  1. They're definitely more connected. I wish we'd gotten an Edgedancer cover with Lift and Nale.
  2. That looks awesome, @Hexelena! I would absolutely play that game. I agree that picking bind points would be a good solution, since mobile touchscreens just aren't perfectly accurate even if it's one with a stylus (the Apple Pencil would be great, for instance, but it still doesn't feel like writing with chalk or on paper, and it's much easier for it to slide).
  3. I would love to see Adolin and Nale on the cover. I think it could be really cool, and it should be set at Urithiru. Adolin is set to be a major part of the story despite not having a POV early, after the murder of Sadeas, so if you're correct that Dalinar won't be on the cover himself (and it makes sense, if it's being planned that way), I think that's a fairly likely possibility. Nale of course I'm less sure on, but he also seems set to take more prominence.
  4. It seemed that by slowing drawing it out, he gained less healing at a time, but for longer, allowing him to avoid the risk of just healing the most severe injury, but then running out and still having severe injuries that could still kill him, or having it just partially heal those severe injuries before running out (can't remember if it's stated which it would do, but either would be a big risk).
  5. I don't know that we have a lot of an answer yet, beyond just that it is stored there. Investiture seems to be used by being drawn from the Spiritual, through the Cognitive (where it's filtered by the Intents of the relevant Shard, the user, and potentially other factors), and then it can affect the Physical Realm (some magic uses affects the Spiritual or Cognitive Realms, many, in fact, but what the user sees is the Physical result, in almost all cases, so I consider that the end result). As for Shattering/Splintering the Shards, I suspect that what Odium is able to do is somehow cut the Shard off from the source of it's power. In the case of Devotion and Dominion, we know he somehow drew it into the Cognitive Realm instead of the Spiritual, and that it's now broken up into several very large Splinters as well as the Dor that is kinda like a storm in the Cognitive apparently. With Honor, it appears that he may have attempted to do much the same thing, but the Spren acted as a release valve for that Investiture and kept the same thing from happening in the Cognitive Realm.
  6. Hmm, that makes me wonder how the process of passing to the Beyond looks on Roshar. Obviously Honor isn't meeting people on the way, but his Cognitive Shadow (the Stormfather) perhaps could, or Cultivation (or Odium, but I expect that would be tougher for him, and he wouldn't care except to torture people). Does a Radiant's spren get to meet them before they pass on, in Shadesmar? It wouldn't necessarily be a new experience to meet them there, depending on the order, but that would make for a rather bittersweet farewell scene. I kinda want to see that in one of the books now.
  7. True. I'm still having a hard time seeing Wilson as an Elim. I think Dani just made a strategic mistake that seemed suspicious to everyone (and I do think she should have protected Wilson, or handed over the vial), but that just muddies the water now in my opinion. I'm not really sure if it points to anyone in particular. I would still like to know who leaked Wilson's role to Dani, and who the thief is that can steal vials.
  8. It's implied in the text that Soulcasters don't, if not stated outright (I'd have to look). That's part of why no one knows how to make new Soulcasters now; they don't know how they were created.
  9. I think it's safe to say Rock hasn't met Wit (other than that meeting). He really wouldn't have had reason to, since he's not one of the actual guards that would be watching the king or Dalinar.
  10. Did the fabrial used to revive Szeth have a spren trapped in it?
  11. I think you're right. They're an "ancient fabrial" and no one knows how to make one now. All the ancient ones we see (not that there's many, but I feel like others were mentioned) work on different principles, like the elevators at Urithiru.
  12. I'm on mobile so it's hard to quote just a portion of the posts, but I'm definitely agreeing with the general ideas here. I'm fairly new to SE, and I love the complex games, but I can see how they make it tougher to really be engaged sometimes. On that note, I'm going to postpone the game I was planning to run, and run a more traditional Mafia game when it's my turn. I'll still run the Reckoners game at some point, but I think you're right about needing to get some experience running standard games to appreciate the effort needed to balance other factors (I was probably being overconfident in wanting to just run a really cool idea first). I'll be watching this thread with great interest.
  13. Why not? They'd need a perpendicularity or another means of accessing it, but presumably whoever was offering would have a way. There's nothing about Skaa specifically that would prevent them. Not that I think that's what it was. I suspect if anything was being traded, it was either knowledge or metals.
  14. Considering a normal push off a coin is enough to launch an Allomancer into the air, though, the force of the push must exceed the pull of gravity. With Duralumin behind it, I would expect that could exceed 10x the force of gravity. I think the trick would come down to how long each form of acceleration lasts: if the Stormlight keeps it accelerating for longer (which I think our examples in book show it probably would), it might not start as quickly, but it might travel further (or if they're opposing forces, it might be pushed back by the Duralumin push at first, but then once that's over, start moving back in the other direction).
  15. Actually, reading over that, I interpret it a bit differently. Many species do not vary in the type of gemstone you can get from them, but what made Chasmfiends so valuable could be the variety of gemstones that they had. Emeralds certainly make sense for soulcasting, but it's entirely possible that not all Chasmfiends have the same type.
  16. It may be possible given what we know of Lerasium's true purpose. Hoid seems to have had that particular ability from before he got the Lerasium, though, so my guess is that it's a Yolish form of Feruchemy, or that he got it sometime previously. Hard to be sure, though.
  17. Yep, it's our county library system, and they're pretty good about that. The ebook library through them isn't quite as good, but they have most of Brandon's stuff in the library itself.
  18. That's a little too convenient of a reason for my tastes. It really does feel like bait to catch a Mistborn. The young doctor glanced over at Quintus as he sat down. "Sorry, I've been a little distracted. I've never seen anything as complex or exciting as this house, with all of it's potential! I've been digging around, and while I haven't found any Awakened objects yet, did you know that some people have found flakes of metal floating in some type of alcohol? Really crazy stuff. I wonder what that could do to you if you drank one. The metal wouldn't metabolize of course, so you could end up with lead poisoning, internal lacerations... Maybe they were being used as a type of poison? Wouldn't be very effective overall, though, would just make people uncomfortable most of the time, instead of really hurting them..." She kept talking a bit longer as Quintus watched her, a bit surprised. She was obviously intelligent, but excited? That was an odd perspective after what had been happening. She couldn't be that oblivious to what was happening, so he could only figure that she'd been sidetracked by what she was seeing in the house and was mostly ignoring the other people. He needed to remember not to lose his own focus on the house and it's contents, so perhaps this was good for him. He broke in when Konwa took a breath. "I've heard that there are people...in other places...who have magic that works by swallowing metals, and then they can do something special with them. Makes them strong, fast, lets them fly, that kind of thing. Heard about it from this old storyteller. I wonder if the owner of this house came from that place?" She looked at him curiously. "Another place? You're talking about Scadrial and their Allomancers, but they're not even from this planet. Who are you, really?" Quintus winced a bit at the reveal. He'd meant to keep his knowledge of the Cosmere, as his master had called it, a bit closer to his chest, but it was too late now, and he realized this woman might actually be able to tell him things that he hadn't had time to learn from his master yet, or that he might even have refused to tell him. "Scadrial, yeah. I've never been off world, but it sounds like you have? How much do you know about what they can do?" --------------- As the conversation with Dr Arelle delved into scholarly talk, albeit with a bit more excitement than the dry texts Quintus had read on occasion, he took a moment to listen in on the continued tale being woven about the previous night. It sounded like Yiferian had deliberately baited Khaos with a tempting item, causing her to reveal something about herself that made her a target for those who were trying to get rid of the rest of the explorers. Despite the tragedies of the previous days, when innocents had been killed in the frenzy of the scared mob, he knew they had to take action when someone was assaulted, and others had been killed in brutal ways. He took a moment's break from his conversation with Konwa to weigh in. "I can understand wanting to protect yourself, Yiferian, but offering help to Khaos like that, only to yank it back at the last minute? I can't see that as anything but sinister."
  19. @Daniyah, what action did you use this cycle, though? Did you use the fabrial instead, or do you have something else? That's what's not adding up. Edit: I can confirm that @Elbereth was asking about vials. I don't have any so I couldn't help, but I can corroborate that part. I'm actually a bit suspicious of Elbereth with this little tale; what better option than to find out who a Mistborn is, yet get the vials herself and also get rid of an important role? I'm not accusing her directly yet, but I'd like a bit more to this story. @little wilson, did you approach Elbereth and role claim, or are you not who she was gathering vials for?
  20. I got a copy of Warbreaker from the library (I read it previously, but only the version he posted online, which still needed editing, so I wanted to read the final version), but I haven't even cracked it open yet, while I got the notification that Arcanum Unbounded is ready for me to pick up at the library as well.
  21. I might do that, Wonko. That's basically how the PM Dani started with me went as well. She did ask if I was an Elim, the night after when she started the PM, to which I obviously told her no (seriously, what did she expect?), and she claimed the same of herself, but I find that to be a useless question since you can't read someone's reaction to it usually.
  22. Quintus squinted in the dim light and thought back over his cryptic conversations with Yiferien. She'd been somewhat guarded, trying to tease out answers to her questions from him while rarely sharing anything about herself. She'd also claimed to have found nothing when he asked her a few nights previous, but now Khaos claimed that Yiferian had found something that she'd kept to herself, even though Khaos said it would have helped her. Of course, there'd been plenty of time for Yiferian to have found something since then, but a whole group was forming up against her, and Quintus wanted to be sure someone else wasn't stirring the pot. Khaos was probably okay, though he guessed she could have attacked someone else and been overpowered, but he didn't think that likely. Aralis was likewise watching the argument from the sidelines, but Quintus didn't have any interest in approaching the possibly insane man. He sat down next to Dr Arelle instead. "You're a scholar of some type, right? BioChromatic theory, was it? Have you found anything that might tell us what in the Colors is going on with this house, or these crazy people stuck in here with us?" (Summoning @Wonko the Sane if he wants to RP with Quintus.)
  23. There's a WoB that Hoid has not used Hemalurgy. I suspect the fact he's implied he can't hurt people physically would be involved, and I also suspect he wouldn't want to risk opening his soul up to interference from Ruin/Harmony.
