the Diagramists. As for who to vote for? I'm not sure. I was going to vote for Sart since there seemed to be funny business, but since the funny business was from the GMs, I'm not sure anymore. I'll keep watching.- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
Zas678 replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks Wilson! In that case, again going off of Adavantos with the changes after as well: (3) Sart: Kipper (1), Mailliw (3), Paranoid King (2) (2) Adavantos: Sart (1), DeathClutch (1), (2) Creccio: Clanky (2), Arraenae (4) (2) Mailliw: Araris (1), RipplyGylf (1) (1) Stink: Orlok (1) (1) Hellscythe: phattmer (1), (1) Paranoid King: Adavantos (3) (1) Venture: Seonid (1), (1) Starry: Hellscythe (3), And our result was: Sart (2): Mail, PK Adavantos (2): Deathclutch, Sart Creccio (2): Arraenae, Clanky Mail (2): Araris, RippleGylf Stink (2): Orlock, Elbereth Hellscythe (1): Phattemer PK (1): Adavantos Venture (1): Seonid So Elbereth was moved form no one to Stink, Kipper was moved from Sart to no one, and Hellscythe was moved from Starry to no one. So I can think of 3 reasons votes are moved. 1. The person themselves have a vote-changing role, and move people to protect themselves. 2. Either a leader or a follower of the person has a vote changing role, and they figure that it's better to bet that they aren't a Ghostblood than that they are, so they move to protect them. 3. They are a Diagramist and so a Diagramist moves the vote. The most suspicious of these moves (to me) is Kipper's move from Sart to no one. If it weren't for this change, Sart would've been lynched. Also, it seems likely that either Starry or one of Starry's leaders or followers is a vote changer, or Starry's an explorer. I don't think the Diagramists would've moved a vote off of someone that only had one vote. EDIT- Formatting- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties

Stink (2): Orlock, Elbereth Sart (2): Mail, PK Adavantos (2): Deathclutch, Sart Creccio (2): Arraenae, Clanky Mail (2): Araris, RippleGylf Hellscythe (1): Phattemer PK (1): Adavantos Venture (1): Seonid Here's the list that Adavantos had, with my adjustments, but I don't think it's right. The discrepancies seem WAY too large. Anyone willing to go through the thread and double check, counting all of the first red posts of each person? (3) Stink: Hellscythe, Orlok, Twelfth, (3) Sart: Kipper, Mailliw, PK, (2) Adavantos: Sart, DeathClutch, (2) Creccio: Clanky, Stink, (1) Hellscythe: phattmer, (1) Orlok: Arraenae, (1) Venture: Seonid, (1) Mailliw: Araris, (1) Paranoid: Adavantos I'll wait till this is confirmed before trying to comment.- 937 replies

*Possible Shadows of Self Spoilers* I'm not planning on spoiling, but it's likely that the discussion will head that way. So at the Barnes and Nobles Orem signing on Saturday, Brandon was asked to write up something that we didn't know about Harmony, and he said/wrote the following: Some of us there tried to think of some different things that Harmony would be called if he wasn't so controlled. Some said Chaos, others said Desolation (the Preservation of Ruin). My sister, who was there and is currently rereading Final Empire, found this in the epigraph of Chapter 8: Now it could be talking about Vin, or Sazed pre-ascension, or it could be a Ruinated text. However, I think that this could be what Harmony would be called if Sazed wasn't so good at being in control of the two powers. What do you guys think?

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties

So it seems that if there's a tie, there won't be a lynch? I didn't realize that. And I'm glad Mail lasted till round 2. Congratulations! Now what would be the motives behind the three attacks? It seems we have two active cooks and the Diagramists. So Venture, Arraenae, and Mail were attacked. Mail- caused quite a stir with his fake list. He initially claimed Ghostblood with his list, then claimed Son of Honor when he admitted to it's falsity. Some believe he's a Diagramist, others don't. Arraenae- I'm actually kind of surprised they were killed. What posts did they make before they died? I'll pull the posts from Adavantos's list... Same with Venture actually. Looking through his posts, he claims to be a "good guy" runner captain, but doesn't specify if he's a Ghostblood or Son of Honor. Many discuss him, and Seonid and Mail vote for him, but Mail retracts his vote. In my estimation, Mail was attacked either for his list, which gave people suspicions of him being a Diagramist, or for claiming to be a Ghostblood (by a Son of Honor cook who didn't recheck later), or for claiming to be a Son of Honor (by a Ghostblood cook). It's also possible he was attacked by a Diagramist cook who thought he was too clever, or that there were enough reasons to kill him that it'd be difficult to determine a motive. Venture was attacked, seemingly, because the Diagramists believe, or want us to believe, that he really is a non-Eliminator Runner. Arraenae. They could have been attacked for claiming to be a Son of Honor (since they were listed as a Ghostblood on Mail's list and they said that was wrong), or for showing suspicions of Kynedath. They were most likely killed by a Ghostblood Cook. EDIT- looking through the Rules, I notice it doesn't mention anything about ties in lynches. GMs- What occurs when there's a tie in lynches? No lynch? Random lynch? Is there a minimum vote number? I doubt it, or it would be mentioned. Because if there is supposed to be one, it seems probable that we hit an Explorer who was Exploring, or possibly someone who was hit by Regrowth. Also, I didn't realize originally that Edgedancers and Surgeons could heal, so there's at least 3, possibly more healers out there.- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
Zas678 replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Some numbers! So running the numbers, assuming that each leader needs to have 2 subordinates, here are the basic numbers per team: Minimum: Leader: 1 Commander: 2 Captain: 4 Regular: 8 15 people per team, or 30 total. Now if we assume that the extra players went to the bottom: Leader: 1 Commander: 2 Captain: 5 Regular: 10 18 people per team, or 36 total. Now since this is a complicated role game, I bet (though those with more experience can tell me) that about a quarter of the players are Diagramists (6 players). This gives the following odds for Diagramists being in each role: Leader: 5.6% Commander: 11.1% Captain: 27.8% Regular: 55.6% So that basically means, if we're lucky, they're all Captains and Regulars. If we're not lucky, we'll have a commander or a faction leader in there. I hope not- a Diagramist Leader will kill and manipulate the game pretty quickly. I think we have to assume that they're not, if only for the fact of being able to use our factions at all. As far as activity goes, I will be not posting much this first week due to finals, but after that I should be posting quite a bit more. I only have to live through 4 cycles! EDIT- As far as Mail's list goes, it seems clear that it's not entirely accurate. Even if he is a commander and wanted more information out there, why would he do it in that way? That's information mixed with misinformation. The only person that benefits is Mail- he is the only one who would be able to accurately judge what is or isn't information. So if he is a commander or leader, he's a self serving one. If he's a captain or regular, than he's looking for our responses to his randomly generated list. Either way, a good way to kick off a game!- 937 replies

He's getting ALL SORTS of requests to do writing. First Minecraft, than Marvel, now this. I'm just glad he accepted to do it. Although I was surprised by how light it was. It's almost like it wasn't even there! Oh, and Firefight was also there.

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
Zas678 replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After talking with wilson at the Orem signing, she's convinced me to come on board! I probably won't be very involved the first 2 or 3 cycles (till Friday afternoon), but after that I've got all the time in the world! I'll be Zas, a shoemaker that's grown to be quite inventive in methods of trying to make shoes out of unusual things. There are rather limited resources on the Shattered Plains, and even fewer in Urithiru, at least currently. If his plans go well, that won't be true for long...- 937 replies

It was all good! It ends up they had pulled a lot of Brandon's book over to the signer section that I hadn't seen, and almost all of Brandon's books were there in their various formats (including Firefly). There were a good number of people there. Brandon and Jason Denzel (one of the people from Dragonmount) both read from their books. Jason just released a book called Mystic a few weeks ago and read an unreleased prologue from that, and Brandon read the Dalinar flashback that he's been reading all tour. Then I set up my recording and caught about 2 hours before I had to leave. I'll post that on here tonight, but there was some interesting things about Harmony, Vasher, Shai, Seons (and Splinters in general), the Spiritual Realm, a little bit on bubbles, and, of course, some RAFOs. I know other people from around here also came through the line, so if they want to post what they found first, that'd be great!
-
So! Brandon's going to be signing today at the Barnes and Nobles in Orem, Utah, starting at 2. I bet he'll probably be there till 6. B&N is handing out tickets for the line, starting now, so if you want to swing by and snag one, you won't have to wait as long. Also I was there last night, and it seems like they have a limited stock of Brandon Sanderson. From what I remember, they had a handfull of hardcovers for Mistborn 1 & 3, and Warbreaker. The rest have a handful of paper back copies, but there's no Firefly at all there. There's a chance that they have more copies that they're saving for today, but don't count on being able to buy hardcover books there. I will be there for probably the whole thing, and I'll be recording it. I may or may not be in my Pattern costume, but if not, I'll bring the head so people can take pictures with it. Hope to see y'all there! EDIT- I also didn't see any Alloy of Law or Shadows of Self.

So our next Cosmere club meeting will be on Thursday the 14th at 7:00 pm
-
Yep! Same place, same time. And I'll go ahead and bring the pizza.
-
A reminder that this is on Thursday at 7! Who wants to bring Pizza/refreshments?
-
So I think we're meeting again on Thursday this time, on December 3rd at 7. Does that work for everyone?
-
I'll go ahead and grab Pizza for tonight. See you guys there!
-
Looks like we're keeping it today at 7. Does anyone want to volunteer to bring pizza?
-
We could do it on Wednesday instead. Does that also work for people? If not, we'll stick with Tuesday (sorry Slowswift!).
-
Brandon was talking about this at the Release Party at BYU. If I remember correctly, it's about a group of scientists that look at alternate universes that are about to have cataclysmic events, and they go there and try to stop it. When asked if it was in the same universe as one of his other books, he mentioned it being in the same multiverse as a series that supports multiverses (aka Reckoners, with Megan's multiverse channeling).
-
Kind of like cosmere themed apples to apples (actually it's cards against humanity, but the concept is the same)
-
Probably talk about Shadows and play Cards against the Cosmere? Unless people are wanting to do something different. And I did mean the 3rd.
-
Hey guys! So I know that we had talked about having a meeting in mid-to late October, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. How about we meet up November 4th? That's the first Tuesday in November. Or do people want to meet a different day? Also, a reminder for those BYU students that early registration starts next week, so if you are interested, you can sign up for Brandon's lecture class (where you'll listen to him talk), or apply to his writing class (which is more of a writing group thing). I'm not sure which class it is, but I'll let you know when I know. EDIT- Found it! His lecture class is English 321-002, (1 credit hour), and his writing class is Engl 318-002. Here is more information from BYU- we'll probably hear more from Brandon soon though.
