  1. Yeah, I finally figured that out in Golden Son. Red Rising didn't tell me enough to be completely confident.
  2. Yeah, I'm just 90% sure he changed that since then and moved it earlier. Maybe someone else can find the WoB, I'm horrible at finding those.
  3. Nice. What tags do you refer to, though?
  4. That could bode ill if he consumes too many voidspren.
  5. I'm pretty sure the second Mistborn Era (better than trilogy now) is prior to SA, while Era 3 will be between the first and second halves of SA (which is probably a ~10 year gap I think).
  6. Dropping the jW at the end of my posts finally I think. Very old habit, 15 years probably, but I have the initials in my avatar now.

  7. I say FE-roo-kem-ist. Edit: fits well with how I pronounce Ferring, too.
  8. Sorry, y'all, a wedding and several other RL distractions kept me occupied most of last cycle and I didn't get to read through everything until it was over. I'm a bit baffled by Rae jumping on me and glad it didn't go anywhere since I wasn't around. Also, since we have no doubt about Wonko's allegiance after that RP (awesomely written @Amanuensis), here's my official cheer for Gregor (Bard)
  9. Oops, yes, you did, I just misunderstood some of all that. NM, then.
  10. If you just hold onto it, it does seem likely it'll just get taken by a Foresworn Julii, or else you'll get killed during the next night cycle and they'll take it then. Probably best to find someone you think is suspicious enough to use it on, or coordinate with a Julii you think you can trust, if you've had anyone say they were. I can't remember if we had anyone come out as Julii. I also find it very odd no one really stuck up for Bugsy. I don't think Bard was really trying to defend him, and if he was, he wasn't trying very hard. I didn't really pick up on anything suspicious, in fact, though I don't have much to go on since there's been little more than role play so far, aside from that duel. BTW, I had RL stuff interfering at the end of the last cycle so I didn't get to respond, but I currently have 13 Merit, since I haven't spent any. Only one person has PMed me, and they initiated that.
  11. What would happen if someone (Szeth) were to wield Nightblood and an Honorblade at the same time? Would Nightblood feed off the Stormlight, the Honorblade's Investiture, etc, before the wielder's Innate Investiture? If so, would the Honorblade be destroyed? Can an Awakener (say, the God King, so there's no limitations on their abilities) awaken Atium or Lerasium?
  12. Pretty sure that's why it would be an Honorblade rather than a Nahel Bond that would provide the access to Stormlight, in @marianmi's theory. I wonder if Nightblood could use the Investiture in/from an Honorblade, though? Perhaps we should ask Brandon.
  13. We're in the Cosmere Theories forum, btw, I don't think we need to use spoilers for a book like Warbreaker that's been out for a long time. I don't think we know that suppressing the Divine Breath's effects also takes away the benefits, like life sense. Granted, I think the intro with Vasher would indicate that may be the case, but it was all focused on how he didn't have enough breaths to just awaken anything he wanted, rather than dealing with those nuances. I think it's entirely possible he would still have the Perfect Life Sense even with his Divine Breath suppressed, and even if not, he probably has enough Breath for a good non-perfect Life Sense like you said.
  14. I think the only missing detail that probably makes everything match up to the 1.1 Brandon has said, would be the difference in the length of a Rosharan hour, as @WeiryWriter said.
  15. Rae, that makes a lot of sense, and I can't see option 2 or 3 being particularly likely. I'm liking The Young Bard's idea more and more, since I always prefer getting rid of someone who's not participating and therefore mostly useless (and sometimes suspicious) in the first round of RL games, and going after Straw seems to be the most similar course. I'd always go after the silent people in RL games if I don't have anything else to go on. To that effect, I'm going to officially cheer The Young Bard (Gregor).

    What next?

You'll find other recommendation lists around here, but I'd do Warbreaker, then SA and then the shorts. Reading Warbreaker before SA lets you see a few Cosmere clues and Easter eggs you'll miss otherwise (I missed them on my first read for that reason), and then you'll have enough Cosmere knowledge to get more out of Sixth of the Dust, Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, and the White Sand graphic novel, I believe, though that last one I haven't had a chance to read yet.

Methinks you got a little mixed up, @Argent. Book three was "The Hero of Ages", which as you said, features Hoid very briefly (we don't even actually see him when he's identified directly). He's both the informant and apparently leading the Terris refugees later, too.
  18. Nope, the way they came across to me was as legit references to the historical Wiggin (I could be wrong, but none of the others in the same list were fictional characters). I just did a quick search, though, and holonet is a Star Wars term instead of Ender's Game, so the Wiggin mention is the only direct connection I've seen after all. EDIT: the exact quote:
  19. BTW, can we get an updated summary of who's dueling and being cheered? I think I'm seeing two duels: 1: @Arraenae vs @Bugsy6912: Rae has one official cheer (in green, none of the others are in green so if one was meant to be official, sorry), while Bugsy has none. Several others have promised to cheer for Rae or suggested they likely will, but they haven't been made official. 2: @The Young Bard vs @Straw (for inactivity and suspicion that they may have received a randomized Forsworn ionBlade): Only the accusation from Bard, no cheers yet. Is that correct?
  20. Just got it myself, quite intrigued so far. I'm a little farther in, but not that far yet. I find it intriguing that while it's not at all part of the main plot, they've dropped a couple hints that they are very definitely in the future of the same universe as Ender's Game. They referenced Wiggin directly (comparing one of the characters to Alexander, Napoleon, and Wiggin, among others), and then someone was noted as using the holoNet, which is an Ender's Game term IIRC. Pretty fun to see, and it's not the first book I've read that did that, though I don't recall what the other book was right now.
  21. Wow am I getting lost in all this discussion. I'm used to in-person Mafia games where it's slightly easier to follow what's going on, but I'm otherwise in a similar position on this first cycle of not really having enough information to go on, hence my RP-only posts. There does seem to be some good reasoning for the suspicions about Bugsy, though I suppose it could have been an honest mistake, so I'll watch and see, but may go ahead and cheer him. Just to check, though, does he have an opponent? Is it the person who challenged/accused him, or do we need to appoint someone?
  22. I would bet that no Radiants lived long enough to have the pressures of that build up enough to cause them to snap like they did in the Recreance, if this theory is true, before the last Desolation (I didn't capitalize Last because it's not true ). If they lose some of their freedom to act, or perhaps if they even discovered that there was some final step that would take their humanity completely away from them, I can see that causing the Recreance, and then the only reason it wouldn't have happened before is that there was always a Desolation looming that would kill off a lot of the Radiants and also distract them from what was happening so they couldn't figure it out. jW
  23. Quintus stared in shock as the prank that he'd been watching with Stick took a horrible turn for the worst. He'd had a good view of Kavax being knocked out, too, which had triggered flashbacks from the Passage... Quintus had been quiet, unassuming, for his whole life, something he'd learned from his mother. He even used her House name when he could: Quintus au Tribellius. The Tribellius family was small, honorable but unimportant. They'd carried out their duties in small colonies or cities without fail, but had never tried to make a name for themselves. Father, however, had brokered no such thoughts. Without even asking either Quintus or his mother, he'd shipped Quintus off to the Institute after practically faking his test results. Quintus had never heard of that being possible, but he couldn't imagine that he'd done as well as they said he did, even though he wasn't among the top tier candidates by any means. The Passage had been the big eye opener for him. Of course, it probably was for most Golds, but Quintus had learned something interesting about the expectations placed on him due to his father's house, rather than the one he associated himself with. Looking back, he would have expected to be the weak one placed with a strong opponent, intended to be sacrificed for the sake of a lesson to another Gold; for the sake of the survival and flourishing of the race. Instead, he was placed in a room with one of the smallest kids in the Institute, who barely managed to squirm as Quintus reluctantly fought. That had almost proved his undoing, too. When the kid's survival instinct kicked into high gear and he bit down on Quintus' jugular, he thrown the boy off of him as hard as he could. His neck had only superficial wounds. The other boys' neck snapped on impact, leaving a growing pool of blood from a wound on his head not too dissimilar to Kavax's now. Quintus hadn't meant for that to happen, but he'd told himself he'd never let himself get that close to death again if he could help it. He'd been enslaved very early in the Institute games, and had earned almost no prestige, which made it even more baffling when he was requested as one of Tiberius' own lancers. That was, of course, also his father's doing. He wanted a strong and noble son, and failing that, a dead son. What better way to end up with a dead son without dishonor than to place him in a position such as this? Quintus snapped out of his reverie at the barked command to meet Tiberius at 0600. That was a long enough time to go get some rest, and he was certain he'd need it. He bid farewell to Stick and slipped out into the hallway towards his rooms. Edit: oh yeah, thanks for the character prompt, @Amanuensis, and for not being mad about my mistake in setting up my character with a house name.
  24. I meant to specify that jailed players wouldn't have actions either, yeah (though perhaps a specific role could still carry out an action, like a mafia godfather type). I would only apply it to the lynch, though, meaning the eliminators would have a chance to silence those they're worried about, but the town would still get to talk with those they jail. The mod definitely wouldn't want to reveal the alignment when people are jailed, but I don't expect it would really affect whether people who are lynched/jailed could be trusted or cleared, so I suspect that wouldn't alter too much. I don't like revealing roles when someone's lynched anyways, though I get that it can be helpful. EDIT: I'm already in a very different style game anyways, in MR17, so that's part of what prompted me to start think of other ways the game could work and still be fun. jW
  25. Maybe you can solve the elevator fabrial mystery. EDIT: Ouch, King's Tester? Sounds like a job with a short lifespan. Hopefully I can move on soon. jW
