  1. Like the others said. Read Warbreaker before Stormlight, but the order isnt really that important. Anyway, welcome.
  2. Funny, Jasnah and Shallan are probably my favorite characters (After Kell, of course), also I really like Ham, eminds me of myself, always asking questions. Out of the viewpoint characters I was incredibly annoyed by Vivenna for about the first half of Warbreaker. Self-rightous, cant dont what she needs to do because "It is ostentatious", cant wear clothes to blend in because "It is ostentatious" cant learn to awaken when it would greatly help her because "It is ostentatious". It is so frustrating... funny thing is I love her character after she goes through all that development. Which is one of the reasons I really look forward to Nightblood.
  3. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Survival_Shard I believe this is what hypatia is talking about. I like this theory a lot, though it brings us to the question: What do rocks have to do with survival?
  4. Warbreaker and Elantris first. You know, cameos and stuff... Anyway, welcome, enjoy yourself and all that.
  5. Yes, thanks, I always mix those up, pardon my swedishness. Mindcontrol and such, would illusions fit in there? And would soothing and rioting? We do need a type for abilities that are purely mental. Teleport is moving to me, you are still moving something from point a to point b, just without the pesky transportation taking up time.
  6. This is an idea I've had for a while that may be a huge task, but we are doing it anyway. We are classifying types of super powers. The reasons are simple enough, knowing what makes up super powers and magic we'll be able to break out of old conventions and come up with even cooler super powers, sounds great? Yeah I know, lets get to it. (Disclaimers: If anyone thinks this belongs in general discussions move it there. Most of this is half-formed thoughts, names and classifications will most likely be changed and I know most abilities are not clear cut, a lot will end up fitting in more than one type, thats ok.) Type A (Enchantments?): Things humans already can do taken to 11 (or at least 10) Like super strength, super speed, heightened senses, super intelligence, regeneration and so on. Examples include Superman, burning tin and pewter, holding Stormlight, Sonic the Hedgehog, Son Goku and so on. Type B (Emission): Shooting things, like energy beams, electricity, fire and so on. Examples being the Kamahameha, firebending from Avatar, mythological dragons... Type C (Moving): Move things without touching them, or move things you are touching in unnatural ways. Examples would be telekinisis, the other kinds of bending, steelpushing and Ironpulling, Awakening... Type D (Transformation): Transform something into something else. Like Soulcasting, the powers in Law of Ueki, the Logia powers in One Piece, The Hulk, werewolves and not the stick. Other ideas? Tell me that I am wrong? More types? This is by no means complete yet.
  7. When you seriously starts to ponder what kind of Metalborn everyone you know would be. When you think about how music would develop on the Shardworlds and what kind of tonal systems they would use. (Scadrial would obviously use 16 notes per octave, Roshar would have 10, 15 or 20, because 10 notes per octave is a bit small, I think 15 makes the most sense...) Also when you wonder how 80s Rock would be if it developed on the Shardworlds, if "Babe you are an allomancer" would be a hit song (I will write it someday, promise), when you come up with the pick up line "Are you a brass compounder because you are hot" or "Are you a lurcher because I am drawn to you" . Now we need a thread of terrible Cosmere jokes and pick up lines, don't we?
  8. I can play guitar, sort of, I have very little patience for actually learning songs though so mostly I just mess around, and I am getting really good at improvising. I finished Donkey Kong Jungle Beat 100%, not the hardest game, of course, but I am still pretty proud of it. Despite all my improvising I only managed to finish two songs, quite proud of those as well. I write creepy pasta sometimes of varying quality. And poetry, also of varying quality. I have started writing 3 books and thats it, Ive started writing them. I can do this trick.
  9. When you lose your right glove and start to feel very feminine.
  10. I was running around with Phil Lynott and Prince, I dont even like Prince... After a while I lost them, but I asked a couple of people where they went, they all pointed in different directions, but one guy led me to a sign with a phone number on it. And then I woke. That was about 15 minutes ago.
  11. It definitely sounds like Spook to me, for reasons others already mentioned. Anyway this is a tiny little detail to be annoyed about, but "What the hell is that?" Does Pathism have a hell? What is hell supposed to be in Pathism? Harmony doesnt strike me as the kind of deity who would send people to eternal suffering. We know that Harmony changed Allomancy and snapping already so it is possible that he could have changed Hemalurgy too, it is just, how do you make stealing attributes from people moral? Unless you are stealing them from your enemies already, then I guess it is ok if you are going to kill them anyway.

    Ruin's voice

Theory time The entire Vin thing was all Zane and not Ruin, at all. The only thing that really supports this theory (other than I cant think of anything else that make sense) is that Zane wanted Vin to save him. So them running away together would silence the voice in his head and free him from Straff. At least that was probably Zane's idea. Ruin was still sealed and even if Zane was a bit unstable Ruin did not have complete control of him. I think we are giving Ruin a bit too much credit for how manipulative he actually was. It is possible that his plan was about to fail there and then.
  13. What if we are all actually Brandon? The reason he can write so fast is that he has several minds he can use to come up with ideas. The moment we signed up we became part of the hive mind.
  14. "Protect Life" I think that would do what "Destroy Evil" was supposed to do, at least closer to it. Of course it could end up being a sword that wont do anything because it needs to protect everything... thus creating a paradox... "Show Future" could possibly do the same thing as atium, but consuming breaths instead. "Show weak point" would make a sword that shows you were to strike. Lots of interesting things you could do with awakened Metal... Or dance. Just dance.
  15. Am I the only one who didnt find the contract all that weird? But yes, Steris definitely has some kind of control need. She seems to get over it somewhat once Wax saves her though. She might be an interesting character if she does not end up being his Princess Peach, which would be kind of funny considering how strong his female characters usually are.
  16. Hrathen. He really was the high point of the book for me. Just a man thinking he is doing what is right and ends up the villain because of it. Funny to see how the "villain" is more popular than the main character too XD
  17. That was... amazing. Seeing Wax as a wannabe gentleman bounty hunter was great. "I still think you have nice legs." Thats so smooth Wax, one could almost think that you were a soother instead of a coinshot Too bad we didnt get to see more of young Wayne, I want to see how different he was too. Maybe Lessie will be more important to the plot than we think? Not just because she is Wax's old girlfriend.
  18. Hah, no, this is no mask. They took something, you feel empty. Missing brick, if found call house. The store was only there wednesdays.
  19. To my knowledge humans are not born with knowledge about the Cosmere, possibly cats, but not humans.
  20. When you go around and try to figure out how you would steelpush yourself to a certain area. "Lets see, I could push against that thing to get onto the roof, but if I was Mistborn I could just lurch myself to that thing...." Or when you are faced with a problem and your first thought is to solve it with one of the magics in Cosmere.
  21. This is a hard choice, I have to go with Vasher though, but it is more like the combination of Vasher, Nightblood and Vivenna, they are really entertaining together.
  22. Im halfway through the first one, going to take me a little longer. Thank you, have one back!
  23. The Color Out Of Space is about the best anything ever. Of course theres The Call Of Cthulhu, The Rats In The Wall, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Music of Erich Zann... Mistborn, especially the first and The Alloy Of Law. Warbreaker was great too.
  24. First of all, I did yodel with a shoe on my head so you cant sell my soul for a bagel, hah! Anyway, I started with Mistborn this March after a friend told me to read them, so I did, then I got everything else Cosmere (Except The Emperors Soul, couldnt find it). So Ive read all Mistborn, Elantris and Warbreaker and I am reading The Way Of Kings at the moment.Thats was after not having read anything for real for years, aside from manga, creepy pasta, whatever I was required to read in school and some Lovecraft. I enjoy old Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, that stuff. Sometimes I try to write songs on my own with varying results (So the second hightening would be very useful). Also done some creepy pasta and tried to start two fantasy stories on my own. If I was a Twinborn I would either be a chromium or a zinc compounder (Manipulating people and thinking fast, great mix), if I was a misting I would be a Rioter and if I was a ferring I would be a subsumer. So, hello.
