I made a comment in one or the pre-view chapters about Trell = Kelsier. Mainly just because everyone else has been mentioned so I wanted to add my completely unsustained guess. I am sure it is completely full of holes but some supporting arguments: 1) WoB that state Trell will be a much bigger factor in MB3 as well as we will see a lot more Kelsier (presumably he is the rogue Mistborn in MB3). 2) We see his interest in hemalurgy at the end of MBSH. 3) We have been told Trellium is related to a shard and since Kelsier ascended briefly and is a cognitive shadow that could count. 4) Being around Sazed in the final empire he probably heard about Trell at some point and why not re-use. 5) Clearly Kelsier has no problem setting himself up as "God" from what we have seen in Southern Scadrial. 6) Hoid (granted we do not really know his motivations) wanted Wax to know about Kelsier possible to stop him? All of this though is pretty loose or potentially consequential and could be explained away I'm sure. Big issues with it is I do not really see what his motivation would be unless he thinks doing this will help him in his goal to leave Scadrial. Not sure how the Set would play in to all of this either as they do not seem to be aligned with the Southern Scandrians who Kelsier spent a lot of effort to help. It also seems really far fetched being connected to Scadrial as much as he is he would be able be able to hide this from Harmony. No idea either why he would turn on his friend Sazed especially since his actions in MBSH he seemed to want to help others take the power not take it himself. Plus probably a 100 other issues that I am not thinking about. I do like the idea though and it for sure makes Kelsier relevant going forward. I really like the idea of the threat being "homegrown" compared to an external threat. I also have never really understood why Autonomy would want to attack Scadrial. Her intent is not super different from Harmony. Although with Bleeder we do see that some would consider Harmony's philosophy of non-intervention to not be 100% true. The other big suspect Odium also seems odd to me with the events in RoW and seems like he would have enough problems on Roshar. The timeline also does not make a lot of sense for Odium since it is presumed Trell has been involved on Scadrial for a few decades.
-
So I will start with saying I go back and forth on if Odium is involved but lean towards him not being involved. That being said Brandon wrote Sixth of Dusk that is basically in the MB4 era so I think he could work it out in a way that does not necessarily spoil SA. Just because you know something happened does not mean you know how it happened and the how is really the story. You could easily consider the sample chapters for special projects as well as the Sixth of Dusk sequel to be spoilers (some are pretty dang major) for the future of the Cosmere but we are missing the context for how these things have come to be and that is the part I am still interested in.

Obviously everything by Brandon (except the Skyward novels sorry I just cannot get in to them past the first book). I am also the rare exception that likes the Mistborn books the best. In no particular order: Hyperion- A Sci-Fi version of The Canterbury Tales Dune- Classic Space Opera at its best Ready Player One- I really liked the premise of this book and being a young kid in the 80 it is very nostalgic The Name of the Wind- Loved the first book and hopefully one day will get to read the third Licanius Trilogy- Fantastic epic fantasy very reminiscent to WoT Author is a big fan of Brandon The Martin- This one is mostly sentimental it was the last book my dad and I read before he passed away The Richest Man in Babylon- Financial advice book that should be required reading in High School The Magicians Trilogy- Not really sure why I like these so much but I do.

If I am understanding the theory correctly it is contradicted by events in SoS. Paalm used a Trelium spike to steal Idashwy's steel feruchemy that was how she had the power so in this case at least it did not grant an opposite power. She also did not seem to be immune to hemalurgy because that is exactly how Wax ends up defeating her. True it did not steal her power (of course that was not the intent) but she was not immune to being spiked.

Kandra World Hopping Inconsistency
StormingTexan replied to StormingTexan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well I would think a Shard has way more power to do so than a CS. My point with what I posted was there does not seem to be a limitation of controlling an invested being from one planet to another since we have seen a CS do it. I would call a Kandra an invested being. They were made with a form of investiture and essentially die without it. The Kandra wouldn't be created on another planet. Could Cultivation grant a boon/cure to a person that then becomes a world hopper? That would more accurate analogy because Harmony is not trying to create a Kandra on a different planet. Shards are tied to worlds they invest but I do not think this necessarily limits their power (or reach) on other planets. Obviously we are seeing this with Trell and assuming it is Autonomy she is not physically there on Scadrial. -

We actually already have an example of a Cognitive Shadow being able to control an invested being remotely. It is even weirder than this because the CS is not even using a form of investiture native to their planet. SA Spoiler (all the way to SA5 prologue) So I would think Harmony should still be able to control/communicate with. Kandra off world. -
In SoS Wax and TenSoon go in the tunnels under the Fields of Rebirth and they pass the basement of Kredik Shaw where Wax assumes the Well of Ascension would be as well. I do not think this has been confirmed though and is just his speculation. There is also the pool mentioned in the Broadsheets in the Southern Roughs that sounded like a perpendicularity.Of course I do not think we know for sure if there is still two or just one. Hopefully we will see MeLaan cross over on-screen so we know for sure but I am a little doubtful.

This would be awesome but I think unlikely. Brandon has said that Waynes acting ability is not magically enhanced. My guess about his "fortune" is it may be his resonance a heightened level of fortune.

Also the allomantic grenades. A Mistborn is less OP if you can toss a grenade by them and empty their metal reserves. I think the technology aspect does level the playing filed a bit.

Kandra World Hopping Inconsistency
StormingTexan replied to StormingTexan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes but this would be contradicted by the fact he says they are "Agents of Sazed". Now that doesn't mean pre-catacendre Kandra had not potentially world hopped but they were not the ones Brandon was referring to us seeing in other books. Yep the chapters this week put it to rest and in context of the new information nothing is really contradicted. Ah the trials and tribulations of reading a book two chapters a week -
Oh man the thoughts that just ran through my head... Poor Wayne! I feel so bad for him. I have been thinking though since the prologue Wayne is going to have an important arc in this book. I think the fact Brandon is kicking him while he is down so much is further proof so hoping for a happy ending for Wayne. Interesting that Wax has been trying to separate harmonium. If this is possible it sets up some pretty exciting things for MBE3. I loved this sceen by the way and I am really happy to see Wax and Steris interacting in this way. That cliffhanger at the end!

Well MeLaan pretty much answered the question in the chapters answered today. Not the first just the first to explore "long term". -
Kandra World Hopping Inconsistency

Yes I thought about this as well. Hard to say if she knows from someone els's experience or if Sazed just explained the process/environment to her which I think he would regardless if another Kandra has or has not gone. Another possibility that MeLaan is just an unreliable narrator. I should have added that to my list as honestly it is probably the most likely answer. -
This was brought up in the chapter 10/11 Preview reactions but thought it would be good to start a separate thread since it contains Cosmere spoilers. In the preview chapters MeLaan says this: Way back in 2014 we have the WoB indicating there are Kandra on other planets besides Scadrial. A few moths later a follow up WoB. Note he says an agent of Sazed/Harmony so what we have "seen before" is Kandra post Catacendre. At the time of this WoB the non-MB books that had been published were Elantris, Warbreaker, tWoK, tES, SfSitFoH, WoR, and SotD (Sixth had only been out for a few months). All of these books besides SotD take place before MBE2 according to the unofficial Cosmere timeline. So my first thought was the book he was referring to was SotD. Then we get this WoB that specifically says there is a Kandra on Roshar Then he says we saw one on-screen in Oathbringer So something is not adding up since MBE2 is supposed to be after SA 5 and MeLaan is saying Harmony wants them to begin exploring. I know there has been a lot of speculation on who the Kandra on Roshar is and not really the point but I am curious about the discrepancy in timeline/continuity. A few possibilities 1) Brandon will retcon the previous WoB(s) 2) The Cosmere Timeline is incorrect as we understand it (it is unofficial afterall) 3) MeLaan and/or Harmony is purposely keeping past world hopping from Wax and crew What do you guys think?

Man I completely forgot Sixth of Dusk was published so long ago! So the two WoB from 2014 could be true in the first one he just mentions that there are Kandra on other worlds in the second one (after SoD was released he says we have seen the Kandra) so both could be accurate in reference to SoD. My only guess would be one of the "Ones Above". The problem is we also have a WoB stating there is a Kandra on Roshar and another one that we have seen one in OB which still does not add up timeline wise if MBE2 takes place after SA5 and what Melaan says is accurate. Possibly she is just an unreliable narrator or Sazed wanted to keep his Kandra world hopping spies a secret.
-
There are much more recent WoBs on the subject of a Kandra World Hopper (although nothing concise but they do hint at a Kandra on Roshar) I just posted the oldest ones. So I think Brandon wants us to know there is a Kandra on Roshar at the very least. Something seems to be off. It is possible though that Sazed kept some of the previous world hopping from MeLann I guess. Edit: Direct answer regarding a Kandra on Roshar although this one is older as well. Yes this was my initial thought but Brandon said under Sazed's control and this WoB was before Sixth of Dusk was published so it limits it to the books I posted above (assuming the WoBs are still correct).
-
Yes this is in fact odd. Way back in 2014 we have a WoB that Kandra have been on other worlds (there are more after this as well). I think we all assume Harmony sent them but now I am wondering if these were also spiked with Trellium... Or could the WH be Paalm? EDIT: There is also this WoB saying they are agents of Sazed so this would contradict my earlier thought that they were Trellium spiked. With the placement in the unofficial timeline of MBE2 and the WoBs being in 2014 the only non-mMistborn books we could have seen an off world Kandra would be Elantris, Warbreaker, tWok, tES and WoR. All of these should have happened before this current time period and I believe only the SA books after Sazed ascended so there seems to either be a continuity, timeline issue or WoB that have been retcon.

It is mentioned in BoM that the Kandra confiscated them.
-
Yes according to this but I wish we really knew if he was referring to the shape as well or just the color. I tend to think he was referring to the color but not sure.
-
The front left one. It is describes as "sinuous" and that is the only one that really matches that.
-
I am still confused on why he got the first one (I would assume he would still have one) unless Harmony is experimenting with something that will cancel out Trellium? Maybe that is why he wants Wax to make an earring out of it to test if this is possible. I also agree on the guys looking for Wayne are trying to give him money. Excited to see where this goes with MeLann! I hope Kelsier does not punch her. Poor Wayne he is about to get his heart broken.
-
I saw that later as well but I was not sure if he was referring to the shape or the fact it is all white.
-
Yes my money is on this is Odium's Champion. The blade also resembles the description of Ishar's Honoblade.
-
Another image released. I am guessing this is Odium's champion. Edit: Interesting could this be Ishar's Honoblade?
