Is there a point to Sebarial?
Winds Alight replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm a huge fan of Sebarial. And Palona of course. During his first introduction in WoR I found him rather annoying too, but when Shallan moved into his warcamp I quickly realized he's not half as useless as he seemed. He's actually an incredibly smart guy. My favourite scene is during the battle at Narak, when he casually takes over Roion's troops, while feasting and having a great time despite the battle going on. The picture of Palona reading while the Everstorm broods up is one of my favourite things ever. I do believe he is on Dalinar's side (which would make sense, as being on Dalinar's side pretty much is equivalent to being on humankind's side by now) and that he still has some surprises waiting for the crew. BTW, he does have an army, just not a very big one as far as I can remember. And I believe Dalinar even noted at Narak that Sebarial's troops did hold up surprisingly well. -
I really like this a lot! Thanks for sharing!

Me after a several year Sanderson hiatus and rereading SA 1-3 in three weeks: via Imgflip Meme Generator (Started Elantris yesterday.)

That's kinda cruel! But I see what you mean, and tbh, as much as I like Shallan, of all the current main characters I'd get over her death the easiest. Especially out of the Kaladoshal trio. I can't imagine Kaladin dying and Adolin's would almost be as bad, but Shallan ... I would be sad, but I could deal with it. Sort of. Though I think both Adolin and Kaladin could get on with their oaths/start as Radiants in other ways.

May I join this thread even if I'm a manga reader instead anime watcher? ^^ After many years of not reading any manga, I fell deeeeep into the pit earlier this year. Right now I'm reading ... Naruto (reread) Yona of the Dawn Children of the Whales To Your Eternity Noragami Those are the main series I buy and read, though there a some more I started but I'm not sure whether I'll continue reading all of them. I started watching anime/reading manga when I was around ten, when Dragonball Z first aired in Germany in 2002. Since then, I read sooo many manga. My favorite mangaka to this day is Yuu Watase (Ayashi no Ceres).

I wonder if Drehy will be really important ever
Winds Alight replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am IN for a Drehy interlude! Or better, let's get him and Skar a novella that takes place while Kal & Co. are in Shadesmar. I've never heard of this book, but I will check it out. Unfortunately, I really can't buy any new books rn, I have so many yet to read. And for now, it's a Cosmere reread anyways. Elantris here I come. -
Weeeeh, this really helps a lot, been reading tWoK two times now and I still didn't really get it XD

Granted, but you only get the bodies and now have an army of naked zombies on our hand. Good luck giving them clothes without being eaten in the process. I wish for my customers to be extremely nice next week so christmas in retail won't be as bad as usually. -
Theoretically Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but I haven't been watching for months, been stuck somewhere in the second half of season six.

What are you playing right now?
Winds Alight replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I'm not much of a gamer, but I did play Ori and the Blind Forest several times the past months. Additionally, I bought a Nintendo DS and started playing The Legend of Zelde - Ocarina of Time. Never played any Zelda game before and I haven't come very far. (Something like a Stormlight reread got in the way XD) -
I've been changing my ringtone only a few times during the past years. For a long time (my Supernatural era) it was "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas, then, five years ago, I changed it to "Negro y azul" from Breaking Bad, and sometime since fall 2016, when I feel head over heels into Star Trek, I switched to the Opening Theme of Star Trek: The Voyage Home.

Granted. In addition, you lose the ability to read. I wish to instantly understand and be able to speak every language in the world. -

After finishing Oathbringer, I'm continuing my reread of Naruto. Currently around chapter 400-something. After that, I'll mot likely reread Elantris and Warbreaker. Dunno which one will first though.

Kaladin's overall arc is far from over, I agree on that. But his OB arc is a complete arc, just not the one most of us would have wanted for him. I mean. In WoK and WoR he got to be the one to save the day, and in WoR, which wasn't technically supposed to be his book, he pretty much stole the show from Shallan. I mean, flying, glowing and fighting the man who's been the nightmare of world leaders for years is kiiiinda more impressive than sticking a sword into a keyhole. And even though he is my favorite character EVER and I don't want anything bad to ever happen to him again, I think OB was necessary. It's easy to think of Kaladin as the main character, where he's actually one of several. So it's alright he wasn't the one to save everyone's butt again. Besides, the fact that it was the other way round - everyone got to save his butt at least once - is something beautiful. He needed that as well.

I know thread necro'ing is frowned upon, but I hope my two cents are okay, as I don't want to open up another thread, as my current strain of thoughts somehow fits the topic. I think. At first, I believe in light of the fact that Kaladin is a character who has had to deal with clinical depression almost his entire life, him personally/mentally being in a state that isn't worse than in the beginning of OB, before Kholinar happened, is a huge victory on its own. He seems to be doing pretty okay at this point, which is something I'm very happy about, especially regarding the state he was in after Kholinar. I honestly didn't expect him to "come back" as quickly as he did. The omain thing I am brooding over right now is the question of whether or not Kaladin is ever going to say the Fourth Ideal, as some people have voiced doubts over. By the end of OB, I don't have the impression that Syl is worried about that, and while I do hope he will say the words, I completely fail to imagine Kaladin in Shardplate in my head. He somehow is this swift flying type, and while Plate, especially when you're a full Radiant, doesn't have any negative impact on your ability to move freely, I wonder if Kaladin would actually like to wear Plate. Dunno. Anyone else having trouble with the image of Kaladin in full Plate?

[OB] I need emotional support (spoilers)
Winds Alight replied to Winds Alight's topic in Stormlight Archive
You're welcome I guess I figured it out about Renarin quite early, but his viewpoint scenes in the end made it rather clear, though I can't claim to be an expert when it comes to ASD. The scene with Rock you quoted was so heartwarming and sweet. <3 When book 4 comes out, I will be on "life" with everyone else and not lag behind a whole year -
Least Favorite non-Brandon Character
Winds Alight replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I might make myself some enemies by saying this but ... Snape. I despise this abusive, self-righteous buffoon so profoundly I have trouble putting my emotions into words. And while I'm on that, Dumbledore, because he's a manipulative bastard who allowed someone like Snape to be around children. -

[OB] Do you think Jasnah likes Kaladin?
Winds Alight replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do not even think about the possibility of a romance between Jasnah and Kaladin at this point, but I think a lot about the "like" part. Do they like each other? Probably not, at least as far as the (very few) onscreen interactions we've had. Judging from that, you could say they dislike each other. There's at least a lot of potential for conflict as they have very different views on how to do things. But in the way Kaladin resisted her, I think maybe Jasnah could like him? I mean, he is one of the few people (aside from family) that are not in the least hushed by her intimidating appearance and Kaladin certainly doesn't care much that she's an atheist. Also, they both share some traits: They are intimidating at the outside (any maybe even on the inside), appear to be very hard people, but at the same time, both are very passionate about the things they believe in and fight for. We haven't had any scene in which Kaladin actually thinks about her, so I'd say they don't really have any personal relationship so far, be it good or bad. But I see much mutual respect in the future. That said, I think it is a huge shame that Kaladin wasn't present when Jasnah roasted Amaram. If he had been, he'd probably have become Jasnah's #1 fanboy. Edit: Just for the fun of it, I'd like to see them fall for each other and Kaladin having to deal with the fact that this makes him basically kind of king of Alethkar. -
I wonder if Drehy will be really important ever
Winds Alight replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
Of course it does, this last scene in the cave in OB was soulcleansing. For the other stuff, I knew it was probably a bad idea to write my first post, but this whole topic can get under my skin more than almost anything in the world. I know I should've immediately digged further back in 2017, but I was too devastated for that. Fortunately, I see things a little differently now and while I still have a strong dislike for religion in any form, I do believe that Brandon is one of the good guys. And honestly, a single, well-written gay person in a fantasy novel is more than many, many other fantasy writers I know of did. Or rather, I know of not a single one except Trudi Canavan, who ups this to eleven.
