[OB] I need emotional support (spoilers)
Winds Alight replied to Winds Alight's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hehe, I did read on, way more than I should have, but the lot's still stuck in Shadesmar and I feel utterly annoyed by the number of POVs in part four. I really don't need the white-pajama-Szeth, or Taravangian right now. I really don't. Go away. No, go kill Moash. Slowly. Painfully. -
[OB] I need emotional support (spoilers)
Winds Alight replied to Winds Alight's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thanks, you two. I'm very emotional when it comes to reading, but it very rarely happens that I get like this. I'm a mess. The problem right now is, I desperately WANT to read on, but I'm sitting at work and hating every minute of it. Who needs to earn money anyways. Or food. Let me read! Eleven more hours to go ... @Invocation It's not my first Sanderson series, but I'll have to reread all of the Cosmere. I forgot practically everything. Which is inconvenient as I read Warbreaker years ago and I KNOW I should recognize things in OB. But I don't. Meh. -
I hope it's okay to make a thread like this, but I really really need a little bit of support right now. I'm reading OB for the first time right now and have reached a point where I don't know how to continue my life. (That's more serious than it sounds, I have to work now and won't be able to continue reading for about 13 hours. I don't know how I'm supposed to concentrate on work right now.) I'm talking about Elhokar, of course. I mean. He was about to speak The Words! He was starting to GLOW! Oh why must this happen? And why has Kaladin have to be there? He did not deserve this. This whole scene was so, so utterly unfair. I cried more than during any other scene throughout all books. He had such a good run during the book so far! It's not that I was utterly surprised about this. I mean. Of course things can't be good for Kaladin. Not for more than two days in a row, it seems. Nobody deserved this to happen. Please. What am I supposed to do? ;______;

Over half way through Way of Kings!

Welcome to Stormlight! You're in for amazing things and utter heartbreak! -
"The King's Wit" from the Kaladin album by The Black Piper. This masterpiece of music ... I can't ...

First Law x Stormlight, eh? Will absolutely have to check this out.

I know this struggle very well! My father is also quite into fantasy, but he only reads in German and I only buy english books. I have no intention to read a Sanderson in German ever again. (Back in 2010, when I read Mistborn, I did so in German, will need to rebuy them in English XD). Today I do a bit of housework as it's my last day off for this year (except the sundays), and then I'll get back to Oathbringer. I'm somewhere around page 400 now. I'm much slower with this one than during the reread of WoK and WoR (read both of these within two weeks), and I want to fully enjoy thinks like ROCK POV and NO MATING!

Asking to go home early from work so I can have more time to read Oathbringer. Got 30 minutes!

I'm mostly hype for Avengers 4 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Also, I'm looking forward to Captain Marvel and will be hype for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Kaladin. I have a loooong history of fictional crushes (many of whom didn't survive their stories ;___;) but never has there been someone like him. Also, I can barely remember anything from Elantris, but Galladon was a 10. Woot, and Lightsong. I reeeaaally should reread Warbreaker once.

Mostly Nahadoth *blushes furiously* I dunno, it's been about 7-8 years since I read those, but I liked the worldbuilding, the characters, the language (there's an entire sequence in book one I can still recite from memory) and the way it's pleasantly different from standard fantasy. I really should read them again ... -
I likely have been killed recently by Parshendi OR I'm trying to fit in with Bridge Four in the new Guard. Yelp. I can't fight one bit!

Blasphemy! (I love those books ^^) For me it was A Song of Ice and Fire, kinda. I liked the books while reading them (only read 1-3 though), but they didn't really get me on edge like other books did, and I currently don't know whether or not I want to continue reading them in the future. Certainly not before book 6 comes out. -
I haven't read OB yet (currently reading Edgedancer and starting OB tonight) but I say Adolin for Kaladin. (One day, I might write a fic on those two, haha!) In general, I'm not a big fan of romance (Adolin and Shallan in WoR kind of annoyed me) and I really do not believe in this "everyone needs a romantic match" thing, so I'd be perfectly fine with Kaladin staying single. Like, as if he wouldn't mess up completely anyways, being the idiot he is. (Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest Kaladin fan to ever exist, but he can be very stupid in some areas.)

I hope it's okay when I drag this thread up again ... I'm currently rereading WoR and have come to the realization that I would be heartbroken about the deaths of some of my favourites, such as Adolin, Dalinar, Rock, Lopen, Teft ... I'd probably just drop dead should Kaladin die. I've had many favourite characters in books die on me over the years, and some have haunted me ever since, but all these pale when I think of Kaladin dying. Just ... no. I couldn't handle that. Not ever. I've never before felt so strongly about a character from a book. So I'm just going to say he'll live happily ever after. *goes off, humming soothingly to herself*

Uhm, hi. I don't know if anyone remembers me, don't believe so, as I had a short time in spring/summer 2015 when I first joined 17th Shard where I was active, but then practically forgot about this account for three years straight. Life has been demanding and I had a period of about one and a half years during which I didn't want to read any Sanderson books ever again (personal reasons), but two weeks ago that changed. I've read Mistborn, Warbreaker, Elantris and Steelheart (only book one), loved all of these, but my heart belongs to the Stormlight Archive. I don't know whether I'll ever find the time to read all of Brandon's books, but Stormlight is everything I ever wanted from Fantasy. I'm currently rereading the first two books (started Words of Radiance two days ago) to prepare for Oathbringer which I haven't read at all yet. I'm EXCITED. So. I hope I'm gonna be here more frequently from now on ^^ -
I haven't! I only bought it last week and I contemplated reading it straightaway, but I realized I'd forgotten too much from books one and two. I'm HYPE for Oathbringer tho, just started reading Words of Radiance yesterday and hope to get through with it in the next two weeks. I'm also a little scared of Oathbringer
-
I finished The Way of Kings yesterday and started with Words of Radiance this morning. Read the first one in 2011, the second in 2015 and when I finally bought Oathbringer some ten days ago, I realized I'd forgotten almost everything (well, except Kaladin was my favourite and that I loved Rock), so a reread it is. The first time I read The Way of Kings it took me about six weeks, as my English wasn't as good yet. Now I stormed through the book in one week. Even forgot to eat some days XD. Now I won't have as much time to read as last week, so I hope I can finish Words of Radiance by christmas and start with Oathbringer.
-
Today I kinda decided to drop in here again after being absent from the forums for three and a half years. (I'm rereading The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance before I start with Oathbringer so I can actually remember what happened in book one and two, so I figured this'd be a good time to reactivate my account.)
-
Startet reareading The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance on nov. 19th, 2018 in preparation of Oathbringer.
-
Oh my gosh you just killed me with that one. Thank you.
