  1. @Gamma: My primary concern is that Ripple was lynched when she shouldn't have been. Considering that Day 1 began at exactly 0401 EST and Ripple changed her vote from meandbooks to phatt at 0412 (more than 48 hours from the initial post), it should not have taken affect and therefore the two of them would have been tied and both still alive. But I suppose it's too late for that now that her role has been revealed. I'm very sorry Ripple, I wish I could have done more to help. EDITED IN CORRECT TIME
  2. As I only had time to look through all the posts for red and not check the order, this is a basic tally of all the votes, as of now. (2) Meandbooks: Sart, Araris (3) Phatt: Alfa, Adavantos, Ripple (3) Ripple: Alvron, Creccio, Joe (1) Deatchclutch: Lopen (1) Mailliw: Kas (1) Sart: Clanky (1) Lopen: Mailliw (1) Joe: Orlok I do not think phattemer should be lynched; I only selected him because at the time (according to the last vote tally, which was wrong) it seemed like the only choice to keep ripple/meandbooks from being killed. Admittedly my reason for defending them have nothing to do with the what's going on in this game, but because of meta reasons (books being brand new and ripple being fairly new and the fact she was taken out extremely early in MR8). I try to avoid having the same players die in the beginning of these games because I imagine it would feel very bad for them, which is one of the reasons why when I was an eliminator in QF10 I insisted for us not to kill phatt because in every game I played until then he was one of the first to die. If I had a choice of it, I would have rather swung the vote in Joe or Lopen's direction, and if not either one of them, Mail or Sart.
  3. In response to your suspicions of me, Kipper, I am by no means attempting to assume a leadership role in this game, nor did I really in the last QF. It was Joe who did that, and while I still am unsure how I managed to obtain his trust that game - as I never intended or tried to - I didn't attempt to take advantage of it until the last few cycles. Either way, regardless of my alignment in any of these games, I plan to play the same way; as in by posting as large a quantity of quality posts as I can and being open with a majority of, if not all, of my thoughts. On the subject of me gathering a tally of which players support a day one lynch (and their reasoning why), this is information that I personally find important as I can cross reference what people say with the opinions they've expressed in past games and compare it to any future statements, in order to discover contradictions and faults in their character. There are some significant differences in my posts from last game and this one, though; the poke votes being the most noticeable. I had no reason to do that last game [partly because Mailliw was doing it already, but mostly because I already knew all the people I needed to kill and therefore was confident enough that I didn't need to instigate any conversation to achieve my goals]. I essentially had no part in any of the lynches through the first half of the game, as it was much easier to sit back and let the villager's tear out each others throats while I created false leads with our nightly kill. Besides a gut feeling from Alvron that wasn't mentioned until Cycle 6 or 7, no one expressed any doubts of me being on the side of good. My point is, if you have suspicions of me this early, it's because I am unable to play as smooth as I would like due to me being clueless as to whose on my side and who isn't. Even worse is the fact that I received a role that in my opinion is the most useless one [for my play style as well as helping the village as a whole]. EDIT: Also, just read the aforementioned post by Kas, and by george, I think he's got it.
  4. If I recall correctly, the first day of MR8 was 8 pages long. My memory is seldom reliable, and as I am at work right now I can't commit more than a few occasional glances, so if anyone else wants to confirm that, feel free. At some point I would like to do a detailed analysis of every player's posts so far, but I don't think it'll be worth much this cycle. Until people begin dying I likely won't be able to discover anything of use. With that in mind, I have to ask. Who supports a lynch this day and who doesn't? Simply add a yay or nay in your following posts and I will begin tallying it up. I would go back to read everything I've missed, but until my shift finishes I can't dedicate that much attention to this game.
  5. Thank you for contributing, Alfa. Gamma, if both a soother and a rioter target the same player, will they cancel each other out (I.E. allowing the target to decide what happens) or will the sooth overpower the riot (role-block) or vice versa (forced burn). Depending on Gamma’s answer, this is a potential defense against an enemy soother, though with every player that targets a tineye the chances of him discovering the identity of the lurcher and not one of the others is significantly reduced. It would be an especially unfortunate situation if he ended with the name of a skaa soother who then claims to be an inquisitor lurcher.
  6. Speaking of a difference in time zones, I am about to go to bed myself [though I have an alarm set for 5 hours from now so that I can begin downloading Tales of Zestiria, since that’s when it will be officially released on Steam - yay]. Before I go I will be removing my vote off of Orlok. I noticed that you had been browsing several old games and was curious to see the reason why. I’m guessing from your post that you were analyzing Venture’s past playstyle. Within the last hour I have witnessed several other players view this thread without posting, as well as one who has yet to wander over here but is viewing the community index [whatever that is exactly]. Their names are as follows: Clanky, Araris and Alfa; The Honey Badger. These are just those I have noticed, and it is possible that I have missed others. If those who will be active across the next 8 hours can reel in their attention, in addition to anyone else who appears before my return, I would appreciate it greatly. Alfa, I see you bouncing around forums a lot, though you still haven’t said anything. Do you have a reason why? What are your thoughts on the subjects being discussed so far? I don’t think you’re evil, I just want everyone to participate, and of everyone I named you seem the most active given how many threads you’ve looked recently. EDITED FOR COLOR

  8. Welcome Mea is it true you hail from Japan, or am I reading your profile wrong?
  9. @Kipper. Based on the context of Wyrm’s post, I don’t believe he was trying to imply that we should lynch Venture, but discuss him. I’m going to go ahead and guess that the reason he added the vote to it was to emphasize it and see how people would react. I don’t think anyone would honestly suspect Venture to be evil off of that first sentence alone. It’s just as Winter said, he did that to instigate conversation. Though you’re right, he didn’t provide any real discussion on that subject in particular, he did bring up a few other things of note. We already have players putting down their opinions of a first day lynch (or in some cases, implications). There is something else that he said worth drawing attention to, though. @Wyrm: To clarify, burning tin will only tell the user one random player who visited them, so there is no guarantee that even that would give us a solid lead, as it’s possible the person he sees is the lurcher who saved him. That makes me wonder, Gamma; if a lurcher saves someone, who do you tell? Both players? Only the Lurcher? Only the target? Is it announced in the following write-up? @Sart: Does this post mean you support day one lynch's, as well as [some interpretation of] the Contribution Crusade? Though I always appreciate RP, it’s not very helpful on its own. And while I believe it’s noble of you to encourage new players to participate, I think the way you are going about it is wrong, let alone poorly timed. @Joe: I take it you support a day one lynch then, Joe? [based on you’re last statement of ensuring a lynch]. If so, could you explain to me why? @Sart [again]: I fail to understand your logic in your second post. Just because you put a player’s name in red doesn’t mean they’re suddenly going to be aware of the thread. It’s still very early in this cycle and unless you know more about Meandbooks than I do, they could very likely be in a timezone far away and still asleep or preoccupied with work at the moment. As such, I think this poke vote makes the least sense of all. If you are going to poke anyone in order to get them to talk, how about you target the players like Orlok or Clanky, who I have caught viewing this thread several times but still haven’t said anything? EDITED FOR COLOR CHANGE
  10. @Winter: I was not aware that most of our games here include a 24/7 Evil Doc. I suppose that impression was left on me by my first game, further supplemented by my understanding of the original mafia and my temporary obsession of ToS. P1: Yes, this is usually [or at least should be] what we do. However - as mentioned by Sart - there is a noticeable number of new players this game, so I was mainly trying to draw their attention to a fact they may have overlooked and provide some guidance on what they should do throughout the course of the game. P4: Is it important? Maybe not. I personally believe it’s worth considering so that we may realize what advantages we have versus what the skaa can use against us. Because of the fact that the Seeker can only find out what metal a player is burning / if they targeted someone or only themselves, it would be useful for them to have an idea of what roles the enemy might possess. P5: Though I agree it isn’t necessarily a sign of an eliminator, I believe that - just as Hero was attempting to inspire players to be active by killing inactives - it will inspire players to attempt some kind of helpful contribution, which should mostly benefit the village. A skaa obligated to speak may end up slipping, or a player who would otherwise be quiet may bring a new perspective that other players would have never found on their own. EDITED FOR JUSTIFICATION
  11. @Gamma: to mitigate any future confusion, may you please change my name from Alvom Halbin to Adavantos in the player list? Thank you. Before I say anything else, I want to bring something to all the inquisitors attention. Since we are unable to utilize personal messages this game we are at a severe disadvantage compared to the skaa. Instead of each Cycle being divided into a Day and Night Turn they are combined, which means that the skaa have constant access to their private document. Therefore it is essentially impossible for us to coordinate [without the skaa knowing] while they can conspire all they want without risk of their plans leaking out to us [unless they deliberately release anything in-thread]. With this in mind I ask all inquisitors be especially wary of manipulation, paying close attention to all player’s voting patterns and communicative tendencies throughout the course of the game. I think a “debate” on whether or not we should lynch someone on the first cycle is a good idea, as typically it keeps people talking. Though doing so likely won’t reveal anyone, as I believe that most people’s opinions on this subject will transcend their alignment, the sooner we begin establishing a rapport as a group the better. So on that subject I could swing either way. Personally I am not fond of player’s being lynched without solid evidence set against them, and the chance of us hitting a skaa with our first vote is extremely unlikely [varies on the reason why we chose the target]. However, as Winter has pointed out, we don’t really gain any information from doing nothing either. Instead we end up waiting to see who the skaa kill, which will likely tell us little to nothing because they’ll either take out a more experienced player [also known as a fear kill], someone who has been openly opposed by their fellow inquisitors [in order to implicate them], or someone who hasn’t posted much, if at all, so that we learn nothing or nothing of note. Unless something significant develops in the next ~40 hours, a first day lynch is going to ultimately be little more than a numbers game. Which is why I think we should also toss out thoughts about the alignment and role distribution. Given there are a total of 26 players, it can be reasoned that 5 or 6 of those are skaa, depending on the percentage of total player’s Gamma decided to use. It’s also possible that there are only 4 total if they were ‘stacked’ with powerful roles. Personally I am going to assume 6 until it is proven otherwise, for the sake of keeping me on my toes. There are a total of nine guaranteed roles, with the potential of a tenth (atium) that’d likely only go to one player. As I only received 1 allomantic ability I am going to also assume that there are no players with two hemalurgic spikes sticking out of them. I can’t remember if this has been asked or specified already, but Gamma, can we know if there are any players who received no abilities? As there are a limited number of charges, I would not be surprised if there are multiple coinshots and rioters, though I severely doubt there are more than two of them. I would then guess that the other seven roles would have 3 each, bringing us to our total number of players. This would offer the most variety of roles among the group without breaking the game (I think) but it is likely extremely off. While it may be what I have done if I were GM, I am neither experienced or knowledgeable enough to know if this would work. So I would like to ask all players who have run a game or two [a few] in the past, what they may have done if they were in charge, and what monkey-wrenches they would expect Gamma to throw in, if he would throw any. If we end up selecting a player to lynch randomly or on a whim, there is a 75-80% chance we will kill one of our own. Then there’s also the danger of us taking out a role that might be useful to the inquisitors. Though the 20-25% of removing a skaa from the game might be tempting, it’d likely do more harm than good. While I am against the Contribution Crusade in its current form, I support my interpretation of it wholeheartedly. Targeting inactives is not a particularly helpful strategy. A lot of us have lives that exist beyond this forum that require disparate amounts of attention, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who realizes how unpredictable it can be. I think it’s wrong to kill someone because they can’t contribute, but I am all for it if they won’t. What I am referring to is the lurkers and those who post comments of little to no worth. If we are unable to weed out skaa among those who give something of themselves to the conversation, than those we need to question are the silent observers and the off-topic talkers. On the latter’s note, there is nothing wrong with making the occasional joke, rant or tangent, but I ask that if you’re going to post it, don’t post it alone. You don’t have to tell us all of your secrets, but please try to be open with some of your thoughts. We have a lot of time to sort out our first move as a collective and as individuals. Let’s try not to squander it, yeah? EDITED TO FIX GRAMMAR / SPELLING
  12. I haven't been participating up until this point, but I will lay a vote on Odium as well. Past arguments are pretty solid (Despite my undying love for Dalinar, he just isn't at the level where he can take on a Shard who has already killed at least three of his kin, "trapped" or not). EDITED: Because patar ninja'd me. Does that tie up the vote, then?
  13. Changed some things around with my previous Watchers on the Wall MR, would appreciate any and all feedback. EDIT: Whoops, meant to put this on the Art of Game Creation. Sorry about that. MR: Winter is Coming Legends speak of the Long Night - a period of darkness that lasted a generation, when demons emerged from the arctic north, mounted on undead steeds and allied with the shambling corpses of fallen men, to invade and eliminate all life on Westeros. Along with the Children of the Forest, the First Men fought valiantly, ultimately being driven into the southern lands but not before they dealt a critical blow to the Others and erected a massive wall of ice and magic from the Great Gorge to the Shimmering Sea. It was then the Night’s Watch was founded to guard the realms of man in case the Long Night should ever return, and now, 8,000 years later, it seems the time may finally be near. After receiving reports of the White Walkers return, the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch has allowed wildling refugees through the gates to augment his weakened forces. Along with a company of soldiers ordered by a faraway king, the free folk now live and work among the Sworn Brothers. Despite the necessity of the situation, each faction looks upon one another with distrust and prejudice. Tension is at an all time high, driving those few disloyal souls to join together with hopes of uprooting this fragile alliance and seizing control of Castle Black. In the dead of the night these traitors conspire to murder their faithful brethren in a last, selfish attempt to save their own skin before it’s too late. In the famous last words of House Stark; Winter is Coming. Do you have what it takes to survive? Overview This is your standard mid range elimination game, each Cycle lasting for a total of 48 hours, split between an equal Day and Night phase. There is a slight catch, however; depending on the amount of players who sign up, there will be a limited number of Cycles until the Long Night finally does come, resulting in an invasion of the Wall and the utter annihilation of all living players. That is unless either the Faithful or the Traitorous win before then. A couple things to note about this game: no PMs are allowed, so unless you’re involved in one of the two night docs, the threads will be the center of all discussion. Both the Evil Doc and the Dead Doc can only be used during a night cycle. The Evil Doc for obvious reasons, the Dead Doc because of a certain role that has the ability to communicate with the dead. What this means that even if you are killed you can STILL have an impact on the game, so if you end up dying don’t go inactive. You might have some info that will benefit your team. Additionally there are no vanilla roles, so everyone will have an ability to exploit, and I may or may not include the Neutral role, depending on things. So without further ado: The Roles: Conditions, Events and Order of Actions
  14. Put me down to run an MR, please and thank you. EDITED: Or make that a QF, if that'll be needed sooner. Either way, I will probably be running a version of Winter is Coming - which will be posted soon for reference.
  15. Honestly I would not be surprised if this ended up becoming a reality. Of all Brandon's work, I am least versed in Mistborn, so I'm unsure if there's a way he could effectively become immortal or worldhop with his current powers. However, after the release of SoS I've seen many people ask if Harmony can turn a willing person into a kandra, which could solve the aging problem, and if he becomes an agent of Harmony I could definitely see him using his shardpool to traverse the cosemere, causing all sorts of shenanigans.

I think it's an original creation by someone. The artist's name is on the bottom right corner of the image, though you can't see it here.

  17. My guess is that's because Seons are Splinters of Devotion (they are utterly devoted to their owner, which a young Raoden confuses with slavery) while Skaze are Splinters of Dominion (and therefore seek sovereignty/control, which would unite them together).
  18. Were Terrismen transported to Scadrial from Yolen (along with Leras/Ati) after the Shattering of Adonalsium, in a similar fashion to the Rosharian's exile from the "Tranquiline Halls"? (In our community it is understood that allomancy is distinctly Preservation, hemalurgy Ruin, and feruchemy is considered a balance of both. But what if Feruchemy was one of, if not the only, original power(s) of Adonalsium (which was a perfect balance of all 16 Shards), which may explain why both Hoid and the Terrisman possess this ability, as well as the reason for why Hoid is so efficient with all magic systems.)
  19. MR: Watchers on the Wall “Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night’s Watch, for this night and all nights to come.” Castle Black. Men from all walks of life serve here, defending the Wall from the savages that thrive beyond it. Though many were conscripted for committing terrible crimes, most have learned to accept their bitter fate, becoming better men than they were before. And yet there are still those selfish few who deny these oaths, their treasonous hearts praying for an opportunity to abandon their post. As if summoned by the Old Gods themselves, a wildling appeared and infiltrated their ranks. Disguised as an ordinary kneeler, he gathered allies and devised a plan. Murder the Lord Commander. Manipulate the Watchmen into killing one another in search of the turncoats. Seize power during the confusion that follows. It was a great plan, to tell the truth. Tension was at an all time high and distrust was especially prevalent among the Sworn Brothers, old and new. Though the Traitors were arrogant, doubting the power of a fellowship forged amidst suffering. Kneelers though they may be, the Loyal Watchmen would not go down without a fight. Overview Roles: So this is what I've got written up so far. Would appreciate any and all feedback, also a bit of help trying to determine the action order xD. And if it would be better to have the Lord Commander vote at Day 3 or Day 5, since I was personally debating which would be more appropriate for the length of the game.
  20. I am not sure if this is the best place to post it, but I have officially begun playing Town of Salem and would love some mates to experience it with. Tag is: Adavantos. EDIT: Also, I am in the process of creating my first ASoIaF-themed elimination game called Watchers on the Wall and would love to bounce some ideas around with people in a google doc.
