I need to go back and re-listen to that because I do not remember now that you bring it up. I actually liked the Todium move. There is a pretty good WoB explaining why he did this but essentially it boiled down to the fact that Dalinar had essentially already defeated "Rayse".

Since Wax had no idea what it was and with these books happening after SA 1-5 I am going to guess it was brought to Scadrial from Roshar. I loved this scene!
-
I am not sure I would say "hundreds". Especially after the Kelsier and Sazed scene I think technology is going to develop a little quicker here than our world. It is also a 1980s analog for Era 3 so at the most less than 200 years difference if it followed our development exactly. That being said I do not think we will see Wax in Era 3 but do think we may see his children.

Interesting since the plot revolves around chasing down a rogue Mistborn. I think I would actually like this since the Wax/Mistborn deal felt a little unresolved to me in this book.
-
I also think he is a weak Mistborn. Another example is the blue line he see without burning steel. I think he sees them because or iron instead of steal. Drinking water commonly has trace amounts of iron in it and he may have inhaled some from the explosion. I think a lot of what we see is the subconscious metal burning like what Vin did. I also agree with others that the vials contained all metals (except Lerasium). Side note. Why did Wax never think of using aluminum vials? It seems pretty obvious once we saw Not-Wax use the aluminum flask. It is obviously not a money or rarity issue.

Lost Metal Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
StormingTexan replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I do not think we knew about this one or the other one mentioned Bjendal. I honestly have mixed feelings about this book. There was a lot I liked. As heartbreaking as it was Wayne's Arc was done extremely well. I really liked the outcome of the rest of the main characters as well. I liked getting to see more Kel on screen. While I liked all the Cosmere tidbits some did come across as info dumps instead of organically developing and if I am being completely honest felt a little distracting in this book to the main story. I also feel like as mentioned above the era just feels unfinished. I get that this is supposed to really be a setup for era 3 but I think I would have liked a little more time spent wrapping up some loose ends. Especially since more loose ends were added in this book specifically to the W&W books. So is Wax a full Mistborn? We assume so but do not really see it on screen. What the heck happened to the BoM and who made them? I guess this last point has the opportunity to be resolved in era 3. I felt like the beginning of the book did a good job to ramp up the tension between the Basin and South then just let this kind of die on the vine. Ignoring the fact it felt distracting to me I did like seeing Aethers it really got e hyped for SP1. TES is one of my favorite Brandon stories and seeing the new and improved Forgery was really fun. I kind of assumed this was Shai her codename was a pretty good clue then when she turns in to an Elantrian the name drop makes it pretty obvious but honestly she did not seem like the same character. I guess you can dismiss this with the fact she has obviously had a lot of time to become a new person. I loved her thoughts when she sees Hoid. -
Lost Metal Full Book Reactions (Mistborn Only Edition)
StormingTexan replied to Chaos's topic in Mistborn
Man what a ride! I just finished it and already feel like I need to re-read it. I absolutely loved and hated at the same time Wayne's arc. I guess in my head I was hoping he would somehow end up a Kandra and get to be with MeLaan. He has always been one of my favorite Cosmere characters so I guess I greedily just wanted more. I had a feeling though just with the pre-view chapters he was going to end up having a sacrificial ending in this. It was beautifully done by Brandon. I really liked pretty much everyone else's arc and conclusion as well. I was really glad to see more of Kelsier and Marsh as well. Poor Sazed things do not look good. Loved the character epilogues at the end they were really well done. To be fair I do have some criticisms. It seemed like the Southern/Basin hostility was really built up in the beginning then kind of just died. Clearly it is still an issue and the whole BoM thing but this part of the book just fell flat for me especially since it was so central in the last book. I guess we will have to wait until Era3. I absolutely love all the Cosmere tidbits we got but I have to be honest this is the first book that I really felt like it interfered with the main story. Kind of hard to put in words exactly what bothered me about it but I think it just distracted me a bit form the main story. On the other hand it also got my hyped about SP1 so I guess I shouldn't complain. The book suffered a little bit on the pacing in my opinion until the later chapters. It seemed a little slower than usual for W&W books but the ending did make up for it. All in all it was a good conclusion to Era2 and has me super hyped for Era3. -
Yes that is another great choice.

All three are actually pretty close. Hard to say Roshar is closer actually from the star map.

I think unfortunately we are not going to get to see Trell/Autonamy's motivation and true plan in this book. I think this plot line is what Chaos is referring to in this comment on his spoiler free review. Will be MB Era3 before we really find out.

I 100% agree. Honestly I was going to be really disappointed if it turned out to be Odium. With the timeline and everything going on with Roshar it would have just felt clumsy in my opinion. We need a new bad guy!
-
Holy Preview Chapter Batman! I was not expecting to find out who Trell was this early. Glad to have confirmation it is who most thought and squish the Odium theory which I always hated. My first though on the blue lines was he is now a lurcher as well (or full Mistborn) and he is seeing the blue lines because he is unconsciously burning iron (which trace amounts are pretty prevalent in drinking water) kind of like how Vin was burning pewter before she knew she was a Mistborn. I think it's weird though that he wouldn't know he was burning another metal knowing what it is like to burn a metal unlike Vin. So unlikely. The "emergency" vile has to be Atium right?
-
It would have been better if the questioner asked if they were biologically his bit I think this is a little bit of semantics. I do not think Brandon was trying to trick us on this being that he mentions this hair.
-
Yes it is not the mechanics of it I am worried about more so that dead people are not really dead troupe I hope we do not see.
-
I actually really liked the theory if that is any consolation.
-
Per WoB this is not the case.

Club For People Who Aren't Single Pringles

My wife and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary! -
This is a good point and I agree that besides the "Super Fans" Trell being Autonomy and/or an Avatar will come out of left field for most readers. Assuming Brandon still wants Cosmere stuff as a back story or Easter eggs there is pretty much zero foreshadowing of Autonomy in the MB books. Every bit we get is in SA. Now if anyone could pull this off in a way to not completely confuse everyone it would be Brandon but I agree it just does not feel right. On the other hand I am sure Brandon does feel the need to introduce more of Autonomy (She is obviously meddling in the Cosmere) and with the events of White Sands being so long ago as well as her interaction on First of Sun being somewhat ambiguous I could see this as an opportunity to introduce Autonomy. He will not have a lot of other opportunities in the near future unless she is added in the mix to everything else going on in Roshar. Either way I hate the idea it is Odium. It does not make much sense with the timeline and events of RoW.

I am envisioning something like lacrosse because it has a goal and Wayne mentioned them beating each other up.
-
Yep I think when Wax and Steris were trying to find the missing clips the total was around 20 million. Agree though I bet Steris has increased their wealth in the last 6 years. It sounded like it in the pre-view chapters they live in a swanky penthouse and still own the mansion so probably not doing too shabby. Edit: I was wrong on the amount the finances were around 5 million. With Wayne owning Wax likeness I can only imagine that their rolls will be reversed in the comic books. Wayne will be Batman and Wax will be Robin.
-
Some day teams will be awarded the "Wayne Terrisborn Trophy" for winning the championship. Totally forgot about how he had Wax sign away his likeness so his heir will own the comic books in Era3 as well.
-
Yes I love how he is trying to get rid of his fortune but keeps making more money. I think his idea of blowing it all on the sports endeavor will backfire. He even suggested adding metalborn to make it more exciting!

https://www.tor.com/2022/11/07/read-the-lost-metal-by-brandon-sanderson-chapters-sixteen-through-eighteen/ Well Wayne is pretty rich and he looks to be starting professional sports on Scadrial! So I guess we know what the new type of explosive is now. I really liked seeing a Steris POV. Ok so I hated the idea of another "Kandra impersonator" but I'm getting some weird vibes from VenDell.
