Nightblood was a big slap in the face, especially with the "Would you like to destroy some evil today?" Zahel took a bit longer, but once you realize Nightblood is there, the 'Zahel' clues get a bit more obvious. I can't wait to see more of Nightblood, and especially if(when) Vasher and Nightblood reunite.

Thanks, all. I only caught this on my third re-read of the books. I love that there are always things to notice on a re-read. It's not at all like re-reading other authors, who have what they have and that's it. Sanderson books, like Kelsier is fond of saying, always have another secret.
-
I came across this(pictured) in Words of Radiance. The coloured rocks and the circle made me think: was Zahel playing Tarachin? Or some form of it? I remember Tarachin being played on a field, not a circle, with coloured weighted balls. Though the field and balls were also sized for a Returned. Still, the similarities stood out to me.

What if Demoux got the idea that Kelsier might still be around(maybe pieced together from hearing Spook's tale as Survivor of the Flames? Maybe some knowledge gleaned during/after the Catacendre? I dunno.), and began looking into the existence of other realms to try and contact Kelsier? Just an idea that rolled off my head.

Ooooohh! Very nice tidbit. I'm going to have to put some thought into those revelations. I really hope we get to see and experience some of Adonalsium, maybe in Dragonsteel. Good find! Edit: I wonder what's hidden underneath all the stone/crem. WHY grow Roshar in such a pattern?

What were the races that have Parshendi in their ancestry, again? I think it was Horneaters and...Herdazians? Do Aimians have some Parshendi blood, can anyone recall?

We know he has life sense, as shown when he sensed Kaladin at night. So he's at at least the Fourth Heightening still, which requires around 1,000 Breaths. Unless, of course, he can reach Heightenings with Stormlight alone, but this seems like it would be far more difficult.

How does crem get in a highstorm to be deposited, and where does crem come from?

I do accept that as a possibility. I won't flat out deny anything until we get Words of Brandon or an in-book explanation. Personally, I assumed the closing eyes and deep breath was for looking into Shadesmar to find the soul-flames of the assailants. But I do have to question, given that even when she soulcasts normally she needs to touch to do it. Shallan mentions she made dozens of sketches of Jasnah soulcasting when she was trying to figure out how to do it, with no mention of doing it at any distance.. And during the poisoning attempt, why would she not soulcast the jam and bread before anyone even touches it, if she suspected? It was more out-of-character for her to actually try the jam that she's been flat refusing for weeks. Maybe I'm chasing a red herring here, but I have questions that beg answers.
-
Also, just to point out, Shallan only sees Cryptics when she 'takes a Memory". I don't mean spren, like Pattern most times. But stiff-cloak Cryptics.
-
True, we do not and I can't wait to learn more. It could have so many applications for a Surgebinder, who isn't limited by a fabrial. I mean, there are already a horde of uses with just the Fabrials. Being able to Soulcast nearly at will(dependant on Stormlight) is huge. Just look at how often Jasnah does it, and she's trying to be sneaky about it(By the time Shallan accidentally Soulcats the goblet into blood, she has dozens of images depicting Jasnah soulcasting). I mean, she uses it to burn some notes at her desk rather than wait to throw it into a hearth. How useful would it be to, in modern- or future-period Roshar, to be able to soulcast a length of road, or soulcast metal for a starship(Shardship?). I'll have to pay attention during my re-read to see if time is affected by the characters being in Shadesmar. That would be interesting, too.
-
I was thinking that could be possible, that she half-transitioned to Shadesmar and touched their soul-flame beads. I'm dubious of this because it was done so quickly. She raises her hand and then it happens. If it is indeed a peculiar ability unique to her, why did she have to touch the Soulcast jam and bread in a later scene? Why didn't she change them before?
-
I noticed something odd in that scene in The Way of Kings, where Jasnah takes Shallan out to that dark alleyway for a philosophy lesson. My question is, how did Jasnah Soulcast at a distance? As far as I can recall, Soulcasting(both Surgebinding and fabrial) require touch. And why did their clothing not turn in to smoke as well? The previous two transformations in that same scene(man into quartz, man into fire) affect their clothing. Just something odd I noticed. But if Soulcasting can be done at a distance, it raises veeery interesting possibilities.

Nice! I also LOVE the RAFO card. That's just the extra little effort that makes getting a RAFO bearable . -
Perhaps being a Surgebinder and having basically a symbiotic relationship with a spren provides some buffer from Cognitive Realm effects? *shrug*
-
Which happens in the Cognitive Realm, as we see in Secret History. Also, the Horneaters can sometimes see spren, and also have some Parshendi blood. I feel there's something to these races and the Cognitive.

I was reading the Axies interlude wherein he wakes up in the alley-kingdom. When he walks out into the street, he mentions people reacting to his shadow, which is pointing at the sun, rather than away. I happen to be re-reading Secret History, and also came across this from Blightsongs OdessyCon transcription: So what's the connection between Aimians and the Cognitive Realm? We know the Parshendi have a special connection to spren(by way of bonding with them), and that certain races on Roshar have shared ancestry with the Parshendi. Spren are beings of the Cognitive Realm. Could the Aimians also have a connection to the Cognitive Realm and/or spren? If so, what is the nature of that connection?
-
Completely true. But I'm not really considering Scadrial in this, personally. I'm focusing on shardplate against bullets, so mentally I'm just imagining Roshar in an era equivalent to ours.

It should also be considered that by the time Roshar is in a modern era, it's very likely artifabrians would have found a way to create or enhance shardplate. Look at Navani and her half-shards. Shardplate in a modern-era Roshar could be much stronger, adaptable, or more resilient.

Oooooohhhh man. I hadn't thought about this. Yeah, there could be some serious hate and malice directed at Adolin once Ialai finds out. No way she'll let that go. Probably raise her child to be an instrument of vengeance against Adolin.
-
You are correct, Pathfinder. It's a chapter header, for chapter 55, and quoted from the in-world book Words of Radiance.
-
The Windrunner ability is that their squires are stronger and more numerous. The Lightweavers ability is mnemonic acuteness, like Shallan taking "Memories", basically a way to flawlessly remember something.
-
Inside Out? Assuming the movie, how do you figure?

This is a cool idea. I've spent a bunch of time already answering questions. If we find errors, how can we notify the creator? I noticed one question referred to the Smoker in Kelsier's Crew as Cobble, instead of Clubs, for example. Just don't want peoples scores affected by accidents.
