  1. I like this theory and concept. It could also help explain why Roshar is bursting at the seams with Investiture, being so close to "the source".
  2. ^ Ha! Perfect amount of snark.
  3. Awesome. Thanks. I'm really interested to see what Sigzil does now that Bridge Four is essentially free. Or if he'll show up with Hoid. Aand what Hoid is up to with his World_inger groups.
  4. Just a thought I had reading about Sigzil. What if Hoid was/is grooming him to be a Worldhopper? Maybe as a start to his own counter-17th Shard? He's built up his knowledge of Roshar and who knows what/where else. There's similarity between the titles of Worldsinger and Worldhopper. Though, is Worldhopper a canon term, or a Sharder term? And Sigzil has been documenting and testing Kaladins abilities. He also seemed very persistent that Kaladin make time for said tests. Anyway, no real quotation or WoB evidence I know if. Just a few connections my head made.
  5. What is the origin of the word 'Nahel'? Is it a person, a spren/Cognitive Realm being(like scientists naming discoveries after themselves)? Or something else?
  6. I just took this to be The Lopen being The Lopen. He has no idea if he can stick things to walls. But it was something he liked that Kaladin could do, and as far as he knows he has those powers, too. Whether or not he can remains to be seen. But yeah, I think he was just getting overly excited and over-reacted(if one can over-react to watching someone have real mystical powers, then discovering you have them, too).
  7. Which could still work for the type of denial a person employs and thus what type of spren is drawn to them. Kaladin lost Tien, and tried(when he wasn't suffering from depression) to hold(bind) people close to him after that, such as with his squads and the one or two slave revolts he orchestrated. I think I remember Syl saying she'd been watching him before then, but I'm not sure how far back.
  8. Ah, I see. I think it may indeed be the nature of your "denial". The source of your mental issue. Or maybe how the individual deals and copes with it. Certain Spren are attracted to different emotions/ideals, after all. Shallan lies to deny her pain, which (re)attracts Pattern. Though I'm not sure what initially drew Pattern to her in the past. I don't think that has been revealed.
  9. I'd agree with you. They are definitely of dubious quality for leadership and command. From my own perspective, though, I find it interesting/different/"realistic" that Sanderson has the fate of the world resting not on infallible heroes, but...just people. Regular people with problems and ghosts, who aren't necessarily the best choice, but they're the best Roshar has. It reminds me of our world. Our organizations are run by regular people who have lives and problems outside of their office, and their decisions are affected by these outside pressures. Also there's the fact that a Rosharan soul needs to be cracked or "damaged" in order to make space for the magic system to seep in and take root.
  10. As to the highlighted text in the OPs post, I can't help but tie the prefix statement to it: "he’ll need to keep his people in the city from falling apart". Which makes me think of Kholinar. I couldn't really see "in the city" meaning in the warcamps. Possible flub on TOR's side, perhaps? Or maybe they do mean the warcamps and the whole blurb is veery generalized? Edit: Sorry, seems like it took the font from the quote and changed my own.
  11. I suppose it was a stretched hope that we'd see those characters again so soon after seeing more Elantrians. I like this dissolved idea, though. I'd bring up Galladon being in the Physical Realm in Stormlight Archive as a "But-", though there are likely several other entrances into Shadesmar and likely other portals he/the 17th Shard can use.
  12. Also during the Scadri-ocalypse, Kelsier mentions something about how Ruin was splitting and dividing Preservations power when Kelsier was trying to find threads. If I'm not mistaken about that, I think that Ruin was trying to Splinter Preservation, and that's how it's done. By breaking up and splitting the power into atoms(or basically atoms from the perspective of a being of that much raw power).
  13. Hi all. I'd like to start possibly identifying the Elantrians in the fortress of blue-white light, if they haven't been. I want to suspect that Elrao is Raoden, based purely on his name. But there's not a lot of support for that beyond the name. Could even be a title or descendant. What does everyone else think about possible identities?

    Hoid

Frankly, we don't. Unless I'm forgetting something. We don't know what Hoid is up to, we don't know why the 17th Shard is chasing him, we don't know what, exactly, he does on the worlds he visits. And I kind of like that ambiguity with him. Edit: Also, nice name. Even for Mistborn, it's a buried nugget.

    Hoid

That may be nothing more than a coincidence. It seems a bit inconsequential a spot to toss out 17th Shard bait. However, Brandon Sanderson is a very detailed writer and loves his easter eggs. It wouldn't surprise me if Hoid WAS fishing, here. I kind of hope this is true, now.
  16. Hahahaha. Hahaha. You get an upvote for that.
  17. Ah, yes. I'm pretty intrigued by the connection to an in-world Oathbringer book and Dalinar's shardblade. Also, I just had a thought(thank you, Spoiler warning in the title). I wonder who will get Oathbringer(shardblade) now? If I'm not missing something, Dalinar gave it to Sadeas for the bridgemen, Adolin killed Sadeas, and then ditched the Blade out of a window. I'm curious who will find it and what they'll do with it.
  18. It's also congruent with the previous books. The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance are both published books on Roshar.
  19. Erm, just a clarification here. Spren DO exist in the Cognitive Realm. That's where they live. Remember seeing Pattern and Ivory in Shadesmar, with their too-stiff cloaks, and Ivory's oily/prismatic sheen? Remember when Shallan and Pattern are there, and a huge Spren flies overhead, and Pattern calls it a fearspren? WoB: SATSUONITell us something new about Cognitive Realm, please BRANDON SANDERSONYou will get plenty in the next Stormlight book. But more than one type of spren live there
  20. Hi all. Not sure if this has been brought up before, but I'm re-reading The Final Empire and came across this quote from Kelsier after his visit to the Pits. " 'And so you...' Vin trailed off. 'I pretty much ended atium production in the Final Empire for the next three hundred years or so.' " At which point the crystals have grown back enough to produce atium. Alloy of Law takes place about 300 years after Hero of Ages. And isn't the Elendel Basin pretty close to where the Pits of Hathsin used to be? I remember something from a broadsheet about mysterious metals and the Pits of Eltania. Could be a resurgence of Atium. Or since there is no Ruin, it could be the source of this mysterious new metal from Shadows of Self. Anyway, just thought I'd put that tidbit out there.
  21. The longer they ferment, the better they get. Brightladies are like honey.
  22. Hahaha. Did you put Wit in the carriage driver seat in the first Elhokar and Kaladin image? Because that's awesome. Also, these are fantastic. I respect and upvote your dedication. Edit: Also, sweet details on the chasms/plateaus.
  23. Or two brains? Multiple stomachs to digest multiple bodies at a time? Seriously, kandra can be quite overpowered if done cleverly. Unless I'm forgetting something.
  24. That actually sounds awesome. I've been curious ever since the first post.
  25. Hate to be That Guy, but does anyone have a quote from Zahel about Shardblade weight? I'd just feel more certain with scripture, and also Dalinar isn't known for flavourful exaggeration in that sense.
