    Stayed up all night for a stream by my favorite podcast, was fun. Otherwise I didnt do anything, Halloween is only almost a thing here and if you live in the outskirts of nowhere no one cares about it.

    A video says more than a thousand words. If youtube plays videos at about 30 fps and one image is worth at least 1001 words... no... that makes no sense... anyway, watch the trailer.

    Not to feed the flames of your sleep deprived insanity, but it is not as unrealistic as you think. I've seen stores that basically only sell Warhammer and somehow still manage to go around. The place where I buy my books sell comics, manga, anime, genre fiction books (in english), boardgames, role playing stuff and other miscellaneous nerd stuff. It doesnt make enough money to support one shop, but 3. So it is not unrealistic at all, just very, very hard.

    @Argent Then the question is: Do we use Larks dead group; the one I made for offensive card games that has more people, but is mostly dead or do we make a new, official one?

    How do we feel about Codex Alera, profanity wise? I think Crows make a lot of sense as a swear, with crows being seen as omens of death and all that. Perdido Street Station has some decent swears too (godshit)... other than that I cant think of anything... I have "Son of a three-headed whore" in Skyverea, but that's aside the point...

    Do yourself a favor and read The Kingkiller Chronicles... and Dresden Files... and I haven't read Earthsea, but read that too.

    The Blood Mirror (Im sure Im not the only one), Red Seas Over Red Skies, Weaveworld by Clive Barker, Elric of Melniboné by Micheal Morcook and Childhoods End. I'm only halfway through The Broken Eye, but anyway.

    The art of originality is not to never rip off anyone, it is to rip off everything. All media you have ever consumed, everything you have experienced, all of it, throw all of it in a metaphorical pot and see what blends together. I think that is superficial enough that no one is going to call you out on it.

    I am terrible at math, but lets see... is it like one in twelve for it to happen once? For it to happen three times... 1 in 36? Disclaimer: Im really bad at math, if I got that right it was a fluke.

    You don't need a biological way if you have magic, as long as the magic is reasonably hard. But like I said, if the sci-fi way is the way you want to go that is cool.

    (Is this where I tell everyone to read Perdido Street Station?) I think it ends up into "Are you writing because you want to tell a story or are you writing because you need to pay the bills?" Sure, some writers probably love the white mush, I am not judging them too harshly for it, but at least try storm it DX

    I see this too "Allomacy feels like Im reading a video game".. Because Tolkien forbid that you find inspiration from anywhere but his work, Robert Jordan and maybe, if you are feeling daring, possibly the works of Michel Morcook and the old weird fiction writers.

    You could have everything just transform between seasons. Everything has a 'Summer' and a 'Winter' form that they switch between. I think that could be very interesting, having a planet where everything is completely different depending on the time of the year. So wolves turn large and fluffy during summer and smaller and ... less fluffy during summer, for example, unless you really want to go the sci-fi route.

    Be the bag. Cats are already ruling the world, after the insects and cephalopods, of course, but the cats do not know that.
