Quick Fix Game 11: Cultists in a Snowstorm
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Mailliw73's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm very sorry I haven't been active so far - part of this is due to timezones; the game started at 10:45PM for me, and other than checking the thread briefly, there wasn't anything at the time I felt I could meaningfully contribute. I'm currently at school, where I have limited wifi - and rarely enough time to actually post. I shall be on and available to look through the thread in about 1 hour and 20 minutes from now.- 283 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm going to throw my own vote on Alvron, although I would not be opposed to being scanned myself. Alvron is 1) Still alive, and 2) Feeding us information from what he claims to be a kandra. Wyrm is not beyond putting Wilson and Alvron on the same team, by any means. As I recommended with Adavantos, I shall repeat for Alvron. If he is evil, it is worth the Kandra revealing their identity to have him lynched.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Adavantos, your post last page is much appreciated, and I'm sorry if I've caused you any offence by acting in a manner critical of you this game. I am somewhat surprised that I'm getting lynched for criticising Adavantos, though. The essence of my posts has been that we should not prioritise winning the immediate game over having fun, and yet I'm accused of wanting to win to the point where I would fabricate an attack on the personal actions of a single player? Onto my defence. Kipper, I have been playing differently. Part of it was that I got a day 1 read on Wilson, and spent the early game trying to gather evidence to prove it, and check that my read wasn't wrong. Following this, it has been a combination of disenchantment with how information has been centralised, and to some extent a lack of time available at my disposal. I can't say I'm too upset about my change in playstyle having thrown you off, though, Kipper. You having caught on to my evil playstyle in pervious games was not a terribly good for me in the long run, and if I'm causing you confusion now, it will help for when I am once again evil!- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I don't like that I feel I have to do this, as it's not related to finding the traitors, but I feel that the situation has got to the point where I cannot, in good conscience, not speak out. Adavantos. It is fantastic that you have proven instrumental in rooting out Bridge boy. However, there comes a point where winning is no longer worth it. In my mind, we cross that Rubicon when we sacrifice the fun of players as a whole to win the game. Now, I'm not necessarily saying you have done this deliberately, but it is indisputable that you have become a mayor within this game, holding a significant amount of information, are trusted, have protection, and it seems killers to do your bidding. This game is no longer ‘The Crew’ vs ‘The Traitors’. It has become ‘Adavantos’ vs ‘The Traitors’. There seems little point in our involvement if everything is orchestrated from above, with scans, kills and protections centrally planned. There exists a partition between those villagers you seem fit to be part of your inner circle, and the rest of us. And it hurts the game as a whole. How valued will new players feel, if they can have no impact on a game? What motivation is there for inactive players to return, when their involvement will have little impact? Instead of everyone having to pull their weight, there is a sense that one can just lay back, and have everything sorted. And that is not why I play SE. Our meta isn't perfect, by any means. But centralising information and creating barriers to full involvement just makes it worse.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ripple, the same logic can be applied to a normal lynch - we are not always right - but it's the actual conducting of it that gains is the information. Stink, assuming the mistborn is a villager, they would be far better off helping gather information for the village than any other course of action, unless they have an overwhelming suspicion of their own.- 1686 replies

And I'm proposing we do have the mistborn follow every time. It's not a problem if they deviate from themselves - in such a situation, we have deemed them suspicious enough of being worth a lynch anyway.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've said this in PMs, and even before in thread, but will say it again. If we conduct it properly, there are no differences between a lynch and a voted on mistborn kill. And we don't get players questioning the good of a lynch. We get exactly the same information from both, and in fact reduce the influence of the traitor kill dramatically - from removing half the killed players to but a third, whilst doubling the opportunities for players to slip up in thread. I can understand why people are suspicious of Bridgeboy, but will reiterate my support of Adavantos being scanned. Should he be evil, given the information and power he holds, we need to know as soon as possible.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It's probably worth reiterating to the kandra that if they do discover Adavantos to be evil, it is worth them getting the information out - even at risk to their own secrecy - as a player with this much control, his evilness would call for serious damage mitigation - on a scale sufficient to render hiding your role at all costs a minor concern. I am off the opinion that we should decide that the mistborn will kill a player tonight, and conduct the vote properly - as we would a normal lynch, to gain the same information we would from a lynch, rather than having votes of abstention - which would be incredibly unusual in a lynch. Adavantos, Phatt, Clanky, all of you must have at least some suspicions - and making 'no kill' a valid way of engaging provides all those who do not want exposure with a very good way of staying out of the conversation.- 1686 replies

Arraenae, I'm very happy to submit to a scan - my opposition to Adavantos isn't on the grounds that I necessarily think him suspicious (although I'm keeping an open mind) - more that I really dislike the idea of a game run by a mayor.- 1686 replies

Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Phatt, I suspect you are evil because I don't think that a day 1 Evil!Wilson is going to vote without an ulterior motive, and adding you as a player to the eliminator doc, through allowing you access you would otherwise not have due to the risk of a sibling is worth orchestrating a seemingly innocuous bandwagon. Wilson also tried to play a mind-game with me as to the hypothetical situation of her being evil it being something she would do, and from the context of that I came down on it being a dissuasion tactic. I am in no way as certain of your guilt as I was of Wilson's, but you are to me the most suspicious individual.- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Adavantos, I'm sure you're not consciously doing it, but there seems to be a contradiction between your actions and words; you claim not to be a mayor, and then proscribe that 10 votes need to be on Wilson because 3 people are changing votes to targets you asked them to to prove their abilities to you... Do you have any response to the criticism of beginning a mistborn lynch and then not proposing a target? The benefits and drawbacks of a voted kill are exactly the same as a lynch - and we don't have calls for no lynch in case it hits a valuable role. Edit: before I forget, Wilson- 1686 replies

Long Game 15: ...The Shards Themselves...
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I disagree that it's 'blindly attacking people' - if we treat it exactly the same as a lynch, we stand to gain all the same information as we would during a lynch, with the same drawbacks - and you don't have people saying in the middle of a game that they are opposed to lynches because it's blindly attacking people. I nominate Phatt for the mistborn kill. Of course a vote could be placed on her by anyone, and have it develop into a bandwagon, but 1) you have a large motivation as a traitor to kill her to give you freedom to operate, 2) Wilson also voted on her, innocuously and apparently on a whim later on - indicating that there was a concerted effort to get her killed and 3) I discussed this with Wilson, who said that yes it was a very plausible thing for her to do as a Traitor; in the context of our conversation, it is my reading that she was trying to clear suspicion once she was found to be a traitor. As for scanning, has anyone yet actually scanned Adavantos? We should remember Wyrm's control of the thread as an eliminator in QF7, and that Adavantos is a prolific poster even when evil. I certainly would feel safer were there a confirmation on him. The distinction is that you are collecting information, and then using your information to direct mistborn as to the correct targets - and with the disparity in information, they are unlikely to feel comfortable disagreeing with your order. There is a distinction between killing inactives with a mistborn and a lynch - a lynch serves as an opportunity for them to engage in discussion, and allows the contribution of others. Many people are legitimately busy at the moment, and to grant yourself the power of deciding to kill them can certainly be likened to being a mayor. Now, unfortunately Kas is dead. That means I shall have to carry on the struggle in his place! Practise PM safety! Not only does it prevent valuable information leaking out to the eliminators, it helps keep the game enjoyable for all, by preventing a concentration of information in a controlling authority.- 1686 replies

Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I actually do suspect Phatt of being evil. Phatt and Shallan share a PC - they are siblings. Placing a vote on Shallan can be passed off as being a joke, but allows the eliminators to orchestrate a bandwagon that no one will look at twice, to allow one of their members to actually contribute. Kipper, I'll send over the list as soon as it's done. Can I also just raise that I strongly disagree with your methods this game, Adavantos. Nothing personal at all, but controlling the information, and threatening players with mistborn seems to be to take the fun out of the game for everyone. We can't expect people to contribute as much as the most active players - I myself haven't been as active as I aim to be, but having a mayoresque game with a controlling authority isn't going to motivate the semi-inactives to get involved again.- 1686 replies

Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wonderful! I've been highly suspicious of Wilson since day 1, and have been delaying because she is very good at providing reasons for her innocence, - but as I mentioned to Kas before his untimely demise and Kipper, I have been increasingly certain of her evilness. I have been very busy with school work this week - starting history coursework, so in some ways am grateful that I don't have to write up the compiled reasons I had created for her alignment.- 1686 replies

I'd have allowed you the British Indian Army - even only because I have ancestors who served as officers in it! I wish we got to do things like memorising Orders of Battle for conflicts in school - we gloss over military history, and it really irks me. Anyway, it's your turn now Kas!

Orlok Tsubodai replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This is interesting. Apologies for not voting last night - I will definitely set out my suspicions tonight, in case I am killed. I have delayed because I am still unsure as to how certain I am - it's primarily based on a set of potentially explainable occurrences, and a read on a player I know quite well. Another night cycle should give me plenty of time to decide - although I would appreciate protection tonight - I don't particularly want to be killed to cast suspicion or create an I know you know on the target of my suspicion.- 1686 replies

Sure - is naming 5 regiments of the British Army feasible? In terms of khans, other than Genghis, you could have had Ogedai, Guyuk, Mongke, Ariq-Boke, Kublai, and a large selection of their lesser known successors or minor khans.
