Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
And how do you propose we do avoid killing players without having them revealed? Any kandra that do scan are going to become instant targets wen they reveal themselves, and we lose the single biggest source of information for the village! Indeed - it's far more valuable to lynch a traitor on suspicion, and see who defends them, than scan them and have them be lynched without discussion - in the latter case, very little information is gained.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Adavantos, not supporting lynching a suspicious player on grounds of not knowing their role, and then complaining when you do learn their role is rather interesting... I do fully support the thread being told that she is fine to lynch, role wise. This allows us to take a decision on one of the most dangerous players in the game, without an external factor prejudicing our choice- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Adavantos, is there not an inherent contradiction between your two posts? Post 1) I don't want to risk lynching a player whose role I don't know Post 2) It was a mistake to tell us her role Wilson is a player who could well be lynched - and for good reason - not risking lynching a fairly suspicious player because we don't want to know her role or risk losing it seems like a mistake. I have a post I should get out tonight, and would like to apologise for not being as active as normal - I have had an incredibly busy last few days.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wonderful timing Kas! I'm about to have to head off, but before doing so will firstly reiterate my thoughts on the HI. I'm worried that we are putting too much trust in the HI playing to its initial win condition, rather than it's ultimate win condition. By giving the HI knowledge of the identities of the Henalurgists, we allow a less scrupulous HI to give the information to a traitor, and allow them to gain an additional player, and vote, at an earlier point in the game than would otherwise occur. I'm not as suspicious of Bridgeboy as others have appeared. Were he to be a traitor, I'd have thought that some more experienced member of his team would have pointed out that he was misinterpreting the joke, and stop him drawing so much attention to himself. I have a very slight suspicion of Kipper - his posts are coming across as ever so slightly different from normal, but I couldn't put my finger on how, and even so, don't want him dead - he's rather good at spotting Evil!Orlok, so his staying alive should hopefully provide a degree of reassurance! More seriously, though, I don't yet have any solid suspicions, but will continue to read through the thread throughout the day, and ensure that I do place a vote this evening.- 1686 replies

Alvron, given the likelihood of the HI turning, at some point this game, in that scenario, what's stopping a traitor approaching Araris straight up and asking for the names of the Hemalurgusts to shut down communications faster, and gain a new member of their team? We cannot assume or expect Araris to have any loyalty to the crew, when the likelihood is that he will become a traitor - in my mind, the less information he has, the better!- 1686 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ok, well after I die, which now seems inevitable, I would ask that you look again at Creccio, and her interaction with Deathclutch yesterday - as I put above, it seemed to me to be reminiscent of trying to divert attention with an overly dramatic post, by a player perhaps not as experienced as others. Creccio made a very interesting statement yesterday - that Skaa hate to discuss. I would argue that, in keeping with her own actions, she is diverting attention away from the active Skaa in thread - and I would guess that the Skaa are fairly active - but again, paranoia! Other that that - Winter seems to be behaving erratically, but I haven't paid enough attention to her playstyle in previous games to really attribute it to anything - I would just suggest that she is watched.- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Winter, I did explain this earlier - whilst you may have trusted Joe, I was still rather wary of him, and decided that even if he wasn't a Skaa, it was certainly worth lynching him for the confirmation of his intentions, and to see his voting patterns, and those voting on him etc. I didn't have a firm view on Zephrer's alignment, and didn't have time to form one. Other than this, is there anything I can explain to you to better help you understand why I've acted as I have? Wyrm - in terms of bringing you up - part is a real wariness that you are positioning for a repeat of QF9, part is some niggling suspicion about you, but to a degree it's a lighthearted reminder - I would be highly critical of anyone who placed a vote with it as justification at this point. Given I'm on the topic, Alvron is still alive - which isn't necessarily indicative of anything much - it's only cycle 4, but given he was kept alive last game only to break his dodo award record, which he's already lost, there isn't quite as innocent an explanation if he continues to survive.- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Deathclutch, The information we get from Joe's death is firstly that his intentions regarding his plan were correct - which means that we can look at the dynamic of who opposed it prior to its flaws being pointed out, among other things, and how Joe has been voting, and who has been pushing for his lynch. I haven't yet had the time to actually look through to see what we have actually gained, but those are my preliminary thoughts before I do. I'm afraid that my vote yesterday has nothing to do with Zephrer. I hadn't formulated a position really on his alignment, but had suspicions on Joe. So rather than voting centred on the Zephrer issue, I voted on a completely different agenda. I am now somewhat suspicious of Zephrer, but remain more so of Creccio. As I explained above, her vote on me is based on reasoning completely contradicted by my actions over the last few cycles - and it appears she hasn't actually read my posts - making it seem more like a vote on a suspicious player to ensure an inquisitor gets lynched, rather than a well formulated position. It's also very interesting to see you leap to her defence in such a manner - without waiting to see how she responds, you change the direction of the discussion dramatically. So if Creccio is guilty, I wouldn't be surprised if you also are. Alvron is still alive, which means of course that I am somewhat wary of him, and I'm getting a worrying feeling about Wyrm. Kas was on my list of suspicions, but not terribly highly. I shall be watching Ripple carefully.- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Creccio,I do wonder if you have actually read my posts over the last few days. I will reiterate again, to save you the time. I voted on Ripple to put pressure on her - to see how she would react to the threat of the lynch, and to bring to people's attention the slip up she had made - which, whilst obviously with hindsight a simple typo, could conceivably have been a mistake made by a Skaa. I then went to sleep, woke up and saw that people had turned it into a bandwagon, and that Ripple appeared to be rather upset at being lynched over it. I decided that I wouldn't enjoy having it on my conscience to further perpetuate a lynch that was causing her this much upset, and she said might drive her from SE altogether. On Joe - I had been suspicious of Joe for a while - again, you will note by reading through my prior posts I've stressed that lynching him would give us a fair amount of information, and then there is the cycle 1 plan, which again, caused an element of suspicion, and increased the information we stood to gain. In fact, I believe I actually tried to get Joe lynched in place of Ripple on cycle 1 (or was it 2?). Creccio. Your posts have been belligerent, and accusatory without actually carrying a weight of evidence - as if you are trying to steer opinion, but not on grounds you actually believe. I've thought something has been up with your posts since day 1, but would refer your vote on me with logic contradicted by my actions as evidence of my above accusation. Edit: Sent post before I finished it...- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ok, I'm really very sorry that I haven't been the most active this cycle - I had a 16 hour flight, and then some fairly hideous jetlag. On those I find suspicious: 1) Creccio I can't quite put a finger on it, so I will refrain from voting, but something seems really odd about Creccio's posts, and the way she is trying to get us to trust her. I'll have another look through should I survive, (probably can't get back online today), and see what I can find. 2) Joe I'm not quite sure what to make of Joe. We have his plan in cycle one, which is a black mark on his name, but equally, he's just tried the vote on himself gambit - which was followed by others swinging the vote away from him. I think we gain sufficient information from his death that I'm going to vote on him without more concrete suspicions. Sorry, Joe 3) Wyrm Just your regularly scheduled reminder not to trust anything Wyrm says, and to not allow him control of the thread. See QF9!- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Creccio, Many things warrant a lynch. The information we can gain on voting patterns, things not adding up, and yes, intuition. I do not believe that when someone is actively upset by what has occurred, we should prioritise lynching them over ensuring our community continues to be a welcoming place. Now, I may have drawn the line at the wrong place, or overestimated how upset Ripple was, but I am confident that I was right to have withdrawn the vote, regardless of her alignment. Lynching Joe, a player fully capable of defending himself, with 25 games of experience, for the information his alignment would give, does, perhaps warrant a lynch. I haven't yet decided my position on it.- 755 replies

It's a rather entertaining book, researched by Stuart Laycock - 'All the countries we've ever invaded, and the few we never got round to'. My understanding is that that battle would count for the purposes of this list - as do coastal raids by privateers, among other things. 15 is probably a stretch - 10 more reasonable, although I'm very happy to change the question if people think it more sensible?

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I certainly did not intend them to face a bandwagon. And jumping off it was far higher profile than staying on - why on earth would I want to attract attention like that, as a skaa? It was an interesting occurrence, and one many would likely not have noticed had I not brought it up, and voting on those grounds was the most effective way of doing so. I was clearly over reading it, unfortunately. As to why I jumped off it, having slept, I thought further on it and didn't think it warranted dying, and had seen how distressed Ripple had got, and frankly, did not think lynching her, even if I was slightly suspicious, was worth driving her from the game.- 755 replies

Invaded in this sense is a very broad term - it doesn't require them to be part of the empire, but were a military presence was achieved, either though force, threat of force, negotiation or payment. There is a fairly well researched list that I'm basing it's off. According to said list, Sweden is the only country correct of those suggested by Robinski

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Winter, I explained what I did this morning (17 hours ago for timezone clarity). I noted that a mistake had been made, deemed it worthy of being brought to people's attention, and thought that the most effective way of doing so was through a vote. I absolutely did not expect it to lead to a lynch - I attempted, unsuccessfully, to divert the lynch train this morning. Yes, I could have removed my vote from Ripple before I went to sleep past night. But given there seemed no overwhelming threat of her lynch, I thought it more sensible to leave it be, where it could continue to put pressure on her - people always act in more interesting ways when there is a threat of a lynch. I would, though, like to reiterate, that Ripple, I really am very, very sorry for instigating your lynch over it, and causing you the distress you indicated.- 755 replies
